The best suggestion I had ever hear for a Nolan-esque Penguin would be a pudgy arms dealer who gets the nickname Penguin
I still don't think we'll see it, nor do I really even want to. I think Riddler and Catwoman are the way to go, but I also wouldn't rule out Nolan going in a suprising direction. Establishing Hush as a major villain would be interesting. I think less known villains are often written off as not being established, but every villain that's over with the mainstream has to get there somehow. Starring in a movie does that. I doubt very many non-comic reading people had a clue who Two Face, Posion Ivy and Mr. Freeze were before the Schumacher movies, even if they sucked. Same goes for a lot of the villains popularized by the animated series, like Riddler, Catwoman and maybe even Joker and Penguin to a degree. They weren't always cultural figures. Really I have total faith in Nolan to do what he thinks is best for the story. I really wouldn't doubt it until I saw it for myself, given his track record and grip on the material thus far. |

Yeah, he has been spot on with casting and filming. I really hope they dont shit the bed.
I knew who Two-Face and Ivy were but never heard of Mr. Freeze before the movie. Definitely would love if they continued with the movies past the third as I really do enjoy them. |

I think Penguin could work if they portray him as a ruthless gangster trying to take control of the Gotham underworld all the while looking like a legit businessman like in the trade paper back "As the Crow Flies"

According to IGN three actors from Inception are being considered for the role of Riddler and of those I wouldn't mind seeing Tom Hardy do it and I just can't see Leo playing him at all Despite how great an actor JGL he couldn't pull off the likes of Cobra Commander so I can see him doing much bettter in this role. Heck I wouldn't be suprised if Marie Cotillard was being considered for Catwoman she certainly has the right eyes for the part.

I was reading an interview with Nolan where he talked about being excited for this film being an ending to their Batman story.
As he said, these things continue in the comics but in movies they tell a finite story. That means they're looking to deliberately wrap up their Batman mythology. This got me thinking, they probably aren't going to go the typical comic book route that even the older films took, where no matter what happens, Batman is left ready for his next adventure. Is it possible that this movie won't do the whole vindication and establishing of Batman as Gotham's hero thing? Could Batman "end"? Could we see his identity be revealed or him retire? Could Batman die? Dunno. Nolan always seems to go all out with these, and isn't afraid to smash expectations and take risks. I'm wondering what bets are off for this movie and where it's going to go storywise. |

I would imagine some official announcements on a title and the villain(s) would be coming very soon.
Seems due now that Nolan is done with Inception's release and filming is slated for the spring. |

Everyone seems to be thinking he'll be the Riddler, but I feel like he'd be a little too buff and intimidating for that. Still would like Joseph Gordon Levitt for the Riddler. For any role actually.

Just the remarks about other guys being sexy, you don't need a psychoanalyst, you need shooting in the fucking face. |

Hey, it takes a guy who is very secure in his sexuality to commend another guy on his looks. And Tom Hardy is a pretty fucking decent looking fella.

I'll admit/comment/discuss/debate if someone flat out asks me my opinion on if a guy looks 'attractive', but all this 'he is hella sexy' stuff just reeks of faggotry. Have fun with that, although I bet you have enough as it is.

Go ahead and delete all the 'he is sexy' shit then. I love reading/discussing Batman, and dislike reading guys posting how they find other guys sexy, just ruins the flow.

You do realize I don't actually want to chew on his scrotum? And I would call anyone I'm a big fan of 'ridiculously sexy' or some variant, even if they looked like you Jon Kano? The fact Tom Hardy is a good looking man only serves to make my superlatives vaguely true in this case.
And hella? I'm not SammyG you bastard. I'd rather you shot me in the face than insinuate that. And Batman is cool. Back on topic quick replying people. |
