Eddie Guerrero Not Happy With Title Loss,& More

Eddie Guerrero was not happy about WWE's decision to take the WWE Title off of him, but did not complain about it backstage. Most believe that he will get the title back soon anyway, possibly as soon as Summerslam.

As a reminder, tonight's Smackdown! will be headlined by Spike Dudley getting a shot at JBL's gold.

Ric Flair and Sgt. Slaughter will be the guests on WWE Byte This today at 4PM ET on WWE.com.

If he didn't complain, how do they know he's not happy?

(just being stupid)

Anyway, I think it's really professional of him not to whine even though he knows it's a horrible decision. Pure class.

I would say its a pretty good bet he's getting back before Summerslam.

I can understand why he might be upset about dropping the title to an inferior talent, but at the same time, I'm sure he realizes the brand is still built around him, so he has to know he'll get it back sooner or later.

Eddie has the right to be upset, but if he complains I will lose a lot of respect for the man. This is the WWE's decision, and it's better for business. Eddie will almost definately get the title again, so he keeps doing his job, and what he's good at, he'll be champ again in no time.

How is Bradshaw being WWE Champion better for business?

It'd be like A-Train beating Chris Benoit for the World Title, just because it's the WWE's decision doesn't mean it's really fucking good for the morale of the company. I mean how would you like it if you busted your ass night in and night out putting on excellent matches and being one of the top two over workers in the whole company, be rewarded with the WWE Title, enjoy a nice run as champion, only to drop it to a worthless fucktard like JBL?

Probably about the same as Bret Hart felt when he had to drop to Backlund, or Yokozuna or Sid (geez poor Bret) or HBK felt when he dropped to Sid, or Austin felt when he dropped to Kane, or HHH felt when he dropped to Vince.

Just pointing out, Eddie's in good company.

My best bet is that they gave the title to Bradshaw so Eddie can go into Summerslam as an underdog, giving the match a little more drama to it. Not saying the match will be any better, but at least now people gave got a damn good reason to get his belt back.

(And now that I'm thinking about it, ain't it kind of funny that the initials of the first PPV that Bradshaw's defending his title will be "SS"?)

Eddie dropping the title without making a whining spectacle of it is good for his image overall. It may not be the best thing for business or WWE (and most of us would say it's a terrible decision) but it'll certainly help him get the title back eventually.

Hey new guy

I think if business stays bad, JBL will claim they could have turned things around if they kept the belt on him. But that wont be public for a long time. Right now he's got a good spot in the company, Vince really likes him, and he's been around a long time. So I dont think he'll be making any negative comments publically.

Well since Eddie has been carrying Smackdown for quite a while, I think that he can give his opinions without facing much backlash, and might even have some character control. Only the main eventers have significant pull when it comes to ideas about their character, so if Eddie really had a problem about it, he would have said so. He knows that JBL needs to get the title soon before he gets stale and all of the fans think of him as a joke. With his CNBC firing, much publicity was given to the show and may have attracted more fans. This ensures that another significant heel is a mainstay on Smackdown.

I wouldn't worry about the JBL title reign for long. Sure I was absolutely f***ing gutted when he won the title but Eddie will get it back soon. He did a good job in the position that he was in and he deserves to be a two time WWE champion.

That's the thing. I think he can afford to be vocal, but I also think he should be vocal. However, I don't doubt he's worried about the possibility of being buried, no matter how over he's been.

The WWE has encouraged an environment of silence and sycophancy, with the threat of ruining people who voice themselves. Basically, it's like driving down the road with a drunk driver, remaining silent because the driver has threatened to kick you out of the car (while it's still moving) if you question his capacity to drive.

Unfortunately, they have some of the most knowledgable people in the wrestling business, and don't seem to be listening to them.

Yeah Eddie was notoriously hard on himself, couldn't take the pressure of being champ from what I've heard.

I remember reading somewhere that prior to his untimely death, he was pushing for Randy Orton to get Batista's (now retired) World Heavyweight Championship as opposed to himself.

I remember about 3 days after Eddie died SvR 2006 came out and they had the story line with Eddie vs The UnderTaker which ended with Eddie being placed in the casket.

I remember that well. Legend passes away, days later the best entry in the SvR portion of the series (IMO) dropped.

And yeah, that storyline was so eerie... gave me chills.

Eddie's last match. I still find it somewhat eerie that both Eddie and Umaga's last matches were vs. Kennedy.

His final appearance on Smackdown was the beginning of a face turn with the return of the low rider and the "Viva La Raza" theme.
