It would have been better for EliteXC and Kimbo if they kept the fight going because it looked like Kimbo was going to knock him out and fans love that shit.

-5-10 more seconds and Thompson was out, but for a guy getting a push like Kimbo, that won't cut it. Kimbo needed a definite stoppage. Mazzagotti would have stopped the fight in the 2nd round.
-I don't care if she weighed in 4.5 lbs overweight, I'm in love with Gina Carano. hottest gogoplatta attempt ever. |

Brett Rogers called out Kimbo at the press conference, saying he saw Kimbo tap out in the 1st to the guillotine, said Kimbo's fight was garbage.

Knocked out his feet my arse. When people get hit, their eyes move. It wasn't like he took a punch and then did his standing impression of the Undertaker. If he did, I'd have no problems.

Gina is good looking and a great fighter and even though she won , the way she interviewed seemed like her heart isn't 100% in mma. But hopefully she keeps fighting.
I thought Kimbo had tapped too I think in the 2nd round it was ..but the announcers said he was giving a signal that he was 'ok' so I dunno. Premature stoppage though. In the Smith/Lawler fight I think when they were throwing haymakers , Johnson called one of the punches a can opener. Isnt that a submission hold?? Never heard a punch called that. |

No contest in that fight with a finger poke. In the UFC, Vitor Belfort beat Randy Couture with one. How the fuck are these athletic commissions not on the same page?

I thought kimbo tapped too at first but it was right in front of the ref and he didnt do anything about it so i figured it was him giving a thumbs up or saying hes OK.

Its not the commission's call I dont think... I think its just the ref's call and I think theyre protecting Lawler too.

It's not the refs call. He can't pull a no contest because he feels like it. It's the commission. Just like the commissions in California and Las Vegas have different rules.

Call me crazy but it looked like Thompson was paid off to not finish Kimbo. Honestly, for a guy with 24ish fights he couldn't keep Kimbo on his back, are you kidding. Kimbo just rolled and the guy was off. When Thompson had Kimbo's head exposed he was throwing the softest punches and elbows I had ever seen. Little girls punch harder. The standing guiloteen was week, he did not stand up straight and arch his back like JJ 101 states.
I dunno, Thompson looked bad, real bad, too bad for a guy with experience. |

I'd call you crazy. No way is Thompson taking a dive on one of the biggest MMA shows ever (certainly in terms of TV importance). He could have made himself a star in one night.

Kimbo vs Thompson was a fix
I'm sorry, those punches and elbows were weaker then RVD's in pro wrestling. That was embarressing how much he was purposley holding back. THen that stoppage. WOW. THe worst stoppage i've ever seen for sure. And Kimbo laying on the ground exhausted and relieved. So embarressing. CBS and Elite XC just need to be shot in the face. The Lawler fight stoppage was horrible too. REminded me of that Severn vs Shamrock fight where they wouldnt fight because of the state rules. But these guys were fighting and someone gets poked in the eye. Did you guys here the other corner saying " He's ok we want to continue " and they stopped it anyways. I wanted to puke right then and there. |

Again no way was it a fix. Fixing the fight and getting caught would kill MMA.

Watch the fight, Thompson had a weak ground and pound.

Anyone think that the punches were weak because the guy was in horrible shape and had been knocked loopy? .... You guys are right. Thompson has WAY too much experience to come in out of shape.

One of the judges scored the 2nd round in favor of Slice ...wow
fixed. It was a fix. That wasnt no fucking weak ground and pound. He was pulling punches hardcore. I've watched twice now. Its rediculous. |

Guys, Elite XC sucks..
I am ashamed as an MMA fan that that card was what was shown to alot of non MMA fans.. Now if they had shown the WEC card from last night, .. Faber/Jens was awesome and that Torres/Jap guy fight was one of the best fights ever.. |

Also, the local CBS coverage fucked up and didn't show the Kimbo fight here.. We went outside to burn one and when we came back in, the whole show had restarted and ran for about 30 minutes then went off the air.. They never showed the main event, I just watched it online..
p.s. did anyone watch that Ultimate Iceman thing?? |

Is the UFC Affliction ban officially over? Watching the countdown show for the London show and they're showing an awful lot of affliction logos and shirts during Vera's segment.

Just thinking about EliteXC I get so mad about Mauro Ranallo. He wouldn't let Gus Johnson got excited. He would keeep talking over him. Ranallo would keep telling all this useless information.
He reminded me of Mike Tenay. |
