I know you don't CSL, I know.

I'm just not a fan of reading a thread about a movie I'm interested in, then seeing 'he is so sexy' kinda thing, esp from someone who I know is a guy. TPWW is a man's world, its like my virtual pub. I guess I'm too testosteronie when it also comes to faggot type 'funny' posts like that. But if you wanna be 'that guy', then by all means discuss your hard on for Tom Hardy, or make a list of the top 10 sexy men to star in the Batman franchise (film).

I'm not at all. At present time I have 4 guys on my friends list who are gay and I consider great people/friends. It isn't an issue when it comes to people.

Just don't like guys acting queer in an attempt to be 'cool' or 'funny'. It just annoys me, and there is nothing wrong with airing something about myself on an Internet forum. You don't have to get all defensive or wage a massive debate when you encounter someone who doesn't match your ideal politically correct online utopia.

Seems to be along the lines of Batman Begins. If the titles are meant to chart the progress of Batman in the story, I think it's pretty good.

You have to call it something with Batman or one of his aliases. What are they going to call it, The Caped Crusader? Most of the Batman titles have been done too, and after calling the second The Dark Knight it's hard to go back to "Batman ___" in the title.

So it sort of had to be some variation on The Dark Knight. The Dark Knight Returns was a big rumor, even though it's the name of a famous graphic novel. It wouldn't be very fitting either since this movie is intended to be the final installment. "Returns" doesn't really fit an ending.

So I sort of dig it.
Batman Begins - Batman starts his crusade.
The Dark Knight - Batman becomes the dark hero of the city and an outcast.
The Dark Knight Rises - Batman takes his mantle? Fin.

The Dark Knight Rises implies it's NOT the final chapter to me. There seems to be a need for a fall after the rise. Or it implies he finally accepts his destiny, which again, suggests its just the beginning of a story to tell, which we know is coming to an end.

I thought they would include a title that suggested an final ending, or connoted some kind of realisation or statement, which I supposed 'Rises' can also do - I dunno, just doesn't seem like the best choice.

The Dawn (follows the Darkest/Dark Knight)
The Batman

...These are just a few titles I thought of in like 15 seconds, and either one would do fine.

That can easily be the end of the story. The Dark Knight was the fall. He's been blamed and being hunted for things he didn't do.
The rise implies him gaining vindication and rising to his mantle as the hero we know. That doesn't really mean a new beginning. In a way, yes. All stories have an aftermath. But a story can end there. Easily. In fact it makes the most sense that the story ends there, unless he retires or dies. Either way he can and will rise from where he was at the close of TDK.

Seems like a decent title to me, but could have been tweaked a little more.

Maybe something like 'Dark Knight Rising' or something.

I dunno. Still looking forward to it. Wonder who the villain will be now though, because if this is truly the end it has to be good and I swear to god they better not recast joker or something.

I did say in the latter part of my last reply that the title does indeed work for that reason, but it can also suggest there is more to come in a way.

So yes, it works, it makes sense, but is it a good title? I still don't think so.

...It just looks and sounds more pleasing with the use of 'Batman' being in the first and final title of their respective films. That's my opinion.



Other quick title ideas:

Dark Nights End (play on words/meaning of Knight/Night to suggest 'the bad days' are coming to an end - the Knight's rise through the Night)

Dawn of The Dark/Dawn of The Dark Knight

The Caped Crusader is actually a good one also.

True. I dig it. I suppose it's not as strong of a title as just The Dark Knight was, or Batman, but those are obviously off the table.

I'm glad it included a variation of "The Dark Knight" again. I like it way better than any other possibilities. Batman Rises is also good, but I'm more in favor of having TDK in there. I see how Batman on both ends of the trilogy balances the OCD in us, but really once they've changed Batman's moniker to TDK in the titles, they should stick with it.

In my opinion, a lot of those other titles are too far off (don't include Batman or TDK in them), pretentious, or silly (The Darkest Knight).

I feel like they've really done the best they can. The only other strong choice was probably The Dark Knight Returns, but it's got a few strikes against it as well.

But really, I don't care about the title at all. I'm more pumped for the content.

Thank god for them opting to not have this in 3D. Some franchises are too classic to have the extremely risky 3D gimmick.

I don't know. His comments are curious. I thought for sure Riddler would be in it, but unless he's lying then that's out.
I figured there weren't many choices that fit his style.

Black Mask is a strong possibility. I hoped he would be in it anyways, but I didn't think he'd be the main villain and more of a mob boss supporting character. I figured top duties would go to someone else.

Catwoman or just Selina Kyle is still a strong possibility for Batman's love interest. Or Talia Al Ghul.

It's interesting how he mentions characters returning. More than likely that just means Gordon, Fox, etc.
But I'm beginning to wonder if he'd toy with the idea of bringing Ras Al Ghul, or even Two Face back.

I was 99.9% certain Two Face wouldn't be back, and still sort of stand by that he should stay dead. I figured his story was served and Nolan intended to kill him.
Then again, if he goes back on it, I will reserve any judgement because he is brilliant and it will probably prove me wrong.

Then there's the possibility of smaller characters getting supporting roles. Deadshot as a mob assassin, etc.

Or maybe they'll throw everyone for a loop and use a couple supporting villains but create an entirely new main villain?
