Sequels in different settings
This thread is inspired by Jeritron's thread about sequels that aren't as bad as their reputation and some conversation about Gremlins 2. Good or bad, what are some sequels where they changed things up by putting the protagonist in a completely new setting. I'm really glad Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian never got made.

Seems like there's a difference between something like the James Bond series where each adventure is episodic and a sequel that just throws the characters into a new locale. Also seems like an occurrence like Back to the Future III would be exempt from this because there was a reason to go back in time.

Halloween III : Seasons Of The Witch
It didn't even feature Michael Myers and was set in a completely different place. Granted originally Michael died in Part 2 and the Halloween series was going to continue in a different direction. Most people don't know that..most people just think its a shitty sequel. But if you watch the movie without considering it a Halloween movie you will enjoy it. |

They should have completly movie for the sequel of ID4. You could turn into the modern day Gone with the Wind. I'm telling you.
Instead of Post Civil war reconstruction you have Post Alien invastion reconstruction. It could be this sprawling Epic that we talk for years to come. I'm telling you this could work. Now for the topic at hand Predator and Predator 2. Last edited by McLegend; 07-13-2010 at 06:26 PM. Reason: I forgot the word Epic. |

Really the opposite of the topic but...
Back to the Future Part II was pretty brilliant because it revisited the ACTUAL setting and events of the first movie. |
