Good movie for what it was. I loved the look of it and the fight scenes were great.
I wouldn't see it again though. |

No it wasn't, it was a thinly disguised attack on the Muslim people of the world by the West. |

10,000 slow motion kills in one movie is fucking gaytarded.
If I wanted to watch a movie in slow motion, I'd buy a movie on DVD and hit the button to slow down the action sequences. Most of the visuals in the movie were signs of a lazy, uncreative mind, reused ad nauseum. |

I made a joke about that, actually.
To be honest, I probably would have loved the slow-mo, if it wasn't used in every scene for every kill ever. I think even Leonitys' wife got "bullet time'd" in this one. |

Out of curiosity to anyone who's read the original Miller comic, did he actually laud this stuff? On the other hand, anyone bitching about a war movie being propaganda needs to shut up. 90% of the genre is propaganda. Watch it or don't, but it's as stupid as complaining about blood in an action movie. |

Oh, man. I downloaded Miller's comic, and the dialogue comes from the book directly. I can't believe Miller wrote something this terrible.

Well, I never take Destor seriously.
As for yours, I'm sure you are the lone exception to the universal inability to precisely detect intonation on the internet, so I'll forgive you for your misgivings. |

What? I was saying if you took the message of the movie seriously then you're a pretentious douchebag.
Jesus, it's based (loosely) on history from over thousands of years ago lol. Of course the ideals in it aren't going to be something we can fully agree on. Greeks were all about the faux democracy and being "free" people. It doesn't change the fact that the Spartans were inherently badass motherfuckers, which was the entire point of the movie. If you were looking for anyting else, you're a fuckwit. |

OK, so I've now seen it. TIoE hits my thoughts on pretty much. I'm glad I saw it, and I'd even say it was worth the price of admission, I'd not watch it again however. Gladiator was a far better movie, for example. I didn't care for the characters in this thing. like the father/son thing. I didn't tear up when the son died or when the wife gave herself to the Senator dude. None of that was done in a manner that gave any impact whatsoever. Good enough movie for an visual action movie.

It would have been better with more fight scenes and less talking.
What was the point of the weird looking guys with the oracle? It was good enough, not really that interesting now that I've watched it though. |

The Spartans went to them for mystical advice. The advice he got was corrupted by the Persians. That's why only 300 went to battle. These elders said no war until after the August full moon... or whatever. |

I got that. I was hoping I had missed something that referenced them later tbh. Just seemed to say here they are, this is what they are, listen to them.

well when he was climbing the mountain to their temple he talked about how they were from a time passed, before reason 'so to speak'. Their word was law.
Like most of the movie everything is rushed to get to the action scenes. |

I.E. the important part. That's all this movie was. Fuck a story. I want to see people getting stabbed in the neck with huge spears.

That movie was sick. That angel lady had BIG NIPPLES. And all the warriors had six packs. I'm like...damn. Some fag next to me was crying at the end and I tried my best not to bust out laughing. That movie was awsome though.

Yea. " His helmet covers his eyes, he cannot see. He shield is too heavy, he cannot carry it." And it was awsome when the wife stabbed the Council member. I hope they come out with a sequel no matter how unlikely it is. Even if the sequel would be horrible I'd still want to see it.

I dont think the movie was trying to touch anyone as much as it was just wanting to show a bunch of baddasses kill a motherfucker as brutaly as possible.
I agree, the ending was amazing. It pretty much summed up what the Spartans were about. There victory was to draw the princes blood and die a glorified death and that final scene was perfect. |

The sequel could be when the Spartans allied with the Persians to attack Athens. Like they did.
