SD Spoilers 7/15
Michael Cole, Booker T, and Josh Mathews came out for WWE Smackdown. Josh went to the ring rather than the announcers' table.
Smackdown opens with World champion Randy Orton being interviewed by Josh Mathews inside the ring. He discusses his match against Christian at Money in the Bank. Christian appears on the Titantron and says he will become champion again. Christian says that Orton's father was a joke and he's just as pathetic as Cowboy Bob Orton. Orton says what is pathetic is Christian holding the title for five days. Ezekiel Jackson defeated Ted DiBiase to retain the Intercontinental Title. The end came when DiBiase went for Dream Street, which Zeke turned into the Torture Rack for the submission win. Daniel Bryan vs. Cody Rhodes is up next. Backstage, Ted DiBiase was looking disappointed. Cody entered and handed him the paper bag. He said he would give him one more chance, but if he loses again he will personally come to the ring and put the bag over his head. Cody Rhodes defeated Daniel Bryan. Teddy Long tells a referee to warn Mark Henry and Big Show that if there is any physicality between the two when they have a face to face later, their match at the PPV will be canceled. Kane comes into Long's office and thanks him for the match against Randy Orton. Kane says he doesn't feel like a monster anymore and asks Long what is happening to him. Long tells Kane that he's scaring the hell out of him. Wade came down to join the announce table and now I notice josh is there too, oops. Jinder was shown in the back getting pissed at a camera man. Backstage, someone has spraypainted Randy Orton's private bus with "ORTON SUX. TEDDY LONG = MORON. CHRISTIAN = UNCROWNED WORLD CHAMPION." Christian comes across it and acts shocked and says he can't imagine anyone would do this. Sin Cara defeated Sheamus. Sheamus dominated in the beginning, but after Sin Cara's 20 millionth reversal, he reversed Celtic Cross into a roll up and won via pinfall. After the match, Barrett laid out Sheamus. Christian was shown walking around the casino and claimed he found Orton's wallet. He took out $1,000 and bet it on No. 1 on a roulette table, because according to Orton's ID his birthday is April 1. "There is a joke there somewhere," says Christian. The ball landed on 20. "Looks like your lucks running out," Christian said. Teddy made his way down for the face off. Big Show entered the ring. Henry stayed on the ramp and they did their smack talk. Henry tried to enter the ring, but Teddy got in the way and said to save it for Sunday. Kelly Kelly beat Rosa Mendes. Loud pops for Kelly, as I guess no one expected to see her here. Johnny Curtis promo backstage. He says soon, the cat will be out of the bag, but pulls an elephant out of it and yells at an assistant in the room. He tells the man that the elephant in the room isn't until next week and rips up the stuffed animal. Justin Gabriel defeated Heath Slater. Slater missed a top rope moonsault. Gabriel hit his 450 splash and got the pinfall victory. Kane defeated Randy Orton via count out. 30 seconds into the match, Christian walked onto the ramp to watch the match. Orton went for an RKO, Kane reversed it and clotheslined Orton out. Christian walked down the ramp got orton to chase him around the ring to give Kane a victory via count out. Post match, Orton RKO'd Kane, Christian speared Orton, and beat on him. Christian went for a chair, but Orton fought back and took it from him. Christian ran off. Kane got a few chair shots while Christian watched from the ramp. I guess this is where the cameras cut off. Cody and Ted come down to beat on Orton, but ended up getting RKO'd. Christian ran down and was RKO'd twice. Orton shook hands and signed a few autographs |

I really disapprove of Sin Cara's pinfall victory over Sheamus.

I don't see a problem with it. It comes off less dominant than his other victories. Sheamus could probably use a win back down the track, though. Sounds like another good SmackDown!, and I'm eager to see what Gabriel and Slater do against each other.

So have Gabriel and Slater split up? Or was this a one-off match leading into MitB?

They should be a team. England and Ireland have always gotten along.
What's that? |

Yeah thats what I'm saying. Barrett and Sheamus should be like a modern day British Bulldogs. Only one of them is Irish.

Sin Cara and Trent Baretta should be like a modern day American Males. Only none of them is Bagwell.

It's Friday night in Providence already?
Liking the sound of the Christian segments, looks like he is showing a bit more heel this week. Also the build for MITB has been the best of the year, it's so hard to predict who's going to win most of the big matches. |

Christian is almost radiating cool heel vibes like CM Punk in those segments, by the sounds of it. Totally digging it, and Christian should be the new World Champion come Money in the Bank -- finding a way to screw Orton, thus allowing this feud to continue with the babyface actually chasing the heel.

Kind of hoping Christian wins, Orton gets his rematch the next Smackdown and Christian wins again but then the MITB winner cashes in and wins.

I hope anyone but Sin Cara or Heath Slater win the SD MitB.
The fact Slater is even in this match is beyond me. Him in this match over Dibiase, Zeke, Yoshi, and Jey Uso baffles me. Cara is in this match to just be a spot monkey, though I have a feeling he may win this because how behind him HHH is. |

Yeah Slater cut a promo about it before the match, looks very much like they split up and Gabriel is now a babyface with new music. Sucks for the tag division but if it means more balance in heels / faces and Heath Slater vanishing from TV I'm all for it.

Haven't watched much of Smackdown except mainly the Christian segments, awesome stuff, about time he started acting more like a heel.

I'd like to see a Sheamus/Barrett feud but the problem is that one of them would have to eventually turn face unless they suddenly respect one another and form a tag team which I doubt will happen.

I'm be intrigued to see a Barrett vs. Sheamus feud with them both acting as heels. Just two bad-ass Europeans that hate each other.
Also, I like Heath Slater. I don't even know why. I think he's a good worker. He's not spotty, but he's athletic and crisp when he needs to be. He just doesn't throw it out there for no reason. I marked out for his powerslam off the top rope onto one of the Usos on Superstars the other week. Slater will do something cool at Money in the Bank, mark my words. Also, his voice is a heat-machine. If he got pushed, he'd get booed more than Vickie Guerrero or Michael Cole. All you need to do is give him a shtick. I'd go with having him act like a super-genius with the hick accent -- much like I assume his "Heath Wallace Miller, Esq." gimmick in FCW would have been like. |

All joking aside Barret and Sheamus teaming up/feuding (not really tag team, please!) does seem like an excellent idea. Their characters would mesh very well.

I've always thought heel vs. heel feuds could work. I remember being right into Kurt Angle vs. Triple H. Sometimes you just want to see two guys beat the hell out of each other. Barrett and Sheamus are both heels, but both in the sense that they also back themselves up with physicality and other qualities that could be portrayed as honourable, in a weird sort of way.
I would have no problem with Sheamus vs. Wade Barrett at SummerSlam, with the WWE letting the fans boo and cheer who they want. |
