Best of all time. Angle. How many more rounds before the HoF round?

What we have is the greatest in ring worker of all time vs one ofnthe top draws (adjusting for inflation) of all time.
Both are insanely charismatic. Both cut great promos. Dusty edges Kurt out on both though. Dusty was the ultimate everyman. Always trying to achieve and overcome. He's exactly how you book a guy with his build (a lesson Steen could learn from but that's another topic.) Dusty, especially if we inculde his booking, has one of the largest impacts on wrestling of all time. The way he crafted his stories, in and out of the ring, are the blue print that all western wrestling is based off of. Kurt blows dusty away on in ring but that is really the only metric that i can put Angle over Dusty. |

Dusty up till 86 was fucking incredible. Angle is a top 5 worker imo.
So tough to choose. Gonna go with Dusty. |

Maybe I'm too young but I've never been a Dusty Rhodes fan, sorry to say I didn't like his promos either. Angle easily.

Dusty was better on the mic and more charismatic but he doesn't blow Angle away in those categories. Angle more than closes the gap when you compare them in the ring. Think I've gotta give the slight edge to Angle. But I'm probably gonna wait to cast my vote. Might change my mind.

Dusty. He's iconic. Angle had a good to great run but Dusty is GOAT level in terms of the overall history of professional wrestling. What he also gave as a booker, trainer, commentator, ambassador and everything else. Kurt was great but in the end all he gave was in the ring. He is too much of a libility to be a producer/road agent and he has never shown any indication of being a trainer. Maybe that'll change when he officially retires but I doubt it.
Kurt Angle should be in for some hard times daddy. |

Nah people can literally vote because they saw one match and thought it was bad. Totally valid. A persons reasons are their own.

I'd much rather listen to any Kurt Angle than hear Dusty ramble on about hard times. Dusty might've helped a lot of people in NXT, but I'd prefer to watch Kurt Angle than any of them. Dusty might've drawn big gates, but I'd rather watch Kurt Angle than old school Dusty Rhodes vs. Ric Flair etc. That's not to say I don't like old school wrestling, just not really when it involves Dusty. The best Dusty Rhodes singles match I think I've seen was one of his Starrcade main events with Ric Flair (I forgot which one, I'm pretty sure it was '85 but I could be mistaken. Whichever one had the clean finish) Kurt Angle always drew my interest, even before he debuted when he was doing those interviews, I was captivated. I've never felt like that with anything that I've watched involving Dusty Rhodes. And it's ironic, I've got the same build as Dusty, you'd think I'd relate to him more. Angle by a mile. |

And also, this is according to Angle, I don't have the actual doctor's words obviously, but Angle says even after years of drug abuse he has no liver damage. He's not self destructing anymore.

And I accidentally left out that when I was a kid, just as into wrestling as I am now, anytime I flipped on WCW and Dusty was on the commentary team I'd flip the channel. He took me out of everything.
Still Kurt by a mile. |

After long deliberation I'll have to go Dusty. While I was too young to see his stuff live I've seen plenty with my dad (Dusty was one of his favorites.) Dusty is one of the few guys from that era who I legit enjoy watching, and the memories with my dad magnify that.

Gotta go with Dusty. You have to keep in mind things like Dusty's charisma, presence, drawing power, legacy and "X-Factor." Kurt Angle might be technically better in the ring and may have provided some subjectively more entertaining segments, but who has left the more influential stamp on professional wrestling. It's Dusty.
As always, I find the simplest way to sum up my voting is to look at who I would rather have if I was starting a professional wrestling promotion -- Dusty in his prime, or Angle. Although Angle is certainly tempting on a critical level, if I want to make money, I'd be a fool to turn down Dusty. |

Tough choice but gave the edge to Dusty for the vote.
Both were great for their eras and both are among the greats of wrestling. Didn't see much of Dusty's work but from what I've seen, Angle takes the nod for better in-ring skills and Dusty takes the nod as the better talker overall. Ended up going with Dusty mainly because of legacy especially in regards to being a huge factor for NXT's rise in the WWE and popularity. |

Angle is behind early. As a former first ballot HoF going out in the 3rd would be a huge upset

Dusty was way before my time, and when I got into wrestling his in-ring days were dying down, if not already over. I mostly remember him as an associate of the NWO back in the day.
Angle anyway. |

I just remember when Dusty Rhodes got to the big time (WWF) he floundered and went back to WCW, and this was after he already had a reputation as a legend (I think anyways.) Kurt Angle went to WWF and within 6 months he'd already won two championships and was one of the most entertaining people on the roster.
I've seen plenty of the Dusty-4 Horsemen feud, and yes it was good, but that wasn't all Dusty by any means. Really surprised at the results right now, figured this would be a cake walk for Kurt. |

Theybtried to bury Dusty so if he ever left he'd be damaged good. He took a shit gimmick and got super fucking over. You're literally trying to bury a guy over stuff you admit you never saw. |

Dusty was extremely over during his run. You said that he sucked in the WWF when clearly if you actually watched his matches you'd see how over he was.

Almost all wrestlers say they wanted to go to WWF if they had a choice, hence me calling it "big time." That doesn't mean I consider the NWA to be an indy, that's me saying WWF was number 1. Undertaker took a shit gimmick and really got himself over. Dusty had a shit gimmick and didn't really do anything with it, he was just over because people knew who he was. (That right there is my opinion and not a proveable fact obviously.) Like I said before, if you can show me something Dusty did that maybe I overlooked I'm more than open to it, but as of right now (and I've always thought this) Dusty Rhodes is probably the most overrated wrestler ever. Obviously that's just one man's opinion, you're more than welcome to try to change that opinion instead of just saying it's revisionist history. |

And while I'm at it, we're debating whether or not Dusty made anything out of the shit he got in WWF. Nothing Kurt Angle did in wrestling was shit.

The notiin that someones work has more value because they did it in the garden pre-2000 is narrow minded and inaccurate

Never saw much of Dusty Rhodes. No doubt he had the bigger "impact" and "legacy" in the biz, but I can't comment on pretty much anything else for him.
Don't know if I feel "right" voting Kurt Angle by default, though...... I may yet. |

Kurt Angle had a very entertaining rookie year and had a fun feud with Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, The Rock, and Triple H in his first year and they were all very fun. He has awesome moments like the milk truck segment. He can be a face or heel and sell it. He's one of the only people that can actually get a crowd to boo him when it's necessary. He's had countless classic matches with countless different people. And I think his TNA run is very underrated with just as many classic moments there as he did in WWE. The only things from Dusty that I really liked were his Starrcade 85 match with Flair, he was awesome in those wargames matches... what else was must see about Dusty Rhodes? |
