Was it just me, or he just kinda disappeared?

yea..he just kinda fucked off.. pity cus he was really given a nice push. Both shawn and bret put him over by tapping to the ankle lock..
As i remember it he was the challenger to michaels after bret tapped out to the sharpshooter at the survivor series |

During his fued with Jericho he got injured, therefore what would have been his last PPV, Unforgiven, X-Pac subbed. Shamrock was going to only take time off to heal but as time went on he got more and more into the idea of MMA some more. He elected to walk out of his contract after nearly two years of "recovery."

There was another reason behind it - there was some kind of situation that related to merchandise, and while my memory is cloudy on the subject, I believe the situation was something along the lines of Shamrock believed he wasn't getting a fair share of the revenue of his merchandise as stipulated in his contract, WWE denied it, and Shamrock went through the trouble of getting lawyers on the situation and discovering that he was actually correct, and WWE was stiffing him on royalty checks. Of course, instead of realising they were in the wrong for stiffing him, they disliked Shamrock for going out of his way to find out he was being stiffed.
Anyways, I'm sure there is more to the story, but that is a brief synopsis of what led to Shamrock not returning. |

I remember he was negotiating to come back in 2002 to feud with Kurt Angle but it didn't happen because he was mad about not getting an easy schedule that the nWo got.
