Steroids shortening life spans of wrestlers

With the passing of Warrior (most likely heart attack from all those years of steroids) it makes one think about who is to follow suit...lets discuss roid users, ex-users and who's most likely to die from it.

How bout Batista as a candidate? Chris Masters? discuss

I would disagree that roids cause heart attacks in wrestlers. When you really think about it, professional wrestling has to be one of, if not the hardest professional sports to do. Considering all the stress they put on their bodies with no "off season", wrestling six days a week, plus maintaining a physique just to possibly be successful. On top of that the mental pressure put on them by tons of people critiqueing everything they do (in both the company and fans), all of that has to be nearly unbearable for people. Stress is more deadly that drugs could ever be.

steroid abuse has definitely played a part in the deaths of multiple professional wrestlers. This thread is idiotic but to claim otherwise is a bit daft. It may be one of the roughest jobs physically in any walk of life but there's no more stress in pro wrestling at the highest level than there is in other high profile careers in the public eye. You see what stress does to politicians in a short space of time, especially presidents, prime ministers i.e those in the highest office. They don't then turn around and die in a hotel bathroom before turning 50.

I'm saying it's both the mental and physical stress. Putting that much stress on the body by working out, working shows, not getting regular sleep and I'm sure they "play through the pain" all the time, shortens their lives. I'm not oblivious to the fact that steroids are used by all professional athletes (I'm sure pain killers and other drugs are passed around freely), I'm saying there is no one clear reason why wrestlers tend to die at a younger age.

I'd say drugs, not just gear but prescription, non-prescription, performance enhancing, recreational etc are pretty much the clear reason for wrestlers dying at a young age. Do some of these guys turn to drugs because of the demands of the industry? I'm sure that's the case. But for every guy that does that, there are others that don't. And they aren't the ones dying.
