Hmm, I thought this week's Impact was.... solid. The matches were good (really enjoyed Bennett vs Moose and the Main). Although, I was somewhat disappointed that there was no Aaron Rex or Drew Galloway on the show . I think this was a good start for the "new TNA" (this is like the third or fourth time they've tried to reestablish but oh well) it was nowhere near as "over the top" as the last two New Year shows.... but that isn't a bad thing

Moose vs Bennett was probably the best Grand Championship style match. I still hope they drop the round format and think they are headed that way with the first wish of that match. I don't see Bennett being happy about not being pinned and losing. Main event was good but Eddie's surprise wasn't all that surprising.

Wasn't that one of Corgan's ideas? Seems likely if so. It also sucks the big one. Rounds are only for real sports or maybe British Wrestling.
A Rhode Scholars reunion would be nice if TNA can afford Cody. |

Cody is already in TNA, where he is clearly setting the world alight.

I don't think he has really signed anywhere just get though. Had already performed for TNA, ROH, and NJPW. Might continue to just do what ever he wants for a while. I just wish he could use the Rhodes name.

She is pretty terrible as a wrestler too. So, he basically hosed them and left.

She did pretty well to be as green as she was. She really only came along to have the Rhodes name on TV and she got to wrestle which is something she wanted to do. He had a good program with Bennett and had a match for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Was attacked by Lashley the last time he was seen on Impact so they left the door open for more appearances if he chooses.

I think Cody could have value to New Japan, and given that they are the #2 promotion in the world, I wouldn't risk getting into bed with TNA at this point.

No doubt I think NJPW is the best place for him as well. Not sure what he really wants to do though. I think he likes doing the freelance thing.

Yeah, you're right, but that's why he shouldn't buckle down with TNA. He's going to have more freedom with New Japan and can probably make shots with ROH and some west coast promotions, like PWG and PCW. I am determined to get PCW over, dammit.

I don't think he'll "buckle down" anywhere just yet. He could work TNA, ROH, NJPW, PWG, and PCW and not sign exclusive deals with any of them.

True, but didn't Eva "supposedly" only have like 4 weeks of training before she was put on the main roster? When she came back I thought Eva's performances were completely acceptable. Brandi spent 3(ish) years in NXT and her matches in TNA, well....

No, still can't use the Rhodes name on TV. Kind of found a loophole in TNA using Brandi as Cody & Brandi Rhodes. In ROH he went as Cody R and goes as The American Nightmare Cody in NJPW.

Brandi is gorgeous and it feels like she has personality to share with the wrestling world, but not everybody needs to be in-ring. It feels like the acts most people rave about in the WWE these days are acts that would make better managers than wrestlers. But I'm more interesting in Brandi "standing by her man" than getting in the ring herself. She's the Pepper Potts to Cody's Iron Man -- you don't need to give her her own power suit (although I'm sure there's a Marvel storyline where she does have one).
When Maria and Mike Bennett sign with the WWE later this year, Cody & Brandi can fill that roll in New Japan and on the independent scene. It looks like he will be working with TNA for the foreseeable future too. If they can get The Young Bucks in there for that program with The Hardys and to pimp some Bullet Club merchandise, I can see their viewers climbing to 500,000. |

I'm not the biggest fan of the guy, but why they haven't signed Ryborg and had him just destroy jobbers that basically work for free every week is beyond me. I can legitimately see people looking forward to the Ryborg squash each week and it takes away one segment you need to put a lot of creative effort into.

As far as this week, another decent show. DCC were the definite standouts of the show. I really liked the promo, and I chuckled when they said Bram was 6 ft Seven I will say also, Kingston has really won me over. I wasn't a huge fan of his in the beginning, but he's lost a ton of weight (I like the new vest as opposed to the singlet or the "catchers pad" it look like he wore one week) his part of the promo was good and I am overall enjoying his stuff in TNA. ...... And then there's Sandow. Now when I saw it I had a large groan just like most other people but then a friend brought something to my attention. He said that the character is suppose to be a "modern day Adrian Adonis", and I can conceivably see Aaron Rex pulling that off. "Supposedly" this gimmick was his idea, and he has made ALOT more out of less, so I'm gonna keep an open mind for this one. Final mention, it may have been just me, but the crowd really seemed to be into the show last night. It may have been because this episode was filmed when they just started tapings (and there's some "shenanigans " that I read about that happened in the last couple of days) but it does seem to help that the crowd seemed into the show as opposed to just sitting on their hands. |

I'd be all for Paul Titan TNA World Heavyweight Champion. I'm not going to blow smoke up your ass though, man -- I will probably still hate the Grand Championship even if you win it.

You're right with Sandow. Honestly, I don't really think Mizdow getting over was anything he particularly did, but the Intellectual Savior of the Masses thing he deserves all the credit in the world for.

Matt Hardy is a former two-time TNA Champion. I had no clue. Was this during his "Big Money Matt" run?

The first time he won it was in a triple threat at BFG with EC3 and Drew Galloway. EC3 was the undefeated champion and Hardy pinned Galloway to win the title. However EC3 filed an injunction which forced Matt Hady off Impact for a month which meant he had to give up the title. The second time was a Last Man Standing match with EC3 where they did the double turn and Big Money Matt was born. Last Man Standing match was pretty good.

Yeah Jeff was forced to be EC3s personal assistant and was also the special guest referee in that match and why EC3 filed the injunction.

Glad to see Caleb Konley finally debut this week. He's been signed awhile and only showed up on ONOs. Really think he has AJ Styles potential in the company. Can be a guy to revitalize the X division and a guy they can build up the card.

I guess now that Maria is gone this gif can be retired from this thread.
Unless they sign with ROH again and in which case it will start the next page. |
