At least she got all of the praise before she died because of the false report.

- WWE has posted a longer tribute video for Mae Young, as seen above. - Here are some reactions on her passing from around the wrestling world: Jim Ross: "The legendary Johnnie Mae Young has passed. The Oklahoman lead an amazing life. Her mental/physical toughness is an inspiration to all. RIP" Natalya: "I'll always remember Mae Young. We shared wonderful memories of my grandfather. She made me want to fight. There was no one like her." MVP: "Every time I saw Mae Young, EVERY TIME, she would greet me with a BIG smile & hug & then say "Now what was your name again?" & laugh! RIP" Mickie James: "A fighter until the very end! Forever in our hearts, memories, & fighting spirit! A true HOF legend! #RIPMaeYoung" Todd Grisham: "Rest in Peace Mae Young. One of the greatest female wrestlers ever. She was always very nice to me and was forever smiling." Triple H: "#RIPTheOneandOnlyGreatMaeYoung Thank you for your example to my girls on how to get all you want out of life! #pioneer #legend #whatarun" The Rock: "She's a wrestling pioneer. I truly had deep affection & respect for "Aunty Mae" Young. RIP. #IMissUMae" |

I'm not going to say it was a ground breaking loss, but a heart breaking one never the less. One of the toughest people, regardless of gender, to lace up a pair of boots has passed away at the age of 90.
We'll remember you, Mae Young. Rest in peace. Thank you for the memories... except the hand thing. And seeing you get thrown off the stage through a table by Bubba Ray Dudley at 80 years old was disturbing. Or you telling the world they paid to see your "puppies." Pretty sure I've seen you do a bronco buster before... ugh, need mind bleach.... You know what- for the last 20 years I've never wanted to be caught by a non wrestling fan watching whatever you were doing. |

She was truly one of the toughest male or female to ever lace a pair of boots.
I can overlook the attitude era stuff she did as she likely had fun and was getting a paycheck. I do think it was reckless and irresponsible of WWE to have an 80 year old woman get power bombed thru a table. Bubba probably took care of her but still... |

I think given the losses in recent years this was one of the few or the only that springs to mind that United most wrestling fans and professionals alike in grief and tribute. For example when Henning and Eddie passed away it was under tragic circumstances I.e. Result of drug abuse. Benoit obviously less said the better. Macho man of course incredibly sad but he polarised opinion amongst wrestling celebs. I don't recall mae young ever actually being hated and unlike most stars who went into retirement or moved on from the wwe she remained loyal until the very end hence why she was loved so much and perhaps why her tribute video felt more heart felt than macho mans.

Wasn't there the story of how mae young berated bubba for not going tougher on her? She certainly left her mark on the wrestling business and the odd novelty raw or spot on a ppv will seem that little emptier.

Reports of Eddy Guerrero's death are incorrect. Eddie Guerrero is just gravely high on cocaine

I love how there was no corny commentary by some pretentious announcer but more or less mae in her own words. As I said before what I admired most was her unwavering loyalty to the wwe in whatever shape or form she could contribute which she did until the very end. Perfect choice to use the Lumineers song.
