Kinda crazy - I just watched that match in ECW with Jinsei Shinzaki against RVD and Sabu for the first time two nights ago.
Not going to pretend I know a whole lot about him beyond the botched Asai Moonsault that paralysed him. At least he was able to walk again before he passed away. From what I read he was a fiercely loyal guy to FMW, perhaps to the detriment of his career but it would seem that he was a pioneer for that high flying style. What I will say from having watched the match in ECW, he was doing things well before his time and some stuff I haven't seen since so obviously he was a pretty great talent. RIP Hayabusa |

Son of a bitch.
Hayabusa's matches are what got me into the Japanese scene. Probably one of my all time favorites. Really sucks, as he was making strides fighting his condition. |

In the 90's before youtube the only way to get your hands on a Japanese wrestling tape was to buy it from RFVideo or to be a tape trader. I saw Hayabusa first in ECW in the tag match with Hakushi, RVD, and Sabu. I always dreamed of watching Hayabusa vs Sabu and then when I finally got my hands on a tape of them, it was a total botch fest. What would you expect?
Either way, as a kid I thought Hayabusa was fearless and awesome. I remember when he broke his neck as FMW was winding down. Gone were the death matches and Hayabusa's style became the idea for the promotion, though nobody ever came close. There was something ultra charismatic about him. His awesome mask, his hair, and his fluffly Sabu style pants... really awesome look. Actually come to think of it my first exposure to Hayabusa was in WCW vs NWO World Tour for n64, he was put in the game as Hannibal.... I kicked everyone's ass with his finisher. It was like a mix between a driver and the jackhammer. RIP Hayabusa you were really cool |

I wonder if Hayabusa was allergic to peanuts and that's why he died?
