isn't challenger warning mean unlockables? Cause that flashed in the last game and you would have to face them to unlock them?

It's said that for all the new characters, and on the website, they're listed as newcomers, so I thinks it's just their way of announcing the players new to the series.

Sonic: Special Moves
The original Sonic the Hedgehog game used only one button. I think that its simple yet exhilarating gameplay was its virtue.
And given that this game’s controls are also simple, I think it personifies his distinctive characteristics. Side Special Move: Spin Dash Yeah, you have to have this. Hop into a supersonic Spin Dash. If you charge it up just a bit, your speed will increase. It’s also possible to rise up while spinning. Spin Dash, jump. A two-hit combo. Then keep pursuing with a midair attack! And do a Spin Dash in midair to return. That, too? Down Special Move: Spin Charge By holding the Control Stick down and tapping the special-move button, you charge up your spin and do a Spin Dash. This may feel better for some, as there’s no pop. KEEEEEEEEEE! Up Special Move: Spring Jump And his up special move is the Spring Jump. That spring launches you waayyy up in the air. That’s high! You might not use it on the ground much, but rumour has it that if you do, the spring that remains can be used by other characters. Ah! It’s true. |

That date sucks for you guys because it's 2 months longer than you thought it would be but I heard the PAL release date would be about the same time as the US date so I'm just glad we even have a date, even if it is a few days/weeks longer than the US date.

Is anyone else hoping for at least one more Sonic character? Knuckles or Tails would kick ass.

IGN Wii:
October 11, 2007 - After Nintendo's Japan announcement of the delay of Smash Bros. Brawl, American gamers instantly began speculating the meaning of that announcement for the US release of Nintendo's battler. Just moments ago at Nintendo's media summit in San Francisco, CA, vice president of marketing and corporate communications George Harrison has confirmed that the game will be getting a delay in the US as well, hitting stores on Sunday, February 10 of 2008. While this delay is of course disappointing for the hardcore crowd, who have been dead set on getting a taste of Brawl in 2007, Harrison remained extremely optimistic on the subject, mentioning Sonic's involvement in the game, the attempt by Nintendo to reach out to top characters from around the gaming industry, and the mysterious comments Iwata made less than 24 hours ago, stating that Smash would allow gamers to share content with each other both online and off. As expected, there's still more to the Smash story than we know. |

Taking Snapshots
While playing the game, you might encounter an interesting situation. At times like this, you must PAUSE!
Stop the action and look at the scene from all different directions. If that pause in the action makes for an interesting shot that you wish you could keep, then by all means, do so. Take a SNAAAAAAAPSHOT! If you’re on the pause screen, you can snap a photo anytime! Like this. Take funny snapshots... As often as you like! You can take snapshots like the images we’ve shown here on Smash Bros. Dojo. We had a snapshot mode in the past, but you couldn’t take a snapshot anytime in the middle of a match. And they were saved to a GameCube Memory Card—it wasn’t like you could save several dozens of photos. However! This time there are SD cards! With those, you’ll have room to save plenty of snapshots! Just give it a name and save it to either location. But wait! There’s more! "Send"??? This feature allows you to send your snapshots to people you’ve registered as Friends for Nintendo WFC play. So you can give them funny little screenshots as presents. You can view them in the Album. Don’t you think you’d be happy to suddenly get a funny photo from a friend? Perhaps online brawling isn’t the only way to compete. Uh, as for that thing that’s blurred out, that’s still a secret. We’re still in development, so I apologise in advance if it gets dropped, but we are thinking of one more trick for this mode. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- My guess is, the "blurred" thing will be some kind of edit mode. Drawing on the snapshots etc. A few other bits of info I've came across. There are two videos on Gamevideos.com and one is Sonic Vs Link. In Sonic Vs Link we are told that you don't just grab Smashballs. It floats around the screen and you chase it and keep hitting it until it breaks. Whoever breaks it gets the Final Smash. They showed the laser sword again and this time it's blue instead of pink. They also said the homerun bat will have unique animations for each character. The other video is Samus Vs Mario and shows the character select screen and we hear the voice over guy. I don't think it's the same guy from Melee. Character entrances are back and Advance Wars has an Assist Trophy. Tiny sprites from the game appear and charge you off the stage. |

I'm wondering how many people are going to do a Mario vs Sonic brawl. It'll probably be an event match anyway, if they bring event matches back.

