Favourite year in wrestling
Interested to find out what everyone's favourite year of wrestling was.. Going through network lately and watching it yearly... Mine would have to be 2002 . The roster was primed with great talent . Can name multiple great matches from that year .. Brock vs undertaker hell in cell match. The rock vs hogan at wrestlmania . HBK Vs HHH at summer slam.
Interested to see what others think any why ? |

Like 1997-1998. That's when I really watched wrestling.
WCW had nWo, Attitude Era was starting in the WWF. |

1983 for me.
WCCW was on fire with great stars and talent - The Von Erichs, Chris Adams, Iceman King Parsons, The Missing Link, Bruiser Brody, The Fabulous Freebirds & more. Jim Crockett Promotions launched the legendary feud between Ric Flair and Harley Race that led to Starrcade that year. Georgia Championship Wrestling introduces a new tag team that would become legendary known as The Road Warriors. You also had the infamous Last Battle of Atlanta between Tommy Rich and Buzz Sawyer. |

1908 George Hackenschmidt vs Frank Gotch for the first time. Great year. Remember it well.

It wouldn't be a calender year, but more so late summer/early fall of 1996 through the fall of 1997, around the time of the Screw Job. So much good shit happening at this time in each organization. 1998 is extremely close, however.

1997/1998 as someone else said (Sixx) I believe. WCW was shit hot at the time with the NWO, Sting, Goldberg etc.
For WWE I would say 2001 but more WM 17. Because of acquiring WCW the previous week, WM 17 felt like a victory procession but rather than put on a stale performance, the show was perfection from start to finish and proved once and for all why the WWE was the better promotion in every sense of the word. |

WWF 1998 - The attitude era rawked. The majority of the wrestling fanbase turned into teenagers and the WWF turned into a teenager too.
All the sex angles. Heel Dude Love. The birth of Mr. McMahon. Stone Cold Steve Austin. Born-again Christian Dustin Runnels and the eventual return of Goldust. Owen "Enough is Enough" Hart. The debut of Al Snow. L.O.D. 2000. Sunny. Sable. Val Venis. Jerry Lawler was still classic Heel Jerry Lawler and one of the last figures from the old days and an update wasn't needed at all. Undertaker vs. Kane. DX. The invasion into WCW country. (It was also the year WCW got it's ass kicked by the WWF.) WWF 1998 was exciting and unpredictable. WWF 1998 was the *only* good thing for me that year. Last edited by Zeeboe; 07-09-2015 at 09:17 PM. |

1998. I was a huge fan of the split NWO, and it was right before WCW began to suck major ass. WWF was awesome and ECW was getting bigger and bigger

In all honesty, I'm not sure I could pick just one year. There were so many great things from 1997-2001-02. You had the NWO, the rise of Austin, DX, HBK, Bret, Montreal, Taker, the intro and awesomeness of Kane, the Ministry, the cruiser weights in WCW, Goldberg, Jericho, the rise and charisma machine that was The Rock, the dominance of Austin and the Austin/McMahon and Austin/Rock feuds, Foley's awesome craziness, the rise of HHH, the McMahon-Helmsley domination, the crazy tag teams/TLC matches, the rise of Kurt Angle, Shane-O-Mac taking crazy bumps, etc. Looking back, sure it had it's shitty moments but man what an incredible 5 year run that was.

Favorite vs. favourite
Favorite and favourite are different spellings of the same word. Favorite is the preferred spelling in the U.S., while favourite is preferred in all the other main varieties of English. These preferences extend to all derivatives, including favorites/favourites, favoritism/favouritism, and favorited/favourited. |

Sarcasm has lost its bite on the forums. I'll be on my best behaviour, so as not to colour myself with embarrassment again.
