As Hughs said the past season, it not about teaching moves and whatnot.. Most of the guys who make it to TUF are trained already.. The "coaches" are more about setting training regimans and gameplanning for fights.. Also cornering.. I don't see how Forrest isn't qualified.. Supposedly he is one of the biggest gym rats in the UFC, has big fight experience and knowledge of the workings of UFC..
Why would you think he's not qualified?? |

I've never watched much MMA shit before just because I haven't been interested. Decided to check this out since Guida's from my hometown and a few of my buddies that wrestled with him were going to the bar to watch it. I have to say, there were some really entertaining fights going on. I thought Clay was going to take the fight, but he just got fucking rocked with that knee. It felt like a little bit of Johnsburg died that night because everyone was freaking out at the possibility of such a huge win, and then Clay got choked out. Damn. I might have to watch more in the future.

Probably not, but as I said, he is not training them.. These are already trained fighters who he will help add to their training to be more efficent and gameplan and corner..
That's it.. |

So the thousands of people out there who own and run MMA gyms, who haven't held a championship, aren't qualifies to run their gyms?? |

What?
So all the guys who coached those fighters must be shit because they don't have world titles? Pure bollocks. Top fighters don't automatically make top coaches. In boxing, Freddie Roach, Billy Graham, Manny Steward and Enzo Calzaghe did nothing in the ring and yet they must have trained like 50 world champions between them. |

Oh and Liddell wasn't a champion when he was the coach on the first TUF series so that "arguement" goes out the window.

Jesus Kris... YES! As a coach, you have to be able to work with all different kinds of people. Now I am pretty sure youve played sports before. Have you ever had a bad coach? A lot of the time the most successful and talented guys in any sport turn out to be really shitty coaches. Not all the time, but enough to be a trend. No guys like Randy, Hughes, and Serra are a little different because of their experience in the sport, but Forrest has only been around the ufc for about 3-4 years. Before that he was a cop that was doing this on the side. Hes probably never coached before which could be a little tough because you have to be able to work with fighters and connect with your guys. You have to be able to understand different personality types and try your best to be patient with everyone. No Forrest seems like a cool guy but who knows how hes gonna be as a coach. Just cuz hes funny doesnt mean hes not gonna screw up with coaching the fighters.
Also, he doesnt have that much big match experience. His three biggest matches were the TUF finals, vs Tito, and vs Shogun. No real main events, and no title fights. Maybe he'll be an awsome coach, but its hard to say hes more than qualified and your nuts if thinking him winning makes him a good coach. |

He has more than the guys he'll be coaching certainly..
And as I already said, it's not like they're getting hobos off the streets.. These are previously trained fighters.. All the "coach" has to do if mold their training and corner them, which I think Forrest is more than capable of doing.. |

I used to coach kids football and I'm now qualified with badges by the FA to coach kids but I can tell you from my own experience that I could have done as well without the qualification. Rampage has 2 of out the 3 too and he is known for being a lazy motherfucker when it comes to training. Forrest is known for working his balls to the ground in the gym. Now if you took away the names, you'd want to work with the hard worker every day. Doesn't mean he will be a good coach but it doesn't mean he won't either. |

Reavant pretty much said what I was slowly getting at.
As for Rampage as a good coach, who knows, but if he brings his trainer in, look out. |

I think they'll play up the coaches humour in the season, not really their coaching abilities.

Generally speaking, surely if you’ve been trained by the best, you’d know how to train others fairly well right, and most of us would agree that Randy is pretty fecking good.
All I care about is that I get to see Rampage/Griffin, I said on this thread a while back that’s a dream match for me |

So apparently Couture isn't actually retired from the sport, and is just waiting on his UFC contract to expire so he can go fight this Emelianenko guy. Surely Dana White would rather that happen in the UFC and make some money off it?
And I don't know how good he (Fedor) is as i've never seen him fight (i'm a UFC newb) but I really want to see this if it happens. |

You're probably right but the guy needs to be in the UFC for the general (North American) population to care, or to even fight the best guys. Since the UFC is top dog in MMA, he needs to be there. From the sounds of it the guy wants to pick his own opponents so it seems he may be ducking guys by not signing with UFC. |

Yea I agree. Fedor might be the best but quite frankly most people here won't go out of their way to watch another promotion. They will watch the UFC..some WEC maybe or bodog ,but the big leagues is the UFC. And if he's not in there then it'll be unfortunate that majority of fans here won't even know how he looks like if he never signs.
