I'd pretty much totally tuned out of new releases all year, but the ones I can actually remember loving:

Frank Turner - Love, Ire And Song
Firewater - The Golden Hour
Steven Wilson - Insurgentes
Enslaved - Vertebrae
Bitcrush - Epilogue In Waves
Omar Rodriguez-Lopez - Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fungus (although he did release 3 solo albums this year, and they're all pretty good)
Genghis Tron - Board Up The House
5ive - Hesperus
These Arms Are Snakes - Tail Swallower and Dove
Torche - Meanderthal

The only ones I've heard were

Chinese Democracy
Saints of Los Angeles
Death Magnetic

So by default they are it.

My #1 and #2 are set, the rest are not in order.

1. Valencia - We All Need a Reason to Believe
2. House of Heroes - The End is Not The End

Rise Against - Appeal To Reason
Senses Fail - Life is Not a Waiting Room
Anberlin - New Surrender
Hit The Lights - Skip School, Start Fights
Thrice - The Alchemy Index, Vols. I-IV
The Years Gone By - Forever Comes Too Soon

Houston Calls and Alkaline Trio's two releases were a bit disappointing.

I have yet to hear Gaslight Anthem's new one

Overall this was a weak year for the kind of music I like. But in 2009 we will have Four Year Strong (I haven't had this much hype for a release since Blink 182's TOYPAJ), New Found Glory, Set Your Goals, Wonder Years, Green Day, Strike Anywhere, etc..

You're the first person on here I've met who has mentioned The Wonder Years.

The Slipknot album really grew on me. I downloaded it a while ago, but never really listend to it. Dead Memories and Psychosocial are always played on the radio so those somewhat grew on me. My favorite song is Snuff though. I usually listen to all 30 gigs of my music on random and Snuff came on and i fell in love with that song.
