Yeah, Muhamed Ali isn't planning on fighting any ranked fighters in the future, so he can't be one of the greatest of all time..
That makes sense.. |

we all knew his record, everyone can see it. Everyone says hes the best. i just figured you could add to the statement with something interesting like an interview or a video or really anything at all. I guess I was mistaken.

Sometimes you have to build up a ighter by giving him inferior opponents to sharpen their game. For example having Fedor fight an expert striker to see how he performs or to fight an expert grappler. The goal to sharpen their skills and make them a more complete fighter. If those opponents are too good at their area, chances are Fedor would be able to take the fight to the area that the oponent is at hi weakest like the ground for the striker or staying standing against a grappler. Look at Wanderlei Silva's record. He faught a mixture of cans and tough competition his entire career which buit him up to the grea fighter he is now. |

and before someone says "why woud he need to do that hes already the best blah blah"... theres always someone out there thats better or at the very least have what it takes to beat the top dog and you need to constantly sharpen and refine your game so that you are ready for opponents like that.

I didn't really want to get into a "Why Fedor is considered one of the best" discussions but OK.. I was just letting Ant know who he was.. Anyway, every fight I've ever seen of his has been super exciting.. I think the fact that he doesn't look dominant yet is intrigues me.. Like, he looks like a normal guy with a little beer gut and all but is a beast in the ring.. I don't think I've ever seen him gas.. He has amazing composure even when he is seemingly "losing" (he never seems to freak out when bloody or in a bad ground position).. He has crazy ground control and agility for a bigger guy.. And he is one of the best strikers and has quick hands for any weightclass but specially for heavyweight..
I think him vs Couture will be great but I think Fedor will take it, specially if they stayed on their feet.. |

Kripsy's comment on how Fedor is a normal looking dude who kicks as is pretty bang on.
I do think right now Couture takes it though. He just seems to be in the right frame of mind. |

Fedor came in at the top level at the time and got better as the sport began to develop. Randy came in as a great wrestler that was good but not the best and has rose exponentially to the point he is now.

As much as I love the Iceman, I'm afraid he's on a decline and that Silva, in his first UFC fight in 7 years, is going to take this one by TKO.

Does that really matter??
It's arguable but it could be said he was fighting better fighters in Pride than he would have been in UFC.. (which I believe) I mean in those seven years he was fighting the likes of Dangerous Dan Henderson, Sakuraba, Rampage, Guy Mezger, Mark Hunt, Fajita, Cro Cop, etc etc etc.. Other than Couture, Tito, and Liddell what "big money" match has he missed out on?? |

Yea but a lot of Liddel's matches were way of 2 win rematches. Most coming off of KOs the first time. He knocked out randy, tito, and babalu in that fasion and thats all in 25 fights. Other than Sakuraba and Rampage, Wanderlei faught different people every fight with barely any 2 win rematches for 39 fights. Its hard to keep a successful streak like he had fighting all different kinds of opponents and fighting styles without getting caught a couple of times.

Yes..
In 2000 at Pride 10.. I just saw it on the FSN Pride show a few years back.. Shamrock gave him everything he had and I believe late in the second round (with the Pride 10 minute first), Shamrock was completely gassed and Fujita just kept coming and Shamrocks corner threw in the towel.. |

Is there usually a UFC PPV thread during the event? I don't think I've ever been on here for one before.
