NFL Playoffs Prediction Thread..
Saturday Jan 5, 2008:
NFC Wild Card: Washington at Seattle, 4:30 p.m. ET (NBC) AFC Wild Card: Jacksonville at Pittsburgh, 8 p.m. ET (NBC) Sunday Jan 6, 2008: NFC Wild Card: N.Y. Giants at Tampa Bay, 1 p.m. ET (FOX) AFC Wild Card: Tennessee at San Diego, 4:30 p.m. ET (CBS) NFC Divisional Playoff I believe the winner of the Giants/Bucs will go on to play in Dallas, with the winner of the Seahawks/Skins would go on to play in Greenbay.. AFC Divisional Playoffs Same kinda thing, I believe the winner of Jags/Steelers would go on to play in Foxoboro, with the winner of the Titans/Chargers would go on to play in Indy.. So once I get this confirmed, lets make predictions/discuss the playoffs.. Go Pack.. |

Krispy, it's the lowest team left that goes to NE and Dallas, not the "game winner".
it all depends on which 2 teams win. |

Seahawks are the 3 seed..so if they win they will automatically go to Greenbay. Same with the Skins if they win they go to Dallas no matter what. So the Giants/Bucs winner will depend on who wins between Skins/Hawks.

The great Vince Young singlehandedly defeats the Chargers, Patriots and Colts, then the Cowboys in the SuperBowl, effectively ending the Madden curse.

Can't believe everyone is picking Washington over Seattle. Qwest Field has become the new Lambeau for visiting teams.

Seattle over Washington New York over Tampa Bay Jacksonville over Pittsburgh San Diego over Tennessee Division New York over Dallas Green Bay over Seattle Indianapolis over San Diego New England over Jacksonville Conference Green Bay over New York New England over Indianapolis Super Bowl New England over Green Bay. I think Dallas will choke at the tail end of the season again, and I'm expecting the Giants to spring up a surprise or two as they play tough football and know how to grind out a victory on the road. |

I hate to say it but it looks that way. Wade Phillips is too laid back to fire up his team..I hope they get the Buccs in the next round or even Washington..but if it's the Giants I think they can pull an upset.

All of the karma of Dallas playoff upsets went to Golden State in the NBA playoffs last year. The Cowboys are fine.

If the fucking Giants would come out and play with the same fire they brought against the Patriots they are just as good as any of the other NFC teams.

They are 7-1 at home. The only one of those 7 wins that was against a team with more than 7 wins was against Tampa on opening day. The one loss was a convincing win by the Saints. The new Lambeau? Come on... |

Since Qwest Field opened, other than the Patriots, they have the best home record of any NFL team. Do some research, homo.

but you always have to factor the winning % of teams played.
I'm going with Washington because the finished the season strong and have a dead teammate as motivation to playfor, plus isn't alexander still banged up? As for the Giants, what happened w/ the injuries from the Pats game? any of those guys going to miss the game? I think only like 1 team has won the week after losing to the Patriots this season, so it will be interesting if the Giants can pull it off. |

And let me stress this point clearly... a team with a homefield advantage that is "The new Lambeau for visiting teams" DOES NOT lose at home to a team like New Orleans in a game where they were down by 28-10 at the half and end up scoring a late TD to lose by only 11.
And if you really want to go back, how about those last two home games of last season going into the playoffs... a loss to San Diego and a two score loss to San Francisco. Just so Lambeau-esque... There's my research, homo. Thanks for the tip. Last edited by #1-norm-fan; 01-04-2008 at 02:28 AM. |

Ah so the Packers can lose at home 27-7 to the Falcons in the first round of the playoffs, lose at home to an 8-8 Vikings team 31-17 in the first round of the playoffs, follow that up the next season by going 3-5 at Lambeau, then go 3-5 at home again the very next season, and Lambeau remains the toughest place to visit. But the Seahawks lose at home to the Saints and they don't have a home field advantage. Solid logic.

The argument I'm conveying has nothing to do with the Seahawks as a team. My argument is that Qwest Field provides a better home field advantage for the Seahawks than the advantage for any other team at their own home stadium. This is due to the loudness of the crowd (more false starts for visiting teams at Qwest than at any other stadium) and the terrible weather. The Patriots might have a better record but that's because they are the best team in the NFL and have been for a while. They could play all their games on the road and they'd still be Super Bowl contenders annually. Qwest Field provides the best home field advantage in the NFL right now just like Lambeau used to do in the past. I didn't say it was better than Lambeau was. I simply said Qwest has taken Lambeau's place as the toughest stadium to play at.

The famous "Lambeau mystique" ended in about 2001. If the "Lambeau advantage" that you're talking about is the "Lambeau advantage" post 2001, then why the hell would you brag about it. It's no better than any other homefield advantage in the league. |

I could make a solid case that Arizona has a better homefield advantage than Seattle. They are a worse team than Seattle but their play improves when they are at home more than Seattle's does. Nothing Seattle has done at Qwest over the past few years says that they can or should be favored against a better team so if people believe Washington is the better team at the moment, then they will pick them to win regardless of where the game is held. |
