"For what it's worth, and plans are always changing, but F4Wonline.com reports that the finish for the 30-man Royal Rumble main event is written and whatever they have planned to happen is going to set up a big match at the February 21st Fastlane pay-per-view. WWE officials reportedly want Fastlane to be an A-level pay-per-view and not just another stop on the Road to WrestleMania."
The breaking news here from one of the so-called industry leaders: 1. An upcoming Network Special has a finish booked (what is the actual finish? Well that would require inside information). 2. A future Network Special will have a "big match". (More shocking news at 11) How is this acceptable? |

Meltzer and Alvarez are about the only people I would give any credence to with rumors.

The quality of "real" journalism has plummeted since social media took off, it's all about getting hits, screw the integrity. Ya think an industry as ropey as wrestling should have more integrity?

there's never really been any "real" journalism in the industry. The market leaders make things up. The other sites cut and paste their made up stuff.

Keller and Meltzer are the standard bearers. Anybody else is pretty much copy and paste crap.
NotSam is pretty good for podcasting. |

Background See also: Professional wrestling Fastlane will feature professional wrestling matches that involved wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds or storylines that play out on WWE's primary television programs, Raw and SmackDown. Wrestlers will portray heroes or villains as they follow a series of events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches.[2][3] |

I think CyNick resents Dave Meltzer due to his success as a wrestling reporter

My issue is with the quality. I think we should expect more. People like you have no standards I guess. There's no way you can read the "report" I posted in this thread and say it's good journalism. Imagine if an NFL insider said "the Super Bowl" has been worked out. It will feature two football teams". |

That doesnt work. Its more like the season finale of Walking Dead has been worked out and someone will die. You cant compare journalism from a real sport to somthing that is a tv show. Your standards for wrestling journalism seem to be a little high.

His standards for wrestling journalism aren't applicable to wrestling journalism. For a guy who has clearly spent years watching wrestling he doesn't really seem to understand it at all. And he only seems to like WWE which I can only assume means he's not a wrestling fan, he's a WWE fan.

CyNick is a guy that thinks he knows way more than he actually does. It's doubtful he's ever actually worked in news, media or entertainment for any significantly sized company. He's likely never negotiated a television rights deal or negotiated any kind of agreement re: the rights for the public performance or broadcast of intellectual property. He's most likely never negotiated any kind of business deal larger than selling his own house or car. He's almost positively never sat in on a board meeting or business affairs meeting for a major international company while they discussed their plans, goals, strategies and annual and quarterly results as it relates to ratings, subscriber counts, sales, profits, loss, debt, credit, revenues, assets, liabilities, etc., let alone been a part of negotiations with them or on the company's behalf. As much as Cynick would like to think (and like US to think) that we just don't understand and that he has some greater overall understanding of the WWE's, the media, television or the entertainment industries inner business workings, ratings, finances, goals, strategies, etc. He simply doesn't. He's simply a tool. |

Of course, they're all WrestleMania to you, so you don't really extract that nugget.

HHH won the belt. As a direct reaction to that victory, the main event of Fastlane will now be a lackluster Triple Threat that Gorgeous Dale Newstead already "wrote out". Card subject to change. Titties. |

You might say "But Drave, the match wasn't made until RAW. Also, I don't like titties because...." To which I would say "True, but there wouldn't have been the NEED to create the main event of the PPV if said result did not happen the night before." ALTERNATE DIMENSIONAL EXISTENCE IS RUINING THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT!!!!!! I like bacon. |

Rumble itself was for the title. We knew that going in. The "big scoop" from the bloggers was Rumble finish has been finalized and it will lead to something at Fastlane.
No such thing happened. Another example of pure bullshit that comes out of these guys mouths. |

Fastlane now gets the Rumble's traditional #1 contender's match instead of the usual meaningless throw-away match because of its traditional bad position between Rumble and Mania. |
