Just gonna throw this in here since pretty much everyone reads this thread anyway.
Since the last dash update ruined my 360s disc drive, my dad loaned me his 360. Thing is, his is flashed or modded or whatever. I don't know for sure and neither does he since he just bought it off Craigslist a few years ago for the hell of it. Things were fine for a while but now attempting to play any games that have come out since around October 2011 causes the system to hit me with the "system must be updated" box or whatever. I would just update and hope for the best, but given this isn't my Xbox I'm not about to fuck anything up. Now I don't take this 360 online so I'm not worried about getting flagged or anything, I just wanted to know if I could safely use the system update on recent games like ME3 without any ill effects on the 360s ability to play games offline? Any help would be appreciated |

Yeah I've been putting it off because I didn't think it'd take me this long to get my 360 fixed. Started doing it with WWE 12 a few months ago so I just shelved the game, but now I REALLY wanna play ME3 so I'm trying to get it figured out asap

Update is fine, but it might flash the box back to stock and not play modded games anymore.
For the newer games, you'd have to re-nod it with LT 3.0 anyway and some newer games need a specific DVD burner in your PC to work. The flashing of TE XBox to a modded state is easy, getting working discs of newer games is difficult as hell now. |

Even though you don't play the games offline, I think if you try to download the game patches or updates, it can still send out a flag to Microsoft.
I think them and Nintendo include system checkers in the updates who's purpose is to remove the hacked firmware (or at least I know Nintendo does). No clue on what Sony includes with their weekly updates. |

You'd be flagged, but to be completely honest with you all that does is ban that specific 360 from Live. Your account, if you have one, will be fine.

Warren Spector reveals new details about the upcoming Epic Mickey 2 with drop-in/out co-op and a lot more musical parts to be included.
In regards to camera issues that plagued the first game, Spector explained this was a top priority for the sequel with the largest team assigned for improving the camera controls. The game will allow drop-in/out co-out with the second player controlling Oswald and the CPU taking control when a player drops out of the game. Voice acting will be a new feature with both Mickey and Oswald to be fully voiced in the game and a historic first for Oswald who never had a voice in his cartoons. The voice acting will be tied into random musicals encountered in the game which was also revealed as a new feature. Quote:

According to Capcom, the survival horror genre is no longer strong enough to stand on its own for both the future of the Resident Evil series and the gaming industry as a whole.
In an interview with Gamasutra, Masachika Kawata, the executive producer for Resident Evil Revelations on the 3DS, says the market for the creepy and slower paced games no longer sells well enough in North America with concerns of the genre beginning to reach niche status. His main reasoning involved comparing the sales of recent horror and horror-like games with the higher selling quick-paced shooters that currently dominate the market. Quote:

This generation, my favorite co-op experience has been New Super Mario Brothers Wii. Though at times we were anything but cooperative. But that was a part of the fun.
Red Dead was another fun one. Haven't played Portal 2, but I'm sure the co-op in that is a blast. Only drawback would be that after you play through once, there would be little reason to do it again, since you already know the solutions to the puzzles. |

Mickey Mania Monday
A bunch of Epic Mickey news was revealed during the weekend with the possibility of the original game heading to the Xbox 360 and PS3, the Wii version of Epic Mickey 2 is the lead platform, and a new Mickey game announced for the 3DS.
In an interview with Game Informer, Warren Spector hinted if he gets Disney's permission, the first Epic Mickey game could be ported over to the Xbox 360 and PS3. It would arrive before the release of Epic Mickey 2 and get people who didn't play the Wii version to be interested in the Epic Mickey series. Warren Spector also confirms the Wii will be the lead platform for the development of Epic Mickey 2 with the Xbox 360 and PS3 getting upscaled HD versions of the game. Junction Point will work on the Wii version while Blitz Games will handle the HD versions. Epic Mickey 2 will also have a collectable Nunchuck controller for the Wii version and confirmed to have PS Move support for the PS3 version. The Xbox 360 version will not support Kinect controls. Finally, Nintendo Power confirms the Nintendo 3DS will be getting an Epic Mickey game titled as "Epic Mickey Power of Illusion" and will be arriving this Fall on the same time as Epic Mickey 2's release. http://www.screwattack.com/news/nint...r-illusion-3ds http://kotaku.com/5896369/epic-micke...opment-studios http://www.screwattack.com/news/ps3-...be-possibility __________________________________________________________ Daily Recap: 1) Denis Dyack teases Silicon Knights is currently working on their "most fan requested" game with the news of the game only arriving on a next generation console and most likely will be Eternal Darkness 2. http://www.screwattack.com/news/deni...ed%E2%80%9D-ip 2) Robert Bowling announces he has resigned as the lead creative strategist for the Call of Duty series and will also be leaving both Activision and Infinity Ward. http://www.giantbomb.com/news/robert...tivision/4051/ 3) Microsoft is rumored to be making one more model of the Xbox 360 which will be called "Xbox Lite" before officially shifting their focus from the Xbox 360 to the next Xbox console. The Lite model is expected to arrive in 2013 for the price of $100. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...t-gen-console/ 4) According to recent trademarks filed, Namco-Bandi could be bringing former Japan-only Tales of Xillia to both the US and European markets. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...demark-for-us/ |

