So let's say Rousey does eventually sign with WWE
It feels likely to me, sometime down the line. She's a fan. She'd prob like to do it. And I kinda think that transitioning to the Women's championship (which looks great) is a step toward enticing more female talent with some type of combat sport experience.
How would that begin? I think back to Lesnar's first match back against Cena. He did stuff in that match that he doesn't do anymore. Takedowns, unblocked punches aimed to rip Cena's face open, several instances of refs stepping in. He kicked Cena's ass. Didn't matter that he eventually lost, the first part of the match was uncomfortable to watch. They legitimately put doubt in my head that "holy shit, Brock might be taking this thing into his own hands." They've been riding that vibe ever since, which is why people still pay to see him. Would they go that far with Rousey? Should they? Would it feel too much like a rehash of Brock's return, or would establishing her character like that also lead to more money in the long run? Thoughts? |

Paul Heyman should be her advocate. They can find the main challenger, could be Charlotte, Sasha, Becky, Bailey... omg AUSKA. Rousey actually has a lot of good competition if she does come to rasslin. It could be fuckin huge. Probably the first womens main event on PPV. Maybe even Wrestlemania if it was built correctly.

Have her break Eva Marie's arm on her first night. Only women I would really like to see her wrestle would be Charlotte and Asuka. Don't feel like anyone else matches up with her. I do think she'll be in the WWE eventually though.

Tyson got bumped when Buster Douglas KOed him. We'll see if Rousey can bounce back and win the title again. Her appeal was about being undefeated champion though. Luster might have wore off a little.

Perhaps, be she can always go on the quest to prove herself in WWE regardless of her MMA record.

She could lose her next fight and come to WWE and she would still be the most credible women on the roster. Don't think her mystique is gone but it's not as large as it was when she was undefeated. Hell the publicity she would get from announcing the jump from UFC to WWE would be huge and her debut will probably be the most watched segment on WWE tv in a while.

Vince got BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROCK to come back. I can totally see him going after Rousey if she's available. And, if the price is right.

If she does she will be in the Woman's division for like 3 months before taking on men.
Hope she only does 1 Mania match and that's it. |

To all the people saying "she's lost her mystique" and other nonsense like that you are idiots. UFC is about 1000x bigger than WWE at this point. People like to throw around the "big fish small pond" crap all the time, and how WWE is the big leagues. Well guess what? Compared to UFC the WWE is TNA in terms of overall popularity. Even a loser in UFC is worth about 10x what a winner in WWE is worth, and this is coming from someone who absolutely despises UFC and MMA as a whole. Fact is she's draw money, period.

That said I'd love to see Rousey in WWE. Might be enough to actually spark my interest in professional wrestling again. She's a legit badass, and she's a pretty awesome person to boot. She'd probably have some issues with transitioning, and she'd have to work hard on improving in stuff like promos and whatnot, but I think she could make it work enough to be a "special attraction" type deal. Don't see her being a full-time roster member though, but I could be proven wrong.

She could be the female Lesnar with Heyman as the mouth piece. It'd be an easy pairing. A recognizable star with an excellent hype man.

Honestly, she would do nothing for the product. Would she be like a female Brock, show up a few times a year and beat up the Internet darlings like Bayley, Sasha and Asuka? If so it's not worth having her. Her value is in a big time, one off WM match wherein she goes over a bitchy heel in a non-title match, or jobs to a face that they are really high on and they can do the "respect handshake" after the match. Anything else with Rousey will not work, and will be a women's division killer in all likelihood.

Also "a women's division killer?" It would only help the women's division. Anyone who even put up a good fight against Rousey would essentially be proving themselves a god in terms of credibility, and the person who finally beat her would be catapulted to the top of the card. |

Wishbone, do you understand how the business of pro-wrestling works? I only ask since you brought up the notion of money, because since the PPV business is no longer a major part of WWE's business model (due to the Network), Rousey wouldn't necessarily draw money through that source.
Secondly, UFC fans are not wrestling fans. They enjoy a real combat sport, not a choreographed and pre-determined entertainment show. There is very little chance that many of those fans would want to see a legit badass woman pull punches and sell for Sasha Banks after they have already seen the real thing from her in the octagon. The reason Lesnar may have brought in anyone is due to his wrestling career 13 years ago. He took wrestling fans to UFC, and, due to his cross over appeal, he brought some back. Rousey has no such history that intimates anything equal to Brock. Thirdly, creatively, what do you do with Rousey? Are you going to job her? Is she going to win all the time? Is she going to appear on houseshows? Basically, even wrestling fans would be bored because it has already been done with Brock, and she would either alienate wresting fans by being Brock with a vagina, and thus boring and predictable, or alienate possible UFC crossover appeal, because no woman on the roster could believably go toe to toe with her. There is no BIG money in Rousey as a regular wrestler, only in a Mr. T celeb type match, I contend with confidence. |

I got to disagree, she's one of the most famous athletes in the world and to say there is no big money in her is funny. She would draw women to e product and take the Womens division to another level.

There's money in her but definitely not as much after Holm made her a wimpy version of herself.

Like, she literally said she contemplated suicide after losing an MMA match. Star and money power do go down as she needs help.

For the sake of clarification, Rousey would bring some eyes to the product, however, to say she could be a Lesnar-type draw, or bring in a lot of money over a long period of time, I absolutely disagree. I think most people would watch one or two of her matches and then the novelty will wear off. Even Brock hasn't been pulling in dynamite ratings on television lately.

Her UFC mystique may be shot. Doesn't reflect her WWE mystique though. She could still be booked like a world-beater and no one would think twice about the fact that she lost a UFC fight. She could most definitely be a draw. And every other diva who even has a competitive match with her would see their credibility skyrocket instantly. You could use her to help bring the entire division to another level.

Total truth. I just dont see the point. Like a street fight with her beating Nattie (knowing everyone will absolutely hate)? You cant put her in a match with any of the Diva’s Revolution, as they will likely make her look incompetent. She isn’t Brock. Brock wrestled for many years in WWE; learning the trade before he came back.

Basically make her the female Brock. Have her destroy all the "Divas" first in very short order, making her way "up the ladder" to the women's championship, essentially keeping her off TV as much as possible and letting her train down in NXT....Draw it out over the year, wrestling a few matches on Raw, maybe a couple on an NXT Takeover or Network special, and the big "PPV's"....
Essentially Ronda Lesnar..... |

Interesting notes from a lot of people.
Most of the people against the idea of signing her at all also don't seem to leave room for the environment to evolve (or maybe are just predicting that it won't?). Correct me if I'm wrong, though. I also don't think a green Rousey in today's women's division would be entertaining for very long. But both she and WWE could learn from each other. It's worked before (example: Kurt Angle). |

I'd have her first opponent be Emma. She's a good character to basically say "This is the WWE and you're nothing here." Ronda beats Emma in what would no doubt be a good showing. Second match is against Becky Lynch -- who seems like the most "MMA" of the current girls. Rousey wins that match and becomes #1 Contender and Charlotte gives her shit about how she's only won two matches in the WWE. Rousey beats Charlotte and you see where it goes. Title matches against Paige, Natalya and maybe a rematch with Lynch while Charlotte regenerates. Get the belt off Rousey when Stephanie screws her in favor of Sasha Banks, and Stephanie and Rousey have that match you know Steph wants, and Sasha can feud with Bayley, Charlotte, Becky, etc.
