What good could possibly come from this R-Truth and Goldust debacle?
Fucking gag me with a spoon. Do they think that no one remembers Booker T and Goldust? Do they think that I am so stupid as a fan that I can't see them doing virtually the exact same thing right down to the black guy's haircut? Why is R-Truth the straight man in this comedy duo when we all know that he shines most when being a goofball? Are they going to be the ones to dethrone the New Day eventually?
God damn it. Your thoughts? |

I would love to be proven wrong here, but I just don't think it's in the cards.

I think they look at it this way: Bookdust was 13-14 years ago, and their current fan base is geared at people at that age or younger. They don't remember or know about it.
Anyway, give me New Day/Golden Truth at Mania. |

Then they'd better be getting a Demolition run, because there is nothing on the main roster or even NXT that could match them in or out of the ring.

This thread is booty. It's now about New Day.
My buddy met Xavier Woods a few years ago and said he was cool as shit. The picture they took recently became his Facebook profile picture. #coolstoryshad |

R-Truth is one of those guys I was wrong about. In 2011 the WWE turned him heel and he capture this lightning in a bottle. He was doing things no one had done in professional wrestling -- a rarity in that day and age. I used to say "he's too old and has too checkered a past to be a major player." FIVE YEARS LATER and the guy is still shredded, hasn't lost any mobility in the ring, talks even more comfortably in front of audiences and has remained a viable and regular part of WWE programming.
They should have hammered him home in 2011. I was wrong. Now the guy is a joke. I'd put him and Goldust over The Miz & Stardust at WrestleMania, with Stephen Amell in their corner. Then turn R-Truth heel on Goldust when they fail to win the Tag Titles. Let Truth be a deluded heel and see where it goes. |

Honestly both Goldust and R-Truth are great performers so if this whole thing was handled the right way then it could actually end up being pretty entertaining. However, WWE won't do that because they're a bunch of scum sucking fun vacuums so instead we'll end up with them teaming up and winning one or two matches only to become jobbers the very next week and probably go back to doing whatever the fuck they were doing beforehand within a couple of months. So in short nothing. Nothing good will come from this.
P.S. Is anyone else really bothered by the fact that WWE is super buddy-buddy with the anti-bullying thing and tries to act so progressive in the media yet is doing this gay joke stuff with Truth and Goldust? Like I'm not trying to be an SJW or anything here, but it just seems really weird that they're always pushing shit like that and then turning around and doing cringe worthy shit like this. I know I shouldn't be surprised cause it's pro-wrestling and WWE, but it just rubs me the wrong way. |

What bothers me is that both Goldust & R-Truth are approaching the end of their full-time careers. Well, they are both veterans. I'd rather see them teaming with younger guys against each other.

Short tag team title run, break up, fade away into obscurity.
Definitely 2002 all over again, except, I've taken zero interest in this angle this time, but that's most likely because I have zero interest in the product these days (and when they're rehashing old storylines, who can blame me?) Last edited by Rammsteinmad; 02-20-2016 at 09:24 AM. |

I suspect this is going to be a case of getting some funny sketches out of them, then when they actually become a team, they won't know what to do with them.
PS WWE have been recycling storylines forever. This is just a drop in the ocean. It's still the rebel fighting the Authority as the main storyline. |

Despite what Noid may have said about how well R-Truth has done to stay in the shape he is, the guy was 40 when he was getting a push against Cena and that was what, 5 years ago? I just think at a time when the roster is so sparse of star power more time should be dedicated to guys like Neville and Tyler Breeze to develop a character and something for the main crowd to get behind.

R-Truth has ties to both Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods. He should be in a real tag team feuding with The New Day.

This is a big bone of contention with me and the NXT crowd. A lot of these guys are phenomenal wrestlers, but they are not stars by any means, and a lot of them lack intangibles. WWE is a professional wrestling company, but it's business is heavily dependent on star power, and, for the mainstream, star power is derived more from guys like Batista and Brock Lesnar than Neville, Finn Balor, or Samoa Joe. It's just the way it is, and I feel that the Daniel Bryan thing was a singular phenomenon that gave fans hope that the page was turning, when it is not in actuality.

Daniel Brian connected to the audience. So did Dean and Kevin Owens. But the wrestlers like Neville are just there. Everyone coming in from NXT can wrestle but not all of them have that ability to be entertaining.
It seems WWE really wanted Neville to succeed to but after he failed to do anything when Miz gave him every opportunity possible it was officially over. He will now be the Billy Kidman of the WWE. |

Finn Balor should not be in that list of "good wrestlers with nothing else to offer". The guy has a quiet charisma, people will very quickly get on the Finn bandwagon.

I think this is really all they want to do at this point. Neither one of them want to do anything serious, they want to be goofs. That *should* be what makes them enjoyable, just like the new day, but for some reason, it doesn't have the same grip as the New Day do.
Maybe because it feels like the New Day are playing exaggerated versions of themselves, but Goldust and Truth are playing totally fabricated characters? Dunno. There has to be some other variable. |
