After the year-long build-up, and the two+ years of his rising popularity, this is a sad way for his reign to end. Especially as it never really got started properly.
Hopefully he'll have a safe and speedy recovery, and will be right back in the title chase when he returns. |

This may actually be good for him long-term. He has now had four world title runs; one ended in a quickie fluke loss which galvanized the crowd support he had begun to enjoy. One ended in a MitB cash-in screwjob. One ended in an evil-authority procedural screwjob. Now he's being stripped of the title for legitimate injury reasons. He can very rightly make the claim that he has never truly been beaten for a world title.
I also wish him a speedy recovery... but not so much a speedy return. I think the best thing for him to do now would be to return at Survivor Series and cost someone the title (maybe whoever wins MitB this year,) and then be forced to beat Kane at whatever the December PPV is these days in order to get into the Rumble. |

Maybe it can give birth to a Yes Movement 2.0
Honestly, his chase for the title was the best thing going for a long while, and HHH managed to create a reeeeally good heel persona from it all. They are beginning to blend real life events into their story lines - this will be no exception. As big as he got, I can see his comeback, and inevitable recapturing of the title being even bigger than his first. |

WWE needs to blatantly rip off the Austin/McMahon storyline and have The Authority refuse to allow Daniel Bryan to wrestle. Bryan's promos are good enough to carry that sort of angle.

This almost smells Survivor Series 98ish....good time for Hunter to make a tournament, let a face get all the way and win while turning and being the new member of Evolution.

According to Wrestleview:
* Daniel Bryan's music hit, but Stephanie McMahon came out instead. Says she is thinking of stripping Daniel Bryan of the WWE World Title and wants Bryan to show up at RAW next week to surrender over the WWE World Title. |

But seriously, as a fan of Bryan but someone who thinks him being world champion is ridiculous and terrible long-term, this is actually a bad thing. I'd rather have seen his title run run it's course over a few months like Benoit's before they take it off of him and phase him out of the title picture. This is going to stretch things out by giving them another "feel good story" by having him win the title back upon his return and starting the process over again.

maybe they can slap that title back onto Randy's waist and we can get the epic Orton/Cena feud to end all feuds over the summer.

And they can build Randy up as a great champion by having him lose non-title matches to jobbers again.

As long as they don't Ziggler him and have him get nowhere near the title again when he returns.
It's already been said but it really should work out well for them. Bryan loses the title without being beaten and returns to his underdog chasing the belt role, ideally against Brock. |

When Austin was champion, and got surgery on his neck, creative was able to use him and keep him red hot (Zamboni incident comes to mind)
If they write him off TV, it just shows how lacking they are in creative. |
