LOL poor Cundiff after that and seeing highlights of Scott Norwood a lot in the past few days, I'm not sure there is anything more nerve racking in sports than a "make it or lose" field goal. For the collective blood pressure of all Giants and Pats fans, I kinda hope the line ends up being wrong and the game gets decided by 4+ points.

Tynes could have easily fell into the category of kickers to do that in '07. Luckily for him he got the chance to redeem himself and did.

Yeah, his miss before overtime was brutal...but at least there was still overtime to fall back on and it wasn't totally make it or break it. I remember in OT nearly everybody in the room was calling for Feagles to coffin corner the Packers inside the 5 or something and put the game in the defense's hands again rather than have Tynes try a 47 yarder. I was one of the few advocating for Tynes to get a 3rd crack at it. Glad it worked out.
While he's had some clutch kicks over the years, he's also missed a fair share - including the near meltdown in Green Bay. I like Tynes and the Super Bowl being indoors is a plus but with one drive to go I'd still probably feel a lot more comfortable getting the ball down by 4 than I would by 3 or less. Super Bowl 42 style. |

Same here, I love Del Rio as a DC. His past success under Fox is a huge plus too

I think we're safe. It seems like most recently fired HCs have to coordinate for 3 or 4 years before they get another shot. But given Denver's luck with DCs, yeah he'll get hired and we'll be on the 8th DC in 8 years

According to Rob Gronkowski's dad, Gronk will play in the Superbowl even though he has a high ankle sprain.

Gronk missing the game was never going to happen, but high ankle sprains nearly always take an eternity to heal. He'll still be a threat especially in the red zone, but he might not be able to grab all the extra yards after the catch that he normally gets.
Funny part was Belichick was probably being vague about Gronk's injury on purpose...he never tips his hand on any potential injury, hence why half of his roster is listed as Questionable every week. Can't imagine he's too thrilled about Gronk's dad spilling the beans. |

Potential coaching swap going on. Bruce Arians is the new offensive coordinator of the Colts.
Not to be outdone, the Steelers are interviewing Jim Caldwell for their vacant OC job. |

Jim Caldwell is now the Ravens QB coach, joining the long line of failed head coaches to to try their hand at coaching Flacco (Hue Jackson and Jim Zorn).

It's basically telling all of his followers to not watch the Superbowl the most profitable night in the year for the NFL.

MarkHerzlich Mark Herzlich
2 yrs ago I was told I might never walk again. Just WALKED off plane in Indy to play in The #SuperBowl. #TakeThatSh*tCancer Herzlich He was a healthy scratch for the NFC Title game so I dunno if he's gonna end up playing...but if he does I could see him contributing a huge special teams play or something. Love that guy. |

I kind of miss Jim Zorn coaching the Redskins. They sucked, but he was much more endearing than Shanahan.

Gronkowski was seen at practice with no more walking boot and he wasn't limping at all either. Fuck. He has to be superhuman...100% healing from a high ankle sprain that quickly is unheard of.

I knew Gronk would play obv, but if his ankle sprain was still bothering him it would go a long way to limiting all the yards he tends to pile on after the catch. It's shocking that he healed up that quick.
Fortunately, Coughlin is smart enough to know to gameplan for a 100% Gronk anyway. He toasted the Giants in the last game so hopefully they can figure out a different approach. |

I've actually heard a lot of analysts say that they wouldn't be surprised to see Ochocinco of all people be a surprise player in the game because "he's due" and the Giants are going to be busy gameplanning for the million other weapons the Pats have.
I really wouldn't put anything past Belichick...but it would definitely be a shocker. Fuck I want it to be Sunday. |

I had gained some confidence in the Giants finally learning to defend tight ends...until Davis just absolutely abused them. Gonna be a pick your poison kind of game. If Gronk is running well at the start I think he'll draw the initial double coverage but who knows.
It's gonna come down to the defense being able to fucking tackle immediately to limit the YAC. Sacks are going to be hard to come by even with the Giants' great pass rush. Brady knows he needs to get rid of the ball fast so they might dink and dunk it all the way down the field. Gotta tackle. |

The problem with defending tight ends is that you have to have a good one so that the defense can prepare with. Too bad you guys lost Kevin Boss.

I thought Boss was gonna be a huge loss, but Jake Ballard has been a big surprise this year and has been a nice weapon to compliment the three receivers. I give a lot of credit to tight ends coach Mike Pope...the guy has been with the Giants since the 80's and they've consistently been able to churn out quality tight ends.

The first SB meeting, the O-line completely fell apart which let the Giants defense have their way for almost the whole game. Ended being the only game that season and playoffs where the O-Line didn't play well and a hidden factor for the Giants winning. |
