And if he doesn't debut.......well we can't complain I suppose with the PPV being "free".
I just don't want a Team Cena win as it would destroy any hopes of the potential storyline I secretly wish for i.e. Sting v The Authority. |

I'm against Cena having an integral role in this for the sole purpose that in the beginning he was never meant to be part of the storyline and perhaps only got pushed into it due to Bryan's untimely absence. Cena is a big star I'll give him that and perhaps up there with the biggest of all time given the number of PPVs he's headlined, WMs, title wins, the face of the company etc. But what more or less will it do for his character to "end the authority"? Didn't he already end "People Power"? And that was at an insignificant PPV and just as I was getting to enjoy that storyline...was quite funny Laurinitas coming out every with his boring monotone voice. LOL best moment was when he unveiled the WWE 2K12 cover with his face on it. I'd have bought it lol! CM Punk would have been another ideal figure to fight the Authority being a man of anarchy and never living by the rules. He was a PG-era Austin minus the bear and swearing. Cena is just "too face" and too bland a personality to deal with it. No amount of faux motivational speaking convinces me of his heroics. |

As someone who grew up on WCW, I've been waiting for Sting to show up at a WWE event for years. Now it's finally going to happen on a night when I probably won't be able to watch the event live.
Surely he's not wrestling though. I'd hope they would at least build that up ahead of time. |

I'm down for Sting vs. HHH/The Authority.
I'd be happy for him to appear as a surprise replacement for one of the Cena guys. I wouldn't be so keen on him coming in to be a GM. I'd be happy with Team Authority to win by nefarious means only for Sting to appear on the ramp, point his bat at The Authority, signalling that he's coming for them. However, I can't see Team Authority winning/Team Cena being fired as I can't see a way for those guys to come back with The Authority still in control. They could do something with Cena overcoming the odds to win the match only to be beat down by The Authority after the match. Lights go out, come back, Mercury & Noble are out cold. Lights go out again, come back on and Kane is out. Same for Seth, until HHH is left. Then you have the lights go out one last time, strobe light hits, house lights come up fully and Sting is on the stage. |

One possible scenario is they turn on Cena or refuse to be tagged in and one by one walk off much to the amusement of the Authority? |

Oh, it'd be kayfabe fired!? I hadn't realised. I thought they'd actually fire those guys for losing a scripted match.
Jesus. I guess those scenarios work but would they turn all those guys in one go? I guess they could have one guy turn to join The Authority and cost Team Cena the match and their jobs. Then have someone (Vince?) come out and install Sting in a GM role, he could then give the other guys their jobs back. Again, I do t like/want Sting in a GM role. |

XL, just out of interest, can I ask why you wouldn't like him in a GM role?

It almost removes the mystery that they could create around the Sting character.
I'm leaning towards them going back to the roots of the original "Crow" Sting; stalking The Authority from the rafters, a slow build to a match with HHH. Tying him up as a "suit" takes away that aspect of the character, and this point I'm pretty tired of there being an onscreen authority figure all of the time, opening every show. |

Yeah, that's a fair call.
But I guess that's why I'm accepting of it, because TNA took away the mystique of Sting. Having in a suit in MEM took away everything he built in WCW. I guess though, on the bright side, WWE has the power to make him back in to what he was if they choose to book him correctly. |

Yeah, but you came off a bitter of poster who's name I won't mention (Kane Knight) like it was wrong info because he didn't give a source. Be gentle on the new guy. Besides, he was right after all

Just rewatched it again. Loved it. The only bad part was that they apparently couldn't give him his real theme even though they used it in the 2k15 teasers.

I suppose so. I could understand easing a new theme in but shit, everybody knows the Crow theme. Not that it ruined the moment or anything, just would have put it over the top.

TNA is actually pretty good right now. They actually have interesting, coherent storylines outside of the main event scene - something WWE had lacked for a long time. I'm infinitely more interested in seeing stars groomed and personalities fleshed out in the middle of the card than watching the same few guys doing the same few things. Anyhow, that's beside the point. The point being that *I* have seen Sting in a GM role before and it wasn't great. I'd sooner he remain mysterious than over-exposed. |
