Brock Lesnar files lawsuit against wwe

Brock Lesnar has filed suit against WWE, claiming his no-compete clause that took effect upon leaving WWE is preventing him from earning a living. After being released from the Vikings practice squad, Brock Lesnar had approached WWE about possibly making a return. However, he had been making ridiculous demands, and therefore WWE did not want to sign him back.

It has now come to light that the no-compete clause he signed does not expire until 2010, and includes the entire world as WWE is a global company. This means that Brock Lesnar is essentialy "locked out" of wrestling for the next 5 years, pending the result of this lawsuit.

Source: PWTorch, prowrestlingnews

--------------------------------------------

i guess he ain't coming back at wrestlemania then.
so it looks like we won't see brock for another five years

Nah, the court will likely rule in Lesnar's favour. 5 years is a little longer than usual for no-compete clauses and the entire world is much too big a scope.

However, he is still an idiot for agreeing to something that long.

Yeah, I have my B Law book, if a judge deems it an unreasonable amount of time he can reduce the time, void the remaining time, or allow Lesnar to buy out his contract for X amount of dollars.

What's he going to be brided with, Lesnar's getting desperate for change.

Seriously, I've stood by the guy, and I appreciate everything he's done for the WWE, and respect his dreams and such, but if he signed the God-damned thing it's his own fault.

The judge may side with Lesnar, but to be honest, I think that if someone is foolish to sign an official contract reviewed by his lawyers and explained to him, they deserve to pay the full price.

Lesnar left the WWE high and dry so he could go and play football, he got desperate, agreed to something he shouldn't have, because he hasn't had much success with it, and now he wants back and surprise, surprise HE CAN'T GET IT!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! And now he's burned his bridges with the WWE.

Seriously though, I think showing the judge the contract with Lesnar's name attached should be enough for the WWE to win this one, but unfortunately he may win.

I have a feeling the judge will decide that Brock Lesnar working in Japan, which is fairly secretive to WWE's viewers won't harm the WWE, and they'll reduce the sentence to being continent-wide or something. Maybe they'll just lift PRIDE and organisations like that from the contract?

I'm not an expert on the law, but I really think it is unfair that Lesnar claims the WWE is preventing him from earning a living when it is him that signed the contract and rejected the WWE.

Lesnar filing a law suit is just retarded! He's the one that signed the contract.

And the fact that the moron is saying that they are trying to keep him from earning a living is about the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Hey Lesnar, instead of asking for more money than what you use to make for working less dates why don't you do the smart thing? Apologize to Vinnie Mac for leaving him high and dry, agree to come back at a small pay cut and working the same amount of dates and I gurantee you Vince would of taken you back and gee guess what you would be back making more money than you would of in the NFL. But now that you've filed this stupid claim you can forget about ever working in the WWE again. Fucking Dumbass! :foc:

I can not tell you how happy I am that Brock Lesnar doesn't get to touch wrestling for another 5 years...fuck him. I will certainly not shed a single tear for him, and actually I hope he never makes a return to Wrestling. Unlimited potential, and he threw it away...the ultimate push, and he pissed on it...given a national platform on which to make his name, and he walked away. In life we must live with the choices we make, Brock made this choice, and now he must live with it. I stand by WWE 100% (wow I havn't said that in a long time) if he begins to work elsewhere it might give them traction to challenge WWE, and WWE shouldn't be forced to compete with what THEY created. Fuck Brock Lesnar, I am happy to know he will be the Next Big Thing in line at the unemployment office.

I can not fathom why he did not notice that little clause in his contract to begin with.

From what I know from contract law, which is pretty good cause I took 2 semesters of it in the past year, WWE will win. Plus WWE has better and more lawers than Brock can afford. Plus, I'm pretty sure, that WWE would settle out of court way before they lose. Brock is pretty much fucked.

That will learn him to break a contract.

Because the moron thought he was going to be a big NFL star and that he would never go back to pro wrestling.

I can't express how pissed off this lawsuit makes me.

First off, Brock Lesnar is a dumbass for ever signing a five year no compete clause.

Secondly, I admire the fact that he walked away from millions of dollars to go pursue a dream.

