Did he slash the asian forensic guys throat there?? It'll probably be a dream/illusion but i'll mark out if it actually happens.

you really think they'd just give out a moment like that in the trailer?

I think he was recreating the murder with him.
Kinda like he usually does, prancing around, showing what the killer's moves were. |

Really hoping they step it up after last season being pretty bad. Quite sure they're gonna drag out the whole Deb believing Dexter was just caught in the heat of the moment for ages though. That said, they could go a completely different direction with it which would make me very excited about this season.

Well that was so much better than everything from the past two seasons. I really thought they were going to drag out the whole Deb storyline for the whole season and that ending would be the ending of season 7. Really glad I was wrong about that. So glad they didn't revert Deb back to being a dumb useless cop and actually kept her smart enough to figure all the Dexter stuff out pretty much immediately.
The side stories of LaGuerta finding the slide (who you would assume will now be trying to prove Doakes was innocent all along) and Louis the weird intern are both really interesting too. The new bad guys don't seem all that exciting but they were obviously going to take a backseat to all the Dexter/Deb stuff in this episode so we'll probably get more on them in the coming episodes. Really excited about season 7 now. |

First episode was awesomeeeee. I thought they would drag out that storyline too. Kinda sad that guy had to die. I dont understand why LaGuerta would 'steal' the blood slide. Instead of her just pushing forensics to get to the bottom of that first.

Wouldn't be shocked if LaGuerta gets set up somehow to be the Bay Harbor Butcher.

One improvement I've noticed is the use of flashbacks to Dexter (and Deb's) childhood in place of Dexter conversing with the imaginary ghost of Harry.
Those conversations really bothered me since they were introduced in season 3, because they gave the impression that Dexter was losing his mind. Dexter isn't mentally unstable; he's a very deliberate and organised (or in his words 'neat') monster. He's in control of his mind and emotions, otherwise he would have been caught years ago. |

Yeahh I've always much preferred the flashbacks too. I just hope they have Dexter go back to being the meticulous killer he was in the first few seasons, not making any mistakes and not leaving anything down the chance. Last season when he sent a video message to the killer was probably the dumbest moment on the whole show, and there's been a few.
I mean, it's already a bit much to have him kill someone in an airport in this day and age, but that's where suspension of belief comes in and that's fine. But when he's outright contacting people who the police are after with his face plastered all over their phone is just something they'd never have had Dexter do in the earlier days. |

They should have just had Debra catch him in season five and skip season six altogether.

The villian himself isn't the interesting point for me so far; but rather the possibility of Dexter head-to-head with an organisation. In every season so far he's dealt with individuals, whether psychopaths like Trinity or professionals like Doakes. This is the first time he'll face off against a group of trained killers, who could pose a real threat.

Good point. He just kinda reminds me a little of a Hans Landa from Inglorious Basterds, friendly ,charming then he stabs you in the eye with a screwdriver.

I'm sure it's going there, but Deb needs to realise that she can't change Dexter and start hunting him. The season usually takes a couple of episodes to get started, but after the hype and promise of the previous season finale and the trailer, I feel a bit underwhelmed by her reaction and apathy. He's a serial killer FFS!

Don't know why Dexter has not brought up the fact that she let him go before, in Season 5, or whichever was the one with Lumen and all the battered women.
Like, "guess what Deb, you let me get away with it once before because you wanted those people dead". |

My personal favourite season is the second. It's not as dark as the first but has a faster pace and dishes out the drama in the same way the later seasons do. |

Can someone on this show please give Debra Morgan some chap stick? Maybe it's the lighting, but her lips look so dry. Annoying

Yeahhh I've been loving it so far. Really huge step up in quality from the past two seasons, the whole Deb angle just adds a whole new level to the show. Plus as mentioned before, the villains for this season are a great change up from just simply having one serial killer to deal with to having a whole crooked organisation.
I really think La Guerta will end up getting killed off by the end of the season as a consequence of her investigations, maybe by Hannah, who Dexter will then have to kill, although that may be a little too similar to the Doakes/Lila arc so maybe not. |

Really intrigued for the ending of this season too as it'll set up the final season. I wonder if they'd have Dexter get found out and have the entire final season dedicated to him on the run, struggling with the decision to turn himself in or fight to stay alive. Could even end with him killing himself as he's the biggest monster of all. Dunno.
