When did you realize Vince McMahon owned the WWF
I started watching the WWF in 1987 when I was 5 and probably didn't realize Vince owned the company till at the earliest 1996.
Always thought he was just an announcer. |

I didn't get into wrestling until well into the Attitude Era, so Vince was always "the guy who owns the place" to me.

The steroid scandal in 1992. The had a report about it on Hard Copy or one of those tabloid shows and it said Vince was the owner. Lost all respect for Jack Tunney after that. He was just on air talent

Yeah not to be all "I knew any before anyone else" but right before they launched the WBF there was an article in one my my dads magazines he showed me. I learned then that he was the owner, and in better shape than just about every wrestler as well. so that was like 1990

1996-1997 when my dad told me, and it still didn't sink in fully until after the screwjob.

When ECW "invaded" the WWF and Heyman kept praising Vince for allowing them air time.

I think I knew for as long as I can remember because my dad and grandma were wrestling fans and I knew important stuff like that.

Pretty sure it was mentioned in the papers here when they did Summerslam in '92, I don't think I gave any real thought to it ever though.

I realized how smart it was putting himself as the lead announcer, being able to control the amount of hype each person gets

Attitude Era. That's when I started watching WWF. Took me a while to figure it out, though, cause it was on German sports television called DSF, so I didn't really know what the promos were about or anything.

Have you guys seen recent pics of Vince? He looks way skinnier right now. I think he might be pretty sick.

I think I figured it out around the time I first got on the net.
That was like 1996. I found out that Vincent. J. McMahon was the promoter of the WWWF and it all sorta clicked into place. |
