1993-1995 Sonic The Hedgehog ABC SatAM Complete Series Coming To DVD with bonuses!
I'm sorry for not posting for so long. It's just that I've been distracted with many other things... :S
Anywho, the news I wish to give to you here is that, as you saw in the title of this message, the Sonic The Hedgehog animated series that was on ABC from Sept. 18, 1993 to June 3, 1995, and was cancelled on a cliffhanger episode, is finally getting Complete Series treatment, with all 26 eps from both 13 ep seasons getting released in a DVD Boxset on March 27, 2007. The set will retail at stores for $29.98 USD, and will be released by Shout! Factory, who have also been responsible for the DVD Boxsets of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show, The Legend Of Zelda, and Captain N: The Game Master, which all aired on NBC in the late 80s-early 90s. For those that need refresher info, the Sonic the Hedgehog ABC series, also knows to it's fans as the 'SatAM'(acronym for 'Saturday Morning', it's broadcast time in the week), had a plot where a group of Freedom Fighters, led by Sonic and his gal-pal, Princess Sally, were trying to regain their home from the techno-tyrant known as Dr. Robotnik, who gained his authority through a coup. The Boxset will contain the following bonus features, in addition to the episodes themselves. They are: 1. Way Past Cool! A Conversation with Sonic Writer Ben Hurst 2. The Fastest Thing Alive: A Conversation with Jaleel White 3. Printable Heads or Tails Pilot Script 4. Storyboard-to-Screen: The Doomsday Project - The complete episode shown with the animated storyboards 5. Original Storyboards for an Unproduced Opening Title Sequence 6. Original DiC Concept Art Galleries 7. Easter Eggs Galore! 8. Packaging Designed COMPLETELY by The Fans!(except the front cover, which was done by professional freelance artist and former Archie Sonic Comic writer Ken Penders.) 9. Deleted/Extended Sequences for Drood Henge and The Doomsday Project. These sequences were never produced. Shout! found and animated the storyboards and bookended them with the scenes that would have come directly before and after to give you an idea of where they would have gone within the story. And now, here is what the front cover of the Boxset will look like. Now, as with most things, Amazon.com tends to sell everything under the sun, so here is the Amazon.com pre-order link for this Boxset. http://www.amazon.com/Sonic-Hedgehog...?ie=UTF8&s=dvd I hope that covers all the bases on this. Oh, and you can of course get it in any brick-and-mortar store to get this Boxset. This has been a long time in coming. |

I'll get it definitely, used to watch it a lot when I was a kid and I bought the series on bootleg DVD but the quality was god awful.

the game. shameless merchandising but it evokes memories of me being 8 and waking up stupidly early in the mornings to sit and watch cartoons while eating frosties out of the box.

I always thought it was kinda funny that the whole purpose of the cartoon was to sell the videogame, but the show had absolutely nothing to do with the games aside from the title character.

The cartoon was so terrible.
I mean, I watched it as a kid, and liked it. I tried watching it recently and it does not hold up at all. I know it's a kids show, but I can usually look past it for nostalgia purposes, but christ, this show is just TERRIBLE. |
