Seriously though, all I came in here to say was that I love Conan and don't like how his run ended. That, and I think less of Leno because of it (still suspect he had a hand in it), even though I realize it was mostly NBC's doing.
Didn't really want to start a "turf war" over it. I was just coming to my own defense. |

Thank you Narc.
Now the question is how much longer will this argument go on? Will Zeeboe fire back? Will either man back down? How many pages will this thread hit? Is Zeeboe really Leno himself?! It's amazing what one man will do to just procrastinate. |

Eh, you're the only one I'm calling a kid. Okay, so you didn't like the last question. I'll rephrase - Did you first watch Saved by the Bell when it aired on NBC, or when it started airing on Nick Jr?

I watched the show when it originally aired, though I don't know what that has to do with anything. Would you feel worse being put in your place by someone younger?

I don't give two shits what you think of me or that you're trying to "understand" me. Fact is, I've been pretty entertained reading the last few pages of your idiocy and trying to "get to me."

I like that you are using the smiley now. You've realized you sound like an ass, so you're trying to laugh everything off to "gain some cred" as the kids say.

God Zeeboe you WOULD like Leno
I am convinced that no one is going to watch Leno now and that is going to turn out the exact same as it was at primetime. |

I guess it makes sense now. Apparently Leno's payout would have been 150M if the Jay Leno Show was cancelled and he was fired (assuming he didn't get the Tonight Show back I guess) compared to Conan's 32M payout.
So Leno knew he would get 150M if they tried to cancel his show. I don't really believe the conspiracy theorists that think Jay planned this all along or whatever but I mean thats a pretty big security blanket for someone as "popular" as Leno. Getting that written into his contract pretty much ensures he wouldn't get fired. IMO, seems like Conan would have been done whether his ratings were better or not. |

AOL users are old
For the Rapleaf study, the company sampled 120,000 webmail accounts from users with @aol.com, @gmail.com, @hotmail.com, and @yahoo.com email addresses. They then looked into the users' age and gender after having collected the data from social media profiles where people have publicly disclosed this information. Obviously, in doing so, they've skewed their findings a bit, as the company notes in their blog post. Users of social media sites already tend to be younger, so it's not surprising that they found that the majority of the webmail users studied were young with 75% under the age of 35.
Rapleaf says that despite their collection methods, their findings can offer insight into these different userbases. To some extent, that may be true, but we're left wondering how different these findings would be if they hadn't relied on public social media data and rather went with a true random sample. Gmail Skews Young, AOL Older That being said, here's what Rapleaf came up with. In terms of age:
As for AOL being comprised of older users, that too, is relatively unsurprising. Where Google is the newest service, AOL is one of the oldest. Its core user base has aged with it over the years and those who haven't jumped shipped yet are bound to be the older members who don't stay as current with changing technology trends. Still, setting the bar for "old" at 36 is a little humbling - especially for those of us getting up in our years. (That's not old, is it?) It would be interesting to see further breakdowns of this demographic into age segments including 40+, 50+, and so on, but that data was not available. http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives..._are_older.php Not purely scientific as the samples were self-reported instead of random. |

Not sure why this just popped into my head, but do you think Conan would fare well involved in a sitcom (either writing or acting)?
I don't know what his limitations are as far as what television-related stuff he can/cannot do, but it could be interesting to see him do something like that. |

I won't say he could never act, but I think he would be much better suited to writing. He's much too known for being Conan to ever really be an effective actor (unless it's a cameo or voice work). But his name carries such gravitas that "written by Conan O'Brien" would probably draw decent ratings for a pilot.

Again, what age has to do with anything makes no sense to me. That motto of "youth must be served" is lame. I say get in line with everyone else, and if the old timers wanna go for seconds, that's their right. In a way, judging someone based on their age is no different then judging someone based on their skin color.
Loyalty means more to me then trends, and AOL has been good to me, so that is where I will stay. It's the same deal with MySpace/Facebook. I will remain loyal to MySpace always no matter what the media says is the popular social network now. I know no one asked for my bio, but a point must be made: Bear in mind, I'm also a defender of old-school wrestlers, and think these kids today suck, so is it that shocking I'd be all about the old ways? I have an older cell phone too with no texting or any of that other junk people have on their cell phones, I love U.S. history, I love classic rock and classic films and classic video games, and I have a PS2 as well as a classic Nintendo and Super Nintendo, a discmen, tons of CD's, no Ipod here, and I even still use VHS's to record stuff. No DVR or Tivo. My favorite current NBA player is Shaq, and the only new-school stuff I have is a blu-ray player and an HDTV. And heck, the "youngest bands" I love are Korn, Kid Rock, Eminem, ICP, Rob Zombie, and Manson, and by today's teenage standards, I'm sure those guys are all consider old. Most of my favorite "new" movies also have older people in the leads....Freddy vs. Jason, The Devil's Rejects, Rocky Balboa, Death Proof, The Wrestler, etc. Being "old" is not a bad thing to me. "Old" to me means more dependable and experienced. Treason is also a characteristic I loath, along with being trendy, so you'll never see me betray anyone or anything, ESPECIALLY if it's all for the sake of following a trend. Fuckin' A right it is, and that's one of the many reasons why I'm proud to be an American. Quote:

And people have doubted Leno before, and expected him to fall, and he did not. So don't get your hopes up. Up until he left, he was the King of Late Night TV, and was kicking Letterman's ass in the ratings. |

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with age. I'm saying that the poll you initially brought up, the one that said more people preferred Leno, was probably skewed because it came from AOL due to AOL being more heavily slanted towards older people. Look at that graph. If you sent out e-mails to only gmail users, do you think you would get the same result? Probably not.
The ratings don't lie and they are a more scientific result than either of us have provided. Conan's finale, after only 7-months of the Tonight Show, outdrew Jay Leno's 17-years there by 40% in the younger demographic. You can take that however you want. Maybe Jay's audience all got older. Maybe newer viewers didn't find him as funny as their parents. Did Jay have better overall numbers? Absolutely. Did he also have better lead-ins and more time to build an audience? Absolutely. |

Conan would be roflmao in a sitcom where he plays himself like Larry David. So pretty much he can just be him, but a magnified version of him. I dunno I could see that being so ROFLMAO, since he'd be writing it.
