Chris Jericho should've won the Universal title after Finn Balor got injured
Think about it. There's about 8 people on the roster that can make that title mean something now that Finn doesn't have the chance to. Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Triple H, Randy Orton, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, AJ Styles, and Chris Jericho.

Brock Lesnar is losing his mystique, just tested positive for drugs, and isn't on the show very often so he wouldn't make much sense as champion.

John Cena is on SmackDown!

Triple H isn't wrestling at the moment and isn't even on screen at the moment.

Randy Orton is on SmackDown!

Seth Rollins is the likely choice to win it but people were already pretty tired of his run before he got injured.

Roman Reigns is the 2nd most likely choice, but the fans would not agree at all.

AJ Styles is on SmackDown!

Chris Jericho is a main event name that mixes it up with all talent on the card. He can go from and IC Title match to a World Title match with no one questioning anything because he's already proven himself. All he needs to say is he was the first undisputed champion to get himself over and build his credibility back, while also getting quite a few impressive but competitive wins like he can do that put over both himself and the opposing talent.

Kevin Owens could've been acceptable at this point if they kept him in the main event after his feud with John Cena but he's been at the upper mid card ever since. Chris Jericho winning the belt could do wonders for him as well.

Say Jericho won it tonight. He could feud with Rollins and Reigns at the next few PPV's and get clean singles wins over both of them and maybe even a triple threat victory with the help of Owens who battles off whoever Rollins has helping him.

After Owens helps Jericho he asks Chris if he will return the favor from last night and give him a title shot. Chris acts like he's hurt by Kevin asking something like this and then blasts him with the belt when his back is turned. He pummels him.

We get a blood feud between these two and Chris keeps cheating out victories after getting his ass handed to him by Kevin on two occasions. Kevin Owens IS a main eventer by the end of these matches... but by the time Mick Foley grants Kevin his third rematch Sami Zayn has earned himself a shot at the Universal Title. They both want the match on the same date, so Foley makes it a triple threat. I'd probably have Zayn win this one by pinning Owens one more time but this time to win his first major singles title in the WWE. I'm thinking this happens at TLC or Raw or something before the Royal Rumble. Chris Jericho wants his rematch at the PPV. Kevin Owens wants his rematch but isn't getting one, he got beat fair and square and has to enter the Royal Rumble if he wants a shot at Zayn and his Universal title. Zayn beats Jericho at the Rumble clean in a great match, putting him over as a main eventer and sending Jericho back to Fozzy. Meanwhile, in the main event Owens eliminated the returning Finn Balor to win the Royal Rumble.

There you have Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn for the Universal title at WrestleMania not feeling forced because of Chris Jericho winning the belt.

Stand in the face of adversity!

I'd have been fine with Jericho as Universal Champion actually. I like Owens as champ. Still not sure if he should have won it that way, but long-term it might actually work out well that way.

I like that Triple H is with Owens and I hope it works out and makes Owens kind of what The Rock was in 1998 or better. Still feel like this would've been the better route to go but who knows, maybe Jericho isn't going to be around long enough to do what I said.

Or he's not interested in the title. Jericho might be happy working with younger guys and putting them over since he's only around in stints.

Credit to Jericho, this stint has lasted since January! I remember last year someone made a thread and I kinda agreed that I was getting bored of his stints as they only really lasted a couple of months, and nothing really significant happened.

This time around, he's been pretty much a full-time roster member for almost a year, has consistently put on great matches and has really blended in perfectly as the "old guy" for this generations roster.

And his chemistry with Kevin Owens if fucking brilliant.