Less than a year after the massive hacking attack which lead to PSN being rebuilt, Sony announces they have taken down 2 digital PSP games from the PSN network. It was discovered both games were being used to launch hacking attacks on the service.
The games taken down were Hot Shots Tennis and Motorstorm: Arctic Edge with the official reason for the removal due to "stability improvement." The real reason was due to hackers using those games to once again attack the PSN network with the main source involving the exploit the PS Vita has when running in PSP mode which allows homebrew programs to run on the PSN network. No date was given by Sony when either game would be returning to the PSN Store and servers. http://www.giantbomb.com/news/hot-sh...g-issues/4053/ ________________________________________________________ Daily Recap: 1) Sega announces Phantasy Star Online 2 will be getting the Free-To-Play treatment for the PC and PS Vita with an iOS and Android version arriving in the future. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...s-and-android/ 2) Capcom trying to win the title of "worst DLC provider" as they announce the cliff-hanging ending to Asura's Wrath is not the real ending and instead will be available as a DLC pack for the price of $7. http://www.giantbomb.com/asuras-wrat...r-7/35-541193/ 3) Microsoft is giving away the digital versions of Halo Reach, Fable III, Kinect Sports, The Gunslinger, and Toy Soldiers for free to any non-Gold Xbox 360 user who purchases a 6-month Gold plan. http://www.gamerzines.com/xbox/news-...scription.html |

So, I picked up a few old games from Game and a charity shop the other day for very cheap and I've a couple of questions.
Firstly, Jurrasic Park: Operation Genesis. Got it for the PS2, eager to play it for the first time in years and it wont work. It's a purple disc and I've found that they never work. It seems to be a common thing, judging by what Google brings back. Any solutions? I also got Theme Park World (Sim Theme Park in the US) for the PS2 and the disc doesn't work either. I held it up to the light and the disc looks semi-clear. If I hold it up to the light, I can see everything on the other side. Pirate copy? Worn out? Is that why it wont work? I got Turok Evolution for Xbox and I'm curious how I reload and how I cycle through weapons. The manual says nothing about either. I can cycle through the tomahawk, bow, techbow & pistol but, when using the "unlock all weapons" cheat, I can't seem to access all weapons so I wondered if there was a menu I could access to see the other weapons. Finally, I got Rollercoaster Tycoon Deluxe 2 for PC. The games cool but any idea how to start a park from scratch? All I can do is "missions" like taking over an already built park and going for a target profit. I've read you can start fresh using scenario editor or something. Any other way? I don't fancy browsing through 300+ items in scenario editor to decide what types of ice cream shop to have, |

I've read that on Gamefaqs. I've only played the first level or two but I wouldn't say it was the worst. Sure, it's no Timesplitters 3 or Perfect Dark but "worst" might be harsh. Or does it get really bad later on?
I do dislike the way you have to recollect each gun in each level though. Still, it was £1.99 in a charity shop that raises money for the British Heart Foundation so it's not a big deal if it's not great. |

Yeah, that game was just mediocre. Bad shooters don't really even get mentioned anymore since there are so many big name shooters dominating the market. Even good-but-not-great shooters like Singularity and FEAR are not exactly uncommon.
