Vin does 47
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Vin Diesel, who returned to box office glory recently with the family comedy "The Pacifier," is bringing Agent 47 to life.
He has signed on to star in 20th Century Fox's upcoming adaptation of "Hitman," the best-selling video game franchise from Eidos and developer IO Interactive. Diesel also will serve as executive producer. "Hitman: Codename 47" launched in December 2000 and introduced Agent 47 -- a ruthless gun for hire who has a clean-shaven head and always wears a stylish black suit -- who is hired by "the Agency" to kill targets for cash. The game and its three sequels have garnered a worldwide following. The "Hitman" franchise has sold more than 2.6 million units and generated more than $96.3 million in the U.S., according to the NPD Group. The franchise has sold more than 8 million copies worldwide, according to Eidos, which also was the company behind the "Tomb Raider" franchise. The latest title, "Hitman: Blood Money," was on display at the recent E3 show in Los Angeles; it will ship in the U.S. in the fall for PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC. "'Hitman' is a project that by the virtue of its DNA can and will reach far beyond its already substantial core audience," said Adrian Askarieh, who will serve as a producer. "The canvas on which this adventure takes place is something that movie audiences have embraced for the last 40 years." Eidos and IO Interactive plan to hold discussions with Diesel and his game company, Tigon Studios, to work on the next installment of the game franchise. If a deal is reached, Diesel will assume the virtual role of Agent 47 by providing his voice and likeness in the new game. The new game is expected to ship in conjunction with the film. That also is a model Askarieh and fellow producer Charles Gordon are aiming to follow with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Midway Games' upcoming "Spy Hunter 3." Johnson already is breathing life into main character Alec Sects in Universal's big-budget feature, for which Gordon and Askarieh are on board as producers, and is in talks to provide the voice and likeness for the next iteration of the game. Askarieh said that Stu Beattie is working on the latest draft of the "Spy Hunter," film and that John Woo no longer will direct the movie. Askarieh is one of a growing number of Hollywood producers that are seeking out video games as potential film franchises. "Video games not only provide great stories and characters and high-concept action that translates well to feature films, but they appeal to the No. 1 demographic of filmgoers," Askarieh said. "The same people who go to the movies on a regular basis and buy DVDs also play games." Reuters/Hollywood Reporter I personally wanted Jason Statham (Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels/ The Transporter) to do 47 ever since I saw him but when watching Chronicles of Riddick again last week I told my brothers that if they don't get Jason, Vin would be the next best big name thing. Hopefully I'm not proven wrong. |

You know, I would be excited about this movie because its a great game, but Vin Diesel? Come on!! I still to this day have no clue how this guy has a job. He is singularly one of the worst actors I have ever seen in my life.

Many historians believe that during the Russian invasion of Berlin, towards the end of WWII, the Russian troops raped so many women that, soon after, 60 percent of all German women, who were of child bearing age, became pregnant. However, the true facts really are, that at the time of the invasion, Vin Diesel was seen ejaculating while flying over the city. |

...and now a random fact about Vin Diesel: Before the Guillatine was invented, Kings would behead their enemies with Vin Diesel's sphincter.

Games to movies never seem to work. However this one seems to show some promise, but only if they put in some of the cloning storyline from the game. If its just a straight up Goodie Vs Baddie film it won't be so good.

I guess I'm not the only one who thought Statham would've been PERFECT for the part?

He is WAY beyond perfect, it makes me rather speechless when trying to explain how... 47 he is, see what I mean, plus unlike Vin he could actually pull off the acting. I think we should write Fox and bring their attention to this situation as apparently they are too blind to see this.

I bet that they will rip out the classical soundtrack (which I love) and replace it with rock and hip hop, 47 wont be able to enter a room without killing about 200 people with the loudest gun imaginable and infinite ammo and there will be a big massive explosion that 47 barely outruns and saves the day.
I dont want it to be a james bond style movie >_< I would rather it was a suspence/thriller type movie. Cool King is right, the guy that voices 47 looks like 47 and is an actor but he is too skinny and a little short so if he just buffed up a little and made him look a little over 6 feet tall he'd be perfect. As for vin diesal, the one game he could do that would sound and look like the character and the only one I think he'd be good enough to play is Cortez from TimeSplitters 3. I also hope to god he doesnt become the official 47 for the games and everything and that he doesnt devolope the next game. |

So Vin will do the first one, ask for 500 million to do a sequel, the producers will laugh and hire someone else for the sequel.
That's pretty much the way life goes with Vin Diesel. |

I agree with every bit of that. I was talking with my brother yesterday about it and he also asked why the guy that does 47's voice, David Bateson I believe his name is, couldn't do it and I was like hell if I know, you'd think it would be an obvious choice, go figure. You know how it is with hollywood wanting the 'big name actors' especially with game to big screen productions and usually get it wrong and ruin the whole thing. But even if the perfect person took the role you know there's a 75% chance that they'd ruin it in some other way. |

I know this topic is over a year old but I have relevent stuff to post and rather than make a new thread, I thought it smarter to use this old one.
Anyway, someone supposedly got hold of the Hitman script and read it through. Here is the site: http://www.latinoreview.com/scriptreview.php?id=29 theres next to no spoilers. He just tells you the basic story of the film and thats more or less it as far as spoilers go. |

I'm still not wild about Vin Diesal playing 47. Heres David Bateson (the voice of 47) dressed as 47.
He really would have been perfect.Shame they didn't take the risk hiring an "unknow actor". his site:http://www.davidbateson.dk/ Last edited by Drakul; 08-29-2006 at 02:05 PM. |

The only reason I can believe they picked Vin for the job is because hes bald for one...and he is a big name actor.

Depsite it being the official movie. With someone else as 47, I'll always think of it as just a Hitman rip-off in the back of my mind.
David Batesons voice really added something to the games for me so it'll be weird when Vin speaks in a deep caveman like voice instead of 47's usual voice. Which sounds slightly British to me. I'm not sure if it's supposed to sound that way or not. The fact that Bateson looks like 47 isn't a coincidence, supposedly. I've read they modeled 47's looks after Bateson himself. |

Actually, I heard that 47 was actually modeled slightly after Jason Statham.

He would work well, especially if he shaved totally bald. Plus, he has a great voice for it. |

So apparently it's finally been greenlit, with Luc Besson producing, and NOT Vin Diesel as 47, but Timothy Olyphant. |

Lol holy shit, I never knew this thread kept going, odd. Glad it did though especially since Vin is out. The addition of Besson is fantastic he is my absolute favorite! You'd think he'd try to get Statham in there but apparently not, meh. Timothy Olyphant is Seth Bullock from Deadwood(possibly the greatest HBO series EVER) good actor but for 47?..... I guess I missed the boat on that one, we'll see, we'll see.

No not Vin Diesel... Fast and Furious is good same as Pitch Black and Riddick C. but a part as Agent 47... He don't look good at it.
