I loved the Master. Damn you.

The River reveal was a bit underwhelming. We can agree on that I guess. Which is one of the reasons why I'm kind of down on the second half of the season. I feel like the first 4 episodes will probably revolve around saving baby River/ Rory getting killed off and being revived and only the last two will be anything worthwhile in terms of reveals or shocking surprises.

I just supported him, didn't I?

The first ep back, "Let's Kill Hitler," confuses me greatly. It doesn't seem like it has any tie to the current story arc, so....

On the other hand, we'both in agreement that Rory will "die" several times in the newxt half....

I LOVE TENNANT! I LOVE SERIES 1-4, marked out at series 4, and enjoy the old seasons as well. I enjoyed series 5 and was on the fence concerning Matt Smith. Why? Because he clearly seems to be a jackoff for hipsters and an attempt to draw in younger fans rather than produce quality TV to draw in fans. He is a jackoff for younger fans in the same way the movie Paul is a jackoff for comic con type of people.

I was not settled on this point of view until series 6. It is just lack luster and that says a lot because I would never before miss a DW episode and now I can go without it.

WHERE IS MY TENNANT! BY GOD I HOPE YOU RULE HOLLYWOOD SOMETIME.

Tennant imo was the best doctor.

As for the angels, they created one of the best original monsters ever, made people look at statues with suspicion and made 4, yes, 4 of them nigh unstoppable.

Then they have a planet of them where they are easily outdone. And yes I agree, we all know Daleks will be back, no need of telling us the fucking episode before.

I don't like judging people when they're still running the show. Comparing Tennant's body of three seasons plus several specials to Smith's one (point five) season is a little rough. Especially when Tennant started off with a couple of REALLY bad episodes (Not counting the Christmas invasion). Smith is, at the very least, competent in the role and I love his Doctor, but he's new.

The planet of weeping angels weren't easily outdone. It takes two episodes and the Doctor has to fuck up royally before they know how boned they are.

There's a lot I don't like about those episodes, but the Angles were a real threat. Weakened, but a threat.

You misunderstood me, I think Smith is excellent as the Doctor.

Perhaps stating that Tennant is my favorite so far that I have seen would be more accurate, though it can change. Tennant had the look like he could explain the theory of relativity to a wall and have it show it understood him.

I think the thing that puts me off is that Smith looks younger then his companion and that hasn't happened before or so I believe.

As for the angels, Blink as I said was excellent for the reasons we agree on. However they went from Dalek level enemy to a lot less IMO due to having a a planet of them foiled.

Blink had an immensely complex story and your jaw dropped at how the doctor managed to get out of it and made the angels something you knew not to screw with.

The planet of them made them look so much less dangerous.

I don't misunderstand you, I merely expanded on the whole "who's better" thing.

Blink's story wasn't all that complex. It was just well-crafted and suspenseful. It's also an episode which deals with a small cast of people who don't know what's going on, which makes them more dangerous.

The planet of them being foiled comes down as much to luck as anything. Though honestly, it's not like I'm in love with the episodes. Part of what made them so good was they were commonplace. Take that away, the thought thatthye could be anywhere, and put them in a place where every statue is an angel, and it's less effective.

Still, it does have the benefit of putting the Doctor on the defensive for most of two episodes in a way we've rarely seen in the revived series. It's not wholly unique, but it is kind of cool for that.

I attempted to shed the impression I gave that is a better Doctor, Tennant in my opinion I enjoyed the most so far and Eccleston was only a season, Smith not even half so he has time to sway me.

I immediately liked Tennant, so perhaps that's why I liked him better.

I think we agree about the angels, they were so badass and the thought of them anywhere and anytime made them scary. Knowing there are hundreds if not thousands of them for some weird reason makes them less scary.

As for the episode, the end is how the episode began. How he figured out how to otsmart the angels. It really was a brilliant story with an amazing twist and I believe it was nominated for several awards as well.

Lastly, I have searched IMDB and there are few tv episodes rated that high or were as well received

For some reason decided to watch Tennants last two episodes last night. Hated how cheesy some aspects were, like the more serious/darker tone Smith-era seems to be taking. I loved Tennant as a Doctor though and always thought he'd be my favorite. But Smith really surprised me and I think I may be liking him more than Tennant in some ways. May have to rewatch everything to be sure.

Tennant is my favorite. I think he would have thrived under this more serious/darker themed era while Smith based on his delivery and look seems like he would have done better under the slightly lighter toned RTD era. That's not to say Smith is bad, just that Tennant is better.

As far as first impressions, Smith sold me in his regeneration scene. And by the time the Eleventh Hour was over, I was all over him.

Blink ended how it began which has been done. It's a stable time loop. It's so frequent it has an entry or possibly more on TV Tropes. It's good, but not brilliant.

Do you mean episodes, or the specials?

Kinda hated the End of Time.

Loved the last couple episodes of series 4 though. There were some bad, even cheesey elements, but....I cared more for Donna leaving than any other member of the cast at that point.

I don't know why, perhaps because I heard that Tennant was a huge DW fan and was a life dream to play him that I knew he loved the role and played to the best of his ability.

With Blink, I love its the gold standard for reference. They created an absolutely terrifying monster and did a great story as well. It was interesting for me, because after I watched it, I watched it again to see how everything fit together so well having already viewed the ending. I think you know what I am trying to say here that it was one of those "special" episodes that you always rememer (Like Empty Child/Doctor Dances, The Eleventh Hour, A Good Man Goes To War.)
