According to Ubisoft Montpelier, Rayman Legends for the Wii U is getting an extra goodie to help make up for the delay announcement. Online Challenge mode will now become a free downloadable standalone mode to help pass the time because of the delay.

While EA in general might be loosing interest in the Wii U, at least their sub-studios are still interested in making games for it. Criterion Games said the reason Need for Speed: Most Wanted will be arriving on the Wii U is because of the Gamepad giving them some fresh ideas to do for that port.
Also ends up being the first Criterion to appear on a Nintendo console since Burnout 2 in 2002. http://www.destructoid.com/most-want...o-245792.phtml Nintendo states starting with F-Zero, every game for the 30 cents promotion will run in 60Hz for all regions after listening to complaints from Europe when they got the worse version of Balloon Fight (50Hz). http://www.destructoid.com/f-zero-on...z-246084.phtml Ubisoft currently having a sale on several digital Wii U games on the eShop and lasts until February 26. Watch, they'll play F-Zero and the community page will be full of "Why is it 60Hz? The music is too fast!! I want the music I remember from the PAL SNES version!" If it had been a remake of Balloon Fight then, yeah, crank it up to 60Hz but, as it's supposed to be an emulation of the PAL version, I think it should play like the PAL version did. |

No, fuck the PAL versions. There's a huge reason I imported consoles and it's because we were shafted. I knew that at 13, I know that now.
So happy that common sense prevailed on this one. |

It'll just lead to more crying for more stuff now they know it works.
First it was 60Hz, then it'll be demanding leaderboards and so on. Then you'll get crying for non-VC games. Crying that Waluigi isn't in Smash or because they reveal Zelda U will be cel shaded etc. |

Nope, it was a VC game. Just give us the best version possible and move on.

I mean look at that horror show. For a game like F-Zero, it's required to be in 60Hz. If it was some turn-based RPG, whatever, just get rid of the borders if they can. But racing, it's gots to be all about that speed. |

I don't think he's completely serious, but we didn't get Animal Crossing N64 and I don't really think you can compare Doshin the Giant and Earthbound, as fun as Doshin could be.

Doshin and his wobbly arms. He should probably be in SSB in some way. Character, assist or an entire level.

Very likely Ubisoft will confirm Splinter Cell: Blacklist will be on the Wii U after the latest leaks and teases involves a couple of developers listing the Wii U as platforms they developed the game for.
http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...opers-resumes/ EA confirms Need for Speed Most Wanted will be released on the Wii U on March 19 (US) and March 21 (Europe). The game contains the Ultimate Speed Pack and an exclusive new co-op mode. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...o-wii-u-march/ Capcom states Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will be patched after it is released to include both the ability to use the Off-Tv feature and cross-region play. However the patch won't arrive until a few weeks after the game is launched. http://www.screwattack.com/news/wii-...on-online-play MecurySteam confirms there is no Wii U version of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 due to budget reasons and lack of staff. Konami refused to provide both in order for a Wii U version to be made. The studio did state the version could still be made in the future although not any time soon. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...etary-reasons/ According to pricing for replacement Gamepad tablet controllers, the current price from Nintendo to replace a Gamepad tablet is around $140. http://www.destructoid.com/nintendo-...0-247205.phtml |

According to Crytek, Crysis 3 was meant to have a Wii U version and was finished around the same time as the other platforms but EA demanded the project to be cancelled.
The reason appears to be related to rumors of EA being pissed off at Nintendo rejecting having Origin be the provider for the new Nintendo Network and EA having a lot of control over it. Also would support rumors of EA pulling support for Wii U projects as punishment against Nintendo. http://www.screwattack.com/news/crys...-release-wii-u http://wiiudaily.com/2013/03/finishe...ning-on-wii-u/ |

Miyamoto revealed some stuff Nintendo is working on in a recent interview with Polygon:
* The Wii U NFC project is currently one of their top priority projects with Nintendo hoping to have something ready in the near future. * Nintendo themselves are currently developing games to support multiple Game Pads at once and will show case them at a later date (maybe E3). * Considering the success of the Nintendo Direct series, Nintendo now will use ND to make big announcements while E3 will still be their focus for having hands-on stuff for the public. http://www.gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=197401 Nintendo revealed the list of playable Wii U demos that will be available at SXSW Gaming Expo later this week. 1st major firmware update for the Wii U was released recently and is about 30MB for size. It provides some stability and loading time improvements but the real differences won't arrive until the April update. http://www.destructoid.com/nintendo-...e-247799.phtml |

Ubisoft wants Nintendo to have a price cut done soon for the Wii U mainly to improve software sales. Their reasoning is customers are less likely to just pocket the savings and instead buy more games (preferably Ubisoft games) at the same time they buy the console.
http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...oftware-sales/ According to Miyamoto, Nintendo is currently reworking the Wii U interface with the goal of having it be released this summer. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...says-miyamoto/ |

The interface is fine as it is. Are they going to do what MS did with the 360 Dashboard and turn, what was a fine interface, into a clunky mess?

Probably not since the thinking behind the big XBLA redesigns was Microsoft adding too much stuff or catering to just a segment of the Xbox 360 crowd.
All the reports about the Wii U interface hint more at a lot of tweaks and fixes but nothing really drastic unless some serious problems pop up after the April update. Think the interface wasn't tested well since its not using the 1GB of RAM effectively. |

For those interested, it was revealed the digital eShop version of Lego City Undercover is about 22 GB in size and requires an external harddrive.
http://www.gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=198154 EA revealed a new trailer showing off "co-op driving" mode for the Wii U version of Need For Speed Most Wanted. The mode lets one person race using the wiimote while the other player can manipulate the game's world using the tablet during the race. Various UK retailers are currently having a special £50-£60 price cut for the system with Amazon and ShopTo having the basic model on sale while Asda has the deluxe model on sale. http://www.destructoid.com/wii-u-get...k-248709.phtml Nintendo reveals Pokemon Rumble U currently will be favoring the Spyro Skylanders approach of including physical toys as a way to get and unlock characters. http://www.destructoid.com/pokemon-r...s-248763.phtml |

The Wii U version of Aliens Colonial Marines is close to being cancelled based on some teases from the developer of the port (Demiurge). According to rumors and from play testers the Wii U version was in a bigger mess than the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions.
To put into perspective how big of a mess the game became, a recent patch for the PC version ended up being roughly 4 GB in size. http://www.gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=198516 Square Enix announces Deus Ex Human Revolution will be arriving on the Wii U in the form of a "Director's Cut" that includes all the DLC built into the story and fixes not done on the Xbox 360 and PS3. The only downside is the game will be priced at $50 compared to the current $15-$20 on other consoles. http://www.gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=198500 http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...cut-for-wii-u/ |

Nintendo recently released a video showing off the improvements the April firmware update will provide in regards to loading times. Overall they managed to reduce loading issues by another 15 seconds for going from a game to the system's menu.
Nintendo is also planning for Miiverse to be released on mobile devices and the PC by next month. http://www.destructoid.com/gdc-ninte...l-249840.phtml Finally at GDC, Nintendo outlined a lot of the steps they are doing to help bring in more indie support for the Wii U while also removing a lot of the restrictions Wiiware was towards indie developers. The new toolkits were designed to allow porting to be a lot easier for the Wii U and now are given away for free as long those developers commit to making games for the services (not just ports). Nintendo is also giving developers almost total control with the service in regards to release dates, pricing, and approval processes. http://www.destructoid.com/gdc-ninte...t-249898.phtml |
