Best Tag Team Division: WCW Circa 1989-1990

Was watching some old matches recently and I forgot how amazing WCWs Tag Team division in 1989-1990 was. Just look at the teams.

Steiners
Road Warriors
Southern Boys
Skyscrapers
Doom
Various Horseman combos
The Freebirds
Midnight Express
Samoan Swat Team/Wild Somoans or whatever they were called that week
Rock N Roll Express
Nasty Boys
Varsity Club

The fact that the dynamic dudes carried the straps was a bit off, but I dare you all to find a better concurrent roster of teams in WCW or WWF at any point.

WWF at that era was fairly stacked as well.

Then again, this was around the time people really cared about tag teams.

What was the WWF tag division in 1989?

Rockers
Demolition
Hart Foundation
Powers of Pain
Rougeaus
Bushwhackers
Colossal Connection
Twin Towers
Brain Busters
Strike Force
Orient Express
Power and Glory

Yeah thats fucking close. I think the WWF had the better "names" from a nostalgic standpoint.

Fuck me running. Golden age of tag wrasslin

Feel like we need a 10 team vs 10 team Elimination match to determine a winner.

NWA by far had the better tag teams of the two imho.

Bushwhackers had become circus acts by that point. I don't begrudge them however for taking the payday. they had already bled buckets of their blood and bruised and battered their body all over the world.

they deserved to take it easy and make the $$$.

It just makes me sad that so many don't know their history. they only know them as the lovable goofballs in WWF.

The PowerPlex trumps anything in WCW.

How is it that the Orient Express and Power and Glory had the best tag team finishers ever but always jobbed?

Triple H misses that era too. He's trying to return it to its former glory. I don't know why you'd be trying to break up Cody Rhodes & Goldust now though. I really think the ship has sailed for that rivalry to be interesting, and what exactly is Cody going to do as a heel? I'd rather just see the team turn heel out of frustration due to upcoming battles with The Usos.

R-Truth & Xavier Woods could be a far more valuable team if they were given mic time to explain their motivations for teaming with each other. Have Truth bring up how he left the WWE in 2001 and everyone thought he was done, but the one guy who showed him respect was Xavier Woods. He's not just a protoge to Truth, but a best friend.

Christian & Damien Sandow could make a great heel team forged out of desperation and a desire to remain relevant. That's if Christian can remain healthy. If he can't, eventually you can turn him into the manager for the team and have Aiden English come up as Sandow's cultured partner. Or have Solomon Crowe join the main roster in the role. Isn't Crowe's gimmick meant to be something of a hacker? Hackers are smart, right?

Re-hire John Morrison to be in a tag team with The Miz. They could work as either faces or heels. Dolph Ziggler & Tyson Kidd can do the same. Kofi Kingston isn't doing anything, so why not bring back that old buddy of his, Evan Bourne?
