Or they could just do like Oakland used to do. The Minnesota Vikings of Los Angeles?

And fuck, you got a super bowl out of all they did, so who cares if you have to pay the piper now. Its not like that Trophy is going anywhere.

Samuel, Robinson and Grimes... Not a long term solution, but definitely good enough for now.

Big storyline for next season is going to be Calvin Johnson vs the Madden Curse since he will be the cover star for Madden 13.
In terms of non-injuries, everyone else either had a huge decline or retired (Barry Sanders) although to be fair, all the players selected had "career"-type years as the reason for being picked so it was natural for a decline to occur the next season. |

Fitzgerald was on the cover with Polamalu and it didn't effect him at all. WR's might be immune.

Still counts as a "cursed" year since Polo got hurt and Fitz ended up missing the Pro Bowl due to an injury. Stats-wise, Fitz had better years but because the Cards neither made it to the SB nor won it, still counts as a cursed year.
That year ended up being an exception due to having 2 players although also meant the curse had double the people to impact for that year and it did with Polo. |

Madden curse has struck as many times as it hasn't in the past 6 years.

For the first time in a while I'm totally not looking forward to the first round of the draft. Picking so late combined with the fact that there really isn't anyone exciting past like the top 15 just leaves me feeling bleh. Just hope they don't reach on a DT or draft a RB. Or Fleener. Please, no

tired of hearing about how RG 3 is gonna lead the Redskins to glory again.
he has HUGE BUST written all over him, not to mention they have way more holes than just QB. |

Ben Maller had this discussion a few weeks ago, theres no way that both Luck and RG3 are great NFL QBs, so one of them has to be a bust, and I think it'll be RG3. Its also more likely that they are both busts than they both have good careers...

Why can't Luck and Griffin both be great QBs?

That doesn't make any sense at all.
But I bet there's some stupid history behind it that doesn't have any logical backing. |

So your reason for this has nothing to do with his ability? You just had to pick between the two QBs and you somehow arrived at the conclusion that Griffin "has HUGE BUST written all over him" despite not basing your opinion on anything about him, but rather results of past drafts?

Part of my reasoning is also because the Redskins seem to fuck everything up somehow, and the whole trade the farm for the #2 pick only to have RG3 bust out seems about par for the course of the franchise over the last 15 years.

Its not like the overall track record of top 5 picked QBs is that great either :
I bolded the ones that won a Super Bowl..and with the exception of McMahon, all that won SBs were #1 picks |

The only reason I could see RG3 being a bust is because hes going to the career cemetery known as the redskins. Put him on almost any other team and theres no question he would be great.

I think Andrew Luck is going to be a bust because the Colts have drafted 2 successful quarterbacks with their first picks in the draft and two shitty quarterbacks with first picks and seeing as how their last one was good Luck will certainly be bad
my dumb theory is better than yours Droford |

Hey guys, just curious. What's your go-to channel for watching the draft tonight? ESPN or NFL Network?

ESPN because I still haven't figured out what is in Mel Kiper's hair, but I think I've narrowed it down to a combination of Sportin' Wave, Murray's Pomade and Isoplus. This is the year I finally nail it.

I'd probably go back and forth. Whichever one doesnt spoil the pick before it's in, but I guess they both do that.
Also I didnt know Chandler Jones was Bones' brother. Some sick genes there |

2009- Stafford/Sanchez
2004- Rivers/Manning 2002- Carr/Harrington 1999- Couch/McNabb 1998- Manning/Leaf 1995- McNair/ Collins Unless I'm reading your table of top 5 selected QB's wrong, your inane notion that RG3 and Luck both can't be good because they're in the same draft seems pretty inconclusive. In terms of numbers, Sanchez's first three seasons are almost identical to Eli's, he's improved every season and by the way, dude played pretty well during those two AFC championship runs in the playoffs. Stafford's team just got there, so I don't see how you can call anyone in that pairing a bust. Philip Rivers is statistically the better quarterback than Eli, but Eli has more rings. I don't think either of those guys are a bust. Carr and Harrington were both busts. I'll give you Couch as a flop, but he went # and stylistically who is RG3 more comparable to, Tim Couch or Donovan McNabb. I'll give you Leaf as well, but unless RG3 has an addictive personality/mental disorder, I don't see how they compare. Kerry Collins may not have been as good as McNair statistically, but he put up some nice numbers and did start his career on an expansion team. He actually threw for more yards in his career than McNair and had less talent around him overall. He also took the Giants to the Super Bowl. Let's not forget he did that as a functional alcoholic. Again, I ask, who is RG3 stylistically comparable to, McNair or Collins? |

By the way, who's better/ least annoying, Kiper or McShay? Mel seems passionate, while McShay comes off like an ass.

I wonder if the Colts will make a parade of their first pick even though everyone knows they've already decided to take Luck. I just don't get why they would wait almost the whole 15 minutes to make their pick when they already know, and have announced, who they're taking.

Drofords support argument is less about QBs taken in the same draft, and more about how shotty the rate of 1st round qbs are.

It's just more low effort thinking on his part. When you actually dig deeper and compare the "busts" to either QB in terms of skill set, personality and the situations they're going into, you see how stupid the thought is.
