What is the article that says Viacom wants WWE? Isn't WWE locked in with NBC?

Then you're not looking at things properly.
Way back in January: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1...wwes-tv-rights From March: http://www.cagesideseats.com/tna-imp...-new-promotion This stuff has been going on all year, at least, and nobody's been talking about it even though Vince lost all that money and his stock fucking plummeted. That's the most I'm doing, Poit, I fucking hate it here these days. |

Plus, couldn't Viacom have bid for WWE and run both shows until the TNA deal expires? Seems like they'd end up paying over the odds to buy WWE out of their deal with NBC now.

It depends on TNAs contract with them but it is likely. ECW and WWE were on TNN for about 2 weeks

I was really disappointed that I had to miss this week's episode, since the current situation involving TNA's cancellation has some pretty long-reaching ramifications in terms of televised wrestling in America. So I wanted to provide a supplemental piece of my own, recording my own thoughts about the matter, given how long I've been watching the show, through its highs and lows, all the joy and anger it's caused me over the years.
Then I realized I don't know how to use Audacity or any other voice-recording software. So.....it's gonna be a day late. Look for my piece tomorrow, if you're so inclined. In the meantime, I've provided some TPWW EXCLUSIVE Nowhere Man artwork that sums up my feelings on the matter pretty succinctly: |

Afterlife, I think I have to agree with Savior here.
There does appear to be evidence that Viacom tried to bid for the rights to WWE programming before WWE renewed their current TV deal. However, the idea that Viacom is still trying now seems to be just speculation, and you presented it as fact on the podcast. |

Considering Spike purchased Bellator, it's more likely that that'd make an offer to buy TNA. If a negotiation has taken this long, the number both sides want is probably very far off

Question Of The Week:
After what we've been served up with the previous couple of weeks... What would you rather see close an episode of Raw? Funny and serious answers, please. I'm not arsed to seeing Steph close out the last two RAWs. It is different and very bold, but it had me wishing that DB would have came out and did something. That might be the end game of it all. That being said: I would have closed RAW out with Dean Ambrose putting laxative in Seth Rollins and Orton's drinks and turning the bathroom lights off while they pooped, leaving used toilet paper in the stalls for them to use. Pan in on Dean's face and end it |

Going into summerslam, I want to see Cena interrupt The Authority as they're cutting their normal "Stephanie is going to beat that Bella for $9.99!" Cena starts his promo, and reminds everyone that there's still a bigger match on the card. Paul Heyman comes out with Lesnar, they get into the ring, and they talk for a bit. Dean Ambrose comes out, gets in the ring, and doesn't say anything. He just takes a cheap shot at Rollins which turns into a huge brawl. Steph leaves the ring, and gets attacked by The Bellas on the outside. The heels are getting the upper hand, when Roman Reigns comes out to clear house. The faces start to get the upper hand, but in WCW fashion, "WE'RE OUT OF TIME!" Just make sure we see Lesnar F5 someone who isn't Cena, Cena AA's someone who isn't Lesnar, Orton RKO's Roman, Rollins and Ambrose are trading blows with each other like crazy, end it with a huge brawl.
Four matches are promoted in one segment. Stephanie gets to stroke her ego by making her match a focal point in the last segment, Lesnar and Cena gets the attention the world title match deserves, Dean Ambrose shows up to be a the match that ignites the powder keg, and as Roman makes the save as we're reminded of his match with Orton. We're reminded that we can see all of this action for $9.99. Last edited by FourFifty; 08-06-2014 at 08:34 PM. |

Fast forward to the main event and Rollins is surrounded in the ring by lumberjacks and WWE security. Ambrose tries several times to get into the ring while Rollins taunts him going as far as to put his signature on the contract. Ambrose runs to the back and reappears with Sin Cara's trampoline and performs the most majestic jump ever done over everyone, grabs the contract and signs it, then proceeds to attack Rollins. Lumberjacks just watch since they were only told to stay outside while security can't get into the ring because of them. Raw ends with a brawl inside the ring and a massive one outside because a lumberjack accidentally hit another one. |

Not sure. Maybe have some sort of Brock Lesnar MMA exhibition. Have Lesnar about to beat the shit out of some MMA guy but Cena comes down to save him. Then the MMA guy turns on Cena and they beat the shit out of him. |

There's nothing wrong with the way Raw has ended the last two weeks. It's a major storyline that they've actually put some effort into featuring the in-ring return of a McMahon and it's making what will end up being a mid-card SummerSlam match come off as a huge deal. And the last few weeks have been fucking great storytelling within the feud. I would much rather see that end Raw then the stereotypical lazy formula of a meaningless match ending in a DQ and then an "OMG WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT WEEK!?" angry staredown that fails miserably at building any drama.

If the 3NA (you, Jabs, AL) use that argument against people who don't watch TNA because they expect it to be shit, it's not fair to Stephanie (top babyface currently) and Brie because you expect the match to be bad.

Alright. Well we'll just have to see how Brie Bella vs Stephanie McMahon is going to be. Should I be expecting a barn burner?
And really that isn't the TNA gripe. The gripe is that people read the results and judge what happened without seeing it. It isn't so much they they assume a match that hasn't happened yet is going to be terrible. I mean, I'll give it a chance but they are putting a non-wrestler and a bad to slightly below average wrestler into a main event feud. Not only that, but the rest of the show has been lacking for weeks aside from a few cool moments. Just seems like a depressing time to be a WWE fan atm. Not saying it won't pick up, but currently what they're trying to sell us seems silly. |

And I don't know how I got looped in to the TNA fanboy stereotype. I don't watch it all that much and when I do I am often extremely critical of it. Just the past couple weeks they have been better than WWE in every respect. The wrestling has been better, the storylines have been better, and the atmosphere of the NYC tapings has been a very good edition. A spade is a spade, that's all.
Overall though, WWE is typically miles ahead of Impact. Just not lately. |

It's not like they're gonna get 20 minutes to try to put on a mat classic. It'll probably be a semi-clusterfuck of sorts or just a flat out brawl ala Stephanie vs Trish, hopefully something major will happen in the end and that will be that. Most people aren't sitting there pulling their hair out dreading the potential workrate that will be exhibited in every upcoming match. That's why crowds have been hot for it. It's just been a good, interesting story and people have been enjoying it for that. And that's why it's been closing out Raw.