New Pork City
The scale of this stage is one of the grandest in the Smash Bros series. The scale is, say, about the same as that Temple stage - you know the one I’m talking about?
It’s New Pork City. It is a city of chaos. It’s too detailed to fully understand... The buildings are like...billboards? At any rate, it’s big, so if all someone does is run away, there will be no end to it. But with so much freedom, it becomes a giant playground. There’s quite a lot of freedom. Also, a monster known as the "Ultimate Chimera" appears on this stage. The-there it is! If this guy sinks his teeth into you, it will launch you off in one blow. It’s pretty much certain that if you get hit, you’ll lose a life. But there’s nothing you can do. I mean, it IS the Ultimate Chimera. I’m no match for hiiiiiiiiiiiim... |

STADIUM: Home-Run Contest
What is the Home-Run Contest? It’s a competition to see who can hit Sandbag the farthest in just ten seconds!
You see Sandbag and a character on the platform. At the start, it’s just you and Sandbag. Then you just beat Sandbag silly, filling up his damage meter. There’s only a 10-second time limit! Grab the Home-Run Bat on the ground and do a smash attack with it before the time runs out! THWACK! You launch him! Fly! Flyyy! Compete for the longest distance. Flight distances are recorded for each character. Go! Break the record! Set your own!! But this time... there are four differences! 1: The stadium platform is protected by a shield. Whoa! This nice feature keeps you from falling. If you don’t put some force into it, you won’t break through the shield, so you can pummel Sandbag to your heart’s content. This will surely allow you to string together some new combos. 2: Two players can play together. Incredible! Two can enjoy it! As a tag team, you can challenge yourselves to set even greater records. You’ll have to work perfectly together, though. 3: Two-player alternating play. Compete for distance in two matches! It’s just like a real track and field event. You compete to see who can send Sandbag flying the farthest. 4: Online competitions. You can’t tell from this shot, but this is an online match. This option can be found under With Friends. And it supports both the two-player cooperative and two-player alternating modes. This is some rather rich functionality. This mode alone could take up a lot of your time. Amazing, isn’t it? |

Meowth
Meowth. It’s considered a major Pokémon, but it did not show up in Super Smash Bros. Melee. It now makes its first appearance since the original Smash Bros. Meowth appears! It unleashes a slow coin barrage! They call this Pay Day, but it’s not like Meowth’s getting any coins out of it. It doesn’t appear to throw the coin on its forehead. Huh? That definitely appears to be a coin on its forehead, but what do you suppose they call it in Japan? Maybe if you check the Japanese version of Smash Bros. Dojo you can find out. (Of course, you need to be able to read Japanese!) |

How to use the Wii Remote
Believe it or not, you can use four different controller types with this game! But everyone seems to be most interested in how the Wii Remote works when held sideways.
Please allow me to explain. +Control Pad : Move Press left or right to walk and press up to jump. If you’re in a real hurry, press twice. Press left or right twice to dash and press down for a short time to fall through some platforms. Press sideways twice to dash! 2 Button : Basic Moves Just press the button for a standard attack. Press it while pressing a direction on the +Control Pad for a strong attack. You can perform smash attacks in one of the following ways: 1: Press the 1 Button and the 2 Button at the same time. 2: Press the 2 Button and any direction on the +Control Pad at the same time. Just pick whichever one is easiest for you!! Press the 2 Button at the same time you press up, sideways or down! 1 Button : Special Moves The direction you press will determine what kind of special move you do. You have four special moves depending on the direction you pick: neutral, up, sideways and down. B Button : Shield This is in a kind of hard-to-press area, but the button for your shield is near your left index finger. To dodge, hold down the B Button and press in a direction. To grab, hold down the B Button and press the 2 Button. To throw an item, hold down the B Button and press the 2 Button. Using the – Button is the same as pressing B Button and 2 Button. Grab away! A Button : Taunt That’s all! Right now, to grab a Smash Ball, you have to beat on it, not just touch it. Don’t forget! Be the first to pummel it! When you get a Smash Ball, try a standard special move. In other words, just press the button for your special move without a direction. You will then perform your Final Smash. This is the same for all control schemes, so keep that in mind. Is it really possible to enjoy playing the game without the Control Stick? No need for concern – I bet you can play it quite smoothly and simply...maybe. How about a little mental training before the time comes when you actually control it? |

Little Mac
Once there was a legendary man. He knocked heavyweight boxers many times his own size to the mat en route to a WVBA title. Little Mac appears from Punch Out! I can do it! I’m the one! ...But isn’t he a little small? He may be small, but don’t underestimate him. He’s a real fighter. A fierce dash! One! Two! Powerful jabs! And his special move is his uppercut! Resurrecting this legend for the current generation is something we can all enjoy just a bit. He is an Assist Trophy. |
