Yeah episode 5 was a good one, Desmond is a brilliant character. I'm assuming whatever happened when he turned the key was the radiation exposure which eventually triggered his problem...

Yeah, also there was the lightning that struck him that triggered his whole 'seeing into the future' thing. Daniel Farraday said it would be prolonged exposure to radiation or electromagnetic activity.

My guess is that after getting all the radiation and stuff from the hatch, he started to get displaced in time, only forward and for short little snapshots. Hence how he saw the future. Then leaving the island just let loose all of the side effects and he started just hopping back and forth.
And Lost wasn't always this sci-fi. Up until season 3 the most sci-fi thing that there was was the monster being a smoke monster. And I'm not saying its bad that its going more and more out there. It actually makes it more interesting. |

Nah this Sci-Fi shit is a cop out. I liked the show and all but if all the answers are gonna be sci-fi bullshit then you could use that to explain anything.

Fuckin awesome ep jus seen it.
Its gettin a bit deep now, starting to think that Penny and her dad is more involved in this an everyone thinks. If you were as sad as me to scroll Lostpedia one time, it says if you did that lost interactive game thingy, it had a list of all these companies that helped fund the Hanso group, and Widmore Industries as well as Paik Industries (Sun's father) were listed as contributers. And with Jim Robinson aka Penny's Dad buying that book, I dunno they are getting more connected. I think Penny does know where the Island is at this point, and all that 'research' she has been doing. Whats getting to me is that they never talk about the big issues - like the new rescue workers, its like they know what the problem is - that theres a time relapse, the islands etc, but they cant talk about it or tell the losties - I know thats all to do with keeping the suspense, but in terms of an actual reason, I just wonder why they can't tell them, or get them to help or jus all figure out whats going on - its like if they know, the world will end, maybe it has something to do with the time travel stuff. |

Last night's was great. I am so pissed that we didn't get to find out who is on the boat but I am going with Michael. DS suggested possibly Locke's father, just for a huge twist. We went into the details of why it could be, but I'll spare those for now until we find out. The thing that gets me is that in the preview for next week they said 'a face you'd never expected to see again'. But it's pretty obvious that people dig deep into this show, and having the actor who plays Michael featured in the credits is a pretty obvious sign so people will be expecting it. DUNNO.

Defo gonna be Michael.
Locke's dad is dead, and to being him back would be pointless so we'll have less of that. From the episode of FLASHES BEFORE YOUR EYES, I kinda knew the show would take this turn. I think Desmond is the key to everything, I think somehow, when this all ends or whatever the main crisis end up being, Desmond or someone will have to fix it all by doing something with time travel. The fact we are seeing flash-forwards suggests that what we are seeing as 'present day' on the Island has already happened. So whatever is going on on the boat and Island, its not the first time, there is some kind of problem that needs to be fixed. The fact that Desmond had the old woman as a guide in FBYE suggests that there is a body or power larger than we have seen yet that can also time travel and knows what needs to be done. Think its about time Juliet got those tits out though, she is fuckin hot as hell. |

See, about Locke's dad. It makes you wonder if he was really there or not. Ben seems to have a way with possibly manifesting people to get what he wants. So what if Locke's father was just a manifestation to get something out of Locke and Sawyer and wasn't actually there for real.

the one thing that still hasn't been answered that well is all those random figures that appear to random characters on the island. Like Jack's dad, Walt, Hurley's friend. I don't understand what's the point there.

I am assuming right now that that has something to do with 'Jacob', but we'll have to wait and see.
What really irks me is the smoke cloud, I mean wtf is that? |

Also I have a query for you Lost smarks...Is the series already written in its entirety? Ie were the main storylines, what inevitably makes up the ending and all these intricacies (or arbitrary plot twists depending on how cynical you are and the answer to my question) all drafted before the series even went into production or are the creators making it up as they go along?

I wouldn't doubt these guys had all the basic storylines and everything written before Season 1 actually aired. I think they change some things along the way, but I think the beginning, middle, end had all been figured out beforehand.
also, sorry to go back to my question, but remember in season 1 when either Jack or Lock kept seeing a man in a suit on the beach. Was that Jack's dad? I am trying to recall. |

The writers and producers constantly get interviewed about whether or not they're making it up as they go along and they've always admitted to having a general outline of how things are going to play out on the show, but obviously they fill in the actual plotline particulars when it's time and tweak and change when appropriate.
They've admitted to killing Libby off when they did to add to the shock value or Ana Lucia's death (someone the fans never warmed to) and keeping on Ben's character for longer than they expected to due to loving the actor. Eko died before he was supposed to because he wanted to do other things back home and they killed off Nikki and Paulo before ever really letting them do anything because the fans completely hated them and how they were thrust into the show. Yeah, Jack was seeing visions of his dad. Someone already linked the Lost webisode with Christian that sheds more light on this. All of these visions, especially the ones that full out interact are manifestations of the island. Keep in mind the main character of Lost is the island. The smoke monster and any real island mythos is essentially the one ultimate mystery that isn't going to be explained until the very end. |

Wow, Gia is such a sad movie. There were parts that were painful to watch. Not the lesbian scenes though. Those were hot.

SPOILERS BELOW: (get over it, it's a Lost thread.. don't view it if you don't want to see spoilers anyway)
Tonights episode... was.. wow. I knew it was gonna be Micheal on the boat. But WHAT THE FUCK... about the rest of it. Jin and Sun.. what the hell is going on? Something to do with this crazy time paradox, or was it just a flash back for him? Last edited by Requiem; 03-13-2008 at 10:10 PM. |

it was a flashback for him and a foreward for her. what you saw in her flash forward made that obvious. Also there are some people that didnt see the episode yet and theyre gonna be pissed about the michael comment.
