MLB Fantasy Baseball 2013
Is up and running.
Who is in? League ID#: 48073 League Name: TPWW Baseball Password: horsey Custom League URL: http://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/league/tpww Any comments about scoring, positions, draft date welcome. So he fucked them in school. All I know is there were rumours. There were rumours he was into field hockey players. There were rumours (So I applied basically), he was gone the next day, (I went on their team), it's like he was gone, it was like so hush hush, they were so quiet about it, and the next thing you know... |

one thing Ive noticed as years go by is there seems to be more ctergories added, to the point there are (imo) too many.
I'm not suggesting 5x5, but perhaps 6x6, 7x7 at the most (or 7x6???) s'aul good |

What would you suggest as a 6x6 or 7x7?
What I'd like is a league that makes different skill sets valuable. I'd also like to make sure that one dimensional players aren't over valued. |

yup agreed. I don't exactly know, I'm hoping to stimulate some discussion
what's your opinion on the saves/holds catergory? |

It is interesting because it allows for guys who are stuck in bullpen by committee or who lose their jobs etc
I was also mulling having outs rather than k as a category. It seems odd that a guy who strikes out a lot of people is more valuable than a ground ball pitcher etc - strikeouts are fascist What would you take out? Take out total bases? Hits? |

Already have my first draft going on. It's a league with another message board I post at. It's an offline draft so we started it really early so that everybody can have ample time to make their picks, trades can occur during the draft, etc.
10 team league and have the 10th pick. Started off with McCutchen and Kershaw as my top two picks, and then grabbed Reyes and A-Gon in the next go around. Nice start. Also there are individual OF spots in that league, so I'm liking that A-Gon can be played in RF if need be. |

There was a major run on pitching in the next round, so I'm happy with my decision. Most of the people in the league have like-minded draft strategies.
Also having my picks "together" forced me to go for pitching a bit earlier than I would have otherwise. |

lets say 8x8 scoring cats
with a mix of stats that don't favour one type of player. Which 16 would you go for? |

Not fully sold on holds as a fantasy stat yet. What is this net saves and holds thing? One stat shouldn't count for more than one category.

You would have holds + saves = so both count equally. But you wouldn't have holds and saves as separate cats.
W, Outs, WHIP, ERA, H+S gives you 5 cats - what other 3? 'Negative' cats like HR, OBP, L? |

Quality Start is one i'm quite fond of. Complete game/shutout are ones that I sometimes include in leagues I run.
Not exactly a fan of Loses since there's a lot of factors that make a team lose a game not all on the pitcher. Walks is a good negative stat which is usually all on the pitcher. Along with the ones YOUR Hero stated. Strike-outs? |

Got 9 pitching cats which:
W,OUT,HR,BB,ERA,WHIP,OBPA,QS,SV+H' Now for 9 hitting + fielding cats Any suggestions? Also, it seems to be getting much harder to get people interested in doing fantasy sports the last few seasons. |

Would like to join, but a million categories is a turnoff. If you have WHIP, having BB is a bit redundant. Same goes for wins and QS. It tends to unbalance the game from my experience.
Why not just 5x5 or 6x6 and change some of outdated categories like AVE to OBP? I'm assuming you can't do many SABR stats like FIP or WOBA, right? |

QS is a good because it balances out the "good pitchers on shitty teams" argument. It's 6.0 innings with less than 3 earned runs. It's not really related to wins. A quality start can lead to a win with a good offense.
Too much Moneyball turns fantasy baseball into a math class. It's why people like Fantasy Football better no averages at all. Although FIP would combined strikeouts, walks, hit by pitches, and homeruns for pitching. It's a little bit math heavy though. Not sure if it's available in yahoo. This stat seems to directly go against what you were talking about not liking Quality Start though. Last edited by SlickyTrickyDamon; 02-20-2013 at 03:35 PM. |

I can keep 5 in my money keeper league. This team is my baby. Maybe the greatest fantasy team i've ever put together over a season. They finished 2nd last year. Lost a tie breaker in the final game. Clearly i'm keeping Trout. Probably keeping Harper. I would like to keep Machado, but i might be able to draft him. I really dont wanna let Zimmerman go and I kinda wanna keep Wilin Rosario because i think he might be a beast. I'm lost. Help!
Mike Trout Carlos González Dustin Pedroia Curtis Granderson Bryce Harper B.J. Upton Pablo Sandoval Anthony Rizzo Wilin Rosario Miguel Montero Manny Machado Jurickson Profar Cole Hamels Craig Kimbrel Mat Latos Jordan Zimmermann Brandon Morrow Doug Fister Hiroki Kuroda Huston Street Jarrod Parker Addison Reed Jeremy Hellickson Matt Thornton Francisco Rodríguez Daniel Hudson |

Holy shit, I thought autodraft might have wound up fucking me after I blew most of my budget and left but it filled out the rest of my starting lineup with Rosario (who was probably my top C target), Espinosa, and Headley. Plus Ortiz on the bench who I can always plug in the Utility spot.
Pitching needs some help - but god I love my team. |

Rosario was your top rated catcher? Yikes. His value rests on sustaining a pretty impressive HR total.
Of course, I really have no room to talk after spending $11 on Santana when Molina was still on the board. /shrug crossrine |
