2014 Predictions
This is always fun. The new year looms and 2014 will bring a new calendar of events our way, professional wrestling-wise. I figured I would make this thread to discuss things that we think we may see next year. It could be interesting to review this at some point in 2014 and see what actually happened and whether we guessed anything outlandish.
I'll post mine later, but go nuts. |

A random one I was thinking about before:
I could see Tyler Breeze and Cody Rhodes having a very interesting mid-card feud in the middle of the year, perhaps around July/August. Breeze is one of the more notable NXT guys and his shtick seems to work down there. I could see him getting the call-up and having a bump-in with Cody Rhodes, who talks about how he was once "Dashing" and then got his nose broken and it was the best thing that ever happened to his career. He basically tries to give Breeze career advice and Breeze responds by costing Cody Rhodes a big match or something (maybe even Money in the Bank). Rhodes vs. Breeze at SummerSlam with Breeze stealing a win and getting right under Rhodes' skin. |

Titus O'Neill getting a singles push is actually something I am for. When he first started, I felt he was too clunky, but he's worked hard and has overcome those problems. He's got "the look" and he's got the charisma. I'd actually like it if he and Darren Young didn't split, but rather they worked an injury with Young and had O'Neill break-out that way -- getting revenge for Young.

I love his Twitter handle though: @jtg1284. Always makes me laugh the rare times he has a match on tv these days and they show it.
Prediction: Bryan shocks nobody, delights everybody by winning the title in the Main Event of WM XXX. |

I realized this a long time ago.
I'm convinced Kane Knight could become a pro wrestler and Noid would praise his "intriguing look" and how he "isn't as terrible athletically as people make him out to be" and proceed to fantasy book him against The Rock at WrestleMania. |

If Kane Knight trains to be a pro-wrestler, I'm sure I would try to enjoy his work.

We get the re-debut of Bo Dallas who wins the rumble and beats Orton for the WWE World Heavyweight Title at wrestlemania... Ok maybe just the part about him re-debuting.

You know, part of me isn't game to actually stand behind this prediction, but I can see Daniel Bryan not winning the World Title in 2014. If Shawn Michaels does wrestle at WrestleMania, and I think there is a huge chance he could (it's one match, the guy is in good shape and still bumps and plays the part well), because it would make almost every wrestling fan happy (and it should), then it will most likely be against Daniel Bryan. I could think of ways the WWE could put the World Title onto Shawn Michaels in time for the WrestleMania match with Royal Rumble Winner Bryan, but I think it's most likely that this would be set-up with HBK costing Bryan the Royal Rumble Match, right?
There's absolutely no reason for Shawn Michaels to go over Bryan, and it's more than likely HBK would do Bryan the honor of tapping out to his YES! Lock (as he did on the RAW after Hell in a Cell). After that, Bryan will be smelling of credibility and be white-hot, but I can actually see him being "too hot for the title" at that point. There will probably be post-Mania plans for the World Title (the heel challenges the face that beats him again, etc.) and Bryan's issues with The Authority will probably continue. I could see the WWE actually beginning a year long chase for Bryan to the WWE World Title at WrestleMania XXXI. So, my unusual prediction is that I could see Daniel Bryan not getting a run with the World Title in 2014. But not in a "We don't have faith in this guy" sort of way. In more a "We're actually building to him winning the title at a WrestleMania, but we just had to do Shawn Michaels vs. Daniel Bryan this year" way. It's a bit out-there, as injuries and things come up. They might try to put the title on Bryan at SummerSlam or something to pop the summer/fall PPV season buys, but I think Bryan either wins the World Title at WrestleMania or he doesn't at all in 2014. |

I think Kalisto will get the call-up from NXT and that his shtick will actually work. Sin Cara was handled pretty badly. Mistico himself wasn't right for the main roster at the time, then there where the injuries, but the presentation of the character itself wasn't quite right. The lighting is off-putting and has the story behind the guy actually be explained? He's basically Tyson Kidd or Justin Gabriel, except in a mask and from Mexico. I'd say that Kidd and Gabriel actually have more depth as characters somehow. Hunico will do his best, but he's quite a bit older than most guys who receive big pushes and just...isn't Sin Cara. He did great as Sin Cara Negro, but he's trying to take over a role that hasn't really been created for or by him.
Kalisto, however, I see coming in fresh and having great presentation. They can give him a silver sun against a black background as a logo and present him as this really cool high-flying marvel. They can drop hints on commentary that he's interested in Japanese culture as well, and that he carries himself like a samurai. He'd just be this "edgier" luchador and seem "heavier" in terms of style than a Sin Cara or even a Rey Mysterio. I also think he could come in with credibility out the gate and not lose very often. I kind of feel like the "Kalisto" character seems more like it was created by the WWE, and that Sin Cara was more that they lifted something in Mexico that worked and tried to get behind it. But I see Kalisto fitting the WWE far more and getting quite a fair way. Not a World Title run in 2014 or anything, but I can see him mixing it up in RAW and SmackDown main events by the end of the year, at least teasing the possibility that he might get a strong push at some point (much like they use to hint with Rey Mysterio before Eddie Guerrero died). |

Another random prediction:
Curtis Axel will get repackaged. They seem to love him, and I adore his ring work. He's clean, crisp, looks good in there and doesn't seem to get hurt or hurt anybody. He's a reliable hand. But his current presentation is pretty shit. He's just...bland. I'm not sure what they will try, but at some point, I see Curtis Axel changing a bit. Maybe even to play into the blandness. I could see him dropping the Paul Heyman created name and coming out as "Joe Hennig" to no theme music and plain black trunks and making "I'm not here to entertain you" his thing. Maybe they pair him up with a Diva or even a different manager, but I just don't see Curtis Axel now as being the same at the end of 2014. |

Top 5 predictions of things that will happen in 2014
5. Mystico makes his TNA debut as Cin Sahra. He gets injured during his debut run-in. 4. Saturyne will cause the end of a second indy fed when the head booker of Dragon's Gate USA has an affair with her. 3. After the success of the Scooby Doo Wrestlemania Mystery, Curtis Axel will be repackaged as the Ghost Bear. The Gimmick will be tweaked slightly, as Curtis will walk down the aisle wearing a sheet, stop shaving his body hair, and start an on-air relationship with Zeb Coulter. 2. During Wrestlemania, Triple H has a match with John Cena. The match last until Summerslam. Not the feud, the match itself is 4 months long. 1. Vince will find a way to job either Heath Slater or Zack Ryder to a plant. Not a paid person in the audience like Santino was. I mean a Hydrangea. |

More serious predictions:
5. The mask match will NOT happen, as Rey will probably be out for most of the year, including Wrestlemania. 4. John Cena will have ANOTHER major surgery. 3. Cesaro will have a Mania moment when he hits a power move on Big Show. 2. Big E Langston will feud with Roman Reigns, and it will be EPIC! 1. Brie Bella becomes pregnant. Daniel Bryan gets buried for incapacitating one of their "top stars." Honorable Mention: TNA will continue to sputter along, and people will be predicting its demise at least 4 times.
