WWE Announcer Notes
I don't think anyone's posted this yet, but these are apparently old notes from the McMahon's to announcers. Kind of interesting, in my opinion!
http://imgur.com/a/NW1WG Byron Saxton apparently never received these. |

So much of this makes you just shake your head in disbelief. Can't say title shot, when later on suggests "I wonder what John Cena thinks about not getting a title shot" as something to say.
Consequently, the term "championship opportunity" they use in its place is one of the most annoying phrases ever. And why can't you say hospital? It's not like these fuckers get injured then taken to fucking lab in Guam for treatment. |

There's probably some sort of liability for saying they were taken to a hospital when they weren't. Medical facility probably covers their backstage doctor.

Cannot imagine being micromanaged to that degree.

Most of these are ridiculous. This basically flies in the face of what JR and King, hell even Heyman and Henan, used to do every night. Granted it was a different time, but I would say those four guys were probably the best announcers/commentators in the last 25+ years.
I actually think edicts like these have made the commentary worse, especially Cole's and the younger guys. I much prefer Cole's earlier announce work compared to his work from the past 7-10 years. |

Also, the "layout" segments for big angles are horrible. Realistically, if I was an announcer in the situation I'd be talking about the magnitude of what was happening because not only would I be shocked but that's my job.
Doing it sporadically is one thing but it seems like it happens so regularly now that when the announcers "layout", it just feels awkward and forced and not realistic at all. They've really overdone it. |

I question if any other sport micro manages their broadcast to point of essentially creating robot announcers who sound fake as fuck and lack any semblance of real emotion. If anyone employed by Vince thinks those notes are the key to success, they're not watching the shows.

Everything is micro managed so much. Not just the announcers. It's why just about every promo nowadays sucks dick. The less freedom for the talent, announcers included, to just do their job and either succeed or get fired, the worse things are.

Like JR, Stone Cold, and every other old hand who has had any success in wrestling says on their podcasts and interviews -- the #1 issue today is that wrestling is overproduced and missing the "big picture". I enjoy the WWE product currently, but the announcers hurt more than they help and it certainly could be better.