Thirdly, I hardly call trying to make the NFL within less than a year, after not playing since high school, trying to capture your dreams. If he really wished to make the NFL, I would hope he would have it in him to at least try and make another attempt. Or at least play in a minor league and work his way up to the NFL and pay some dues.

What this looks like is that Brock Lesnar just likes the money. Probally blown away half his money already on toys and now reconizes he is just a musclehead wrestler with no real education to fall back onto for the next five years.

A five year no compete clause is kind of unreasonable. I would bet the courts cut some time off of the no compete clause. Although, he signed it. So, I really feel the courts should make him honor his word and the contract he signed.

Watch it all be a cleverly disguised work in which one of the options from court is for brock to either go back to work for WWE at the same rate as his contract, or he is stuck with the no compete clause.

I lost respect for him when he left the WWE high and dry, but I don't see the harm in bringing him back, and I am surprised they haven't. God knows they need the drawing power Lesnar would/could have, and they need that right now.

Plus the man is talented, and I always watched Smackdown and PPVs JUST to see him. Can't say I wouldn't mind watching him perform again.

In the business world, 5 years is about standard for a no-compete clause.

Don't know about pro wrestling though.

However, it's appropriate. They let him out of wrestling for them, he chose to say he would not wrestle for that duration in order to get out of being contractually obliged for that duration. Basically, Brock's in court to argue that he was too fucking stupid.

However, he likely does stand a good chance of winning, which is kind of sad. I'd like to smack him upside the head for being this much of a whiny, retarded little bitch.

...However, I choose life.

Well, lets hope this judge isn't a moron.

"Sir, I've reviewed this contract and it offers absolutely no coverage whatsoever. It just says 'Volcano Insurance' over and over again and on the bottom it says 'He's signing it. He's signing it. I can't believe he's signing it.'"

"So?"

"So just refund this man's money and we'll be on our way."

"I can't do that! I don't have any money!"

"What about that jar of money over there?"

"But that's Lois' rainy day fund. I can't--oh crap."

k... I'm back. Still pissed off about this thing. Let me see if I can get this all straight. Maybe it will help others if they have questions about this.

Lesnar trained for years to become a big name in pro wrestling, to get a job in the WWE and make the big bucks. WWE notices him, signs him and begins working on way to introduce "the Next Big Thing". WWE pumps a lot of money into Brock to build him up into a star, they even have Legends like Flair and Hogan job to him. The icing on the cake is when the WWE has Lesnar when the WWE Undisputed Title from the Rock. For the next couple of years Lesnar pretty much dominates Smackdown and is constantly in the main event picture. WWE is paying Lesnar millions at this point and have even given him his own private jet to make his traveling problems easier. One day Brock just announces he's going to quit to follow his dream of being an NFL star. He walks out on the company who made him who he is and which incidently even made it any little bit possible for him to get the kind of try out he got with the Minn. Vikings. Do you really think anyone else who hasn't played football since High School would of gotten that far in the training camp as he did? On his way out WWE says, "If you want out of your contract you need to sign this no compete clause, meaning that you will not be able to wrestle, cage fight, or shoot fight for any other companies in the world until the year 2010." Lesnar goes ahead and signs it figuring that he's about to become a big NFL star and he'll never come back to wrestling. Once it became obvious that Lesnar's dreams of being an NFL star were not going to happen he starts calling WWE to get his job back. One catch he's not calling to fullfill his old contract, no, he's asking for more money and to work less dates. Why in the world does he think WWE will go for that? He walked out on the company when they needed him, he bombed in the NFL (if he had made some kind of impact then maybe it would of given WWE a reason to take him back) and he's asking for more money for less work? So, anyways, WWE and Vince don't return his phone calls because... well, would you? So his bright idea instead of sucking it up and lowering his asking price and working all the dates that the other WWE wrestlers do he tries to sue them so he can get out of the "no compete" clause to wrestle somewhere else. Yeah, like the WWE is going to let that happen. Brock, if by some small chance you're reading this do yourself a favor and drop the lawsuit and swallow your pride. You had it good in WWE, you had a contract for millions of dollars, you had a private jet, you had fans that worshipped you, and you were made the youngest champion at that time. Wake up, man, and realize you're blowing this whole thing.
