Also lol'ed at every one of the survivors, including Carol, being crack shots to put army snipers to shame. Carl headshotting zombies from a prison tower with a pistol. If Rick Grimes had been an army instructor, the zombie apocalypse would've ended in about 20 minutes.

Pretty much. That's how you kill zombies anyways. Severe head trauma, a blow to head with a blunt or sharpened object, or in that guards case, a bullet to the head.

If a person is shot in the head before turning, then there is no brain activity so it's a bit hard for them to become reanimated. Makes sense when you think about it.

Wait, does cutting a dude's leg off really stop the spread of zombie fever infection? Is this like some sort of scientific fact, or is Rick just grasping at straws?

In any case, they should replace Hershel's leg with a machine gun.

Also, I am glad they went with this time jump. Everyone seems slightly more interesting than before. Except for Lori, who seems just as annoying.

Well it was a heat of the moment things and if you don't die from 'accelerated' infection you will live. In the WD universe with everyone already infected (spoiler, I guess), you turn upon death rather than contact. This would make the crisis even crazier than other zombie stories. When you get get bit, it's like toxic Red Bull where you die from that and turn. The ideal strategy is to survive until a natural death whereas somebody puts you down after the fact.

So cutting off your limb could help depending on how fast the stuff spreads (guess about as virulent as a poisonous animal bite). Then again, you're disabled in a world like that...

That reminds me, all those old people back in Atlanta are more than likely dead.

I believe I read something about some deleted scenes (or a storyline that never got filmed) in season two where they ended up returning to the Vatos and finding that they've all turned.

I read an article about the new season that made a really good point. The nice thing about the time jump is that it's given time for the characters to come to terms with the world they're in. No more moral debates about death and the nature of life, etc. It's all about survival now. The opening scene is a great testament to that. No dialogue. Just precision, well-honed tactics.

Yeah, the episode was great in the sense of not holding our hand. My favorite scene, though very subtle, was Rick offering his bitch wife some chow - and she refused at first, only to learn that he wasn't giving an option. It was a quick character beat that I loved. Rick is through negotiating with people, it's go time. If the series can carry that on until the mid-season break, it's gonna be awesome.

And then the show remembers what it is, and gave us some gnarly walker kills. They may take a back seat to human villains this season but they're still out there waiting to get put down.

And in case anybody didn't know, the Walking Dead game is amazing. Get it. It does the brand justice.

I liked the zombies with riot gear on. It felt like a videogame. Where they beat down a bunch of plain grunts and then it is like.... "OH SNAP, MINIBOSS TIME"

I really wish they hadn't added Michonne in. The comic got a lot weaker with the addition of the crazy kung fu chick who is a master with a samurai sword.

She's one of the most liked characters in the Walking Dead universe and insanely important to the overall story. Not adding her would have done this series no justice at all.
