Tag Title Holders in the main event
When was the last time that two main event-level guys held the tag titles (for more than a day or week or whatever)? I know the 'E wants to rebuild the tag division and that's great, but wouldn't it peak interest more if two big time guys had the straps as well as being in main scene?

Only team that comes to mind is Power Trip. Then again they weren't even really a real tag team as much as two guys that got together and won the tag titles.

That's all I could think of.
Did Evolution ever have them? |

Wikipedia tells me that yes, Batista and Flair got it twice.
Not sure if they were main eventing then, though. |

No. They were clearly upper-mid when they were a team. That's why they would always take the fall during 6-man tags against the Shield.
I hate when two top guys are champion because they usually squash a great team to do so to feed their egos. |

So that being said, do we need two big name stars to hold the titles for a brief period again? Or just stick to building up the tag division as its own thing?

No. That takes away from the division more than anything. Two guys who do not really care about the titles has them and crushes everyone who is suppose to be a master at tag team matches like nothing.

Shawn/Austin defeating the best team of the late 1990s Owen Hart and the British Bulldog. That did nothing except derail both Owen and Bulldog's momentum. Made the tag team belts into props.
Batista and Rey beating MNM for the WWE Tag Team Championship. |

Last 'Big Names to team up and win the tag titles' was Show and Kane in April 2011. Though you'd argue they weren't working on top at the time.
John Cena & The Miz were in the midst of their Mania feud when they won the titles together in February 2011. They lost them on the same show. Personally I hate the whole deal with main event guys winning the tag belts. |
