cd-rw help :)

Alright i got a TDK cd-rw and i have a problem :\
No matter what type of media i burn( data, vcd,svcd,avi,etc) there always seems to be a problem. There is a scratch on the cd but it is deep enough to screw up the cd whenever my dvd player or cd-rom drive tries to read the disc. Like for example if i have an audio file at a certain part of the cd it will just skip and then continue. Same with with a vcd, the vcd plays fine on my computer( without burning to cd-rw) but when i burnt in on a cd-rw and play it on my computer( via powerdvd) and on my dvdplayer at the same point weather i play it on my dvdplayer or computer the video starts to freeze and skip. Is there any method that i could use to possibly fix this?
