Extracting RARs

I just downloaded a movie off of Suprnova, and the finished product of the download was a folder with 48 files in it.

Each file looked like this:

blablahpart1.rar
blablahpart2.rar
blablahpart3.rar

etc.. down to

blablahpart48.rar

When I open one in WinRAR, it shows two files, a .bin and a .cue. Each RAR file has these 2 files, both named the same thing. I can't figure out how to extract all these files into one viewable movie file. I have done a similar thing with games, but this seems different and it isnt working. Anyone farmiliar with what to do?

Basically, all I do is just extrat one of the files from each folder.

It will begin extracting all of the RAR files from that same folder to make the file.

Pretty easy.

Wait, so do I select each .bin, then extract it to a certain folder somewhere, go to the next .bin, extract that to the same folder etc...? Or if I start one will it go through all of them? Cause that didn't work for me. I extracted the .bin from the first part1.rar to a folder, and it just extracted that one. And the result (in the new folder) was another .bin which "didn't have any archives in it" or something.

Just do the first one you see.

It will automatically get all the RAR files into one big file.

Alright, I extracted the 1st .bin into a folder on my desktop, and it just did that one. In the new folder, it just has a new .bin which doesnt do anything. K I think its broken or something.

By the way, I tried to find the old torrent topic in the VG forum that was pretty much a reference to everything torrent related but I think it got deleted.

btw, for the bine file, you're gonna have to burn it into a CD

Well the folder with all the .rar's in it is 1.5 gigs. so I'm not really sure. Each bin is around 710,000kbs or so

If I tell it to extract the folder it self, I get the same results as if I tell it to extract one of the .bin's from within the rar's. Usually I see it going through a bunch of files as it extracts, but it doesn't look like its doin that.

Well what i usually do in this situation is. I extract all the rar files alright. So when i extract all the rar files to a folder, i go to that folder and i get a bunch of rar files. Then i open up winrar and go to the folder where the rar files are stored. I select all the rar files and click on extract( now when i click on extract it will do a "check" to make sure i gots all the rar files). Then after the files are done extracting i end up with a .bine and a .cue file. Open up nero and choose the burn image option, locate the cue file and select the cue file. Then burn.

You don't need a CD. Here's what you do...

First, open the first RAR file so it complies them all to the .BIN and .CUE files. Extract both of those from every set you have to any location you feel is what you want. .BIN and .CUE files work just the same as .ISO files. Go search google for D-Tools or Daemon Tools if that doesn't come up and download that. It will be a small file. When you've got it installed there will be a small icon near your clock. Right click it and go to the Virtual CD/DVD-Rom option and then to your first device and then to mount. Find the destination you placed the files and load them there. It will act like you just put in a DVD and will probably bring up that program select. If not just open it like you would a DVD/CD.

Ok I've made some progress. When I highlighted all the .rar's and extracted them to a folder, it actually extracted from each one (which it wasn't doing before). The result is a .bin thats around 700,000kb, and a .cue which is 1kb. (same as before really). I just dont know what to do now that doesnt involve burning it onto a CD? Running the .cue in daemon doesn't do anything (since its such a small file I doubt anything is in it really) and .bin isn't a supported file type for Daemon.

Okay thats good that you got a .bin and .cue file because thats what you need. Now you can use a program called ISOBUSTER if you want to watch the movie on your computer. Download ISOBUSTER and open the .bin file. There will be about 5 or 6 different folders. Open the folder called: MPGWAV( or something like dat) then u'll see an mpg file. Just extract the mpg file from the .bin file and u can watch the movie file on ur computer, no need to burn the cd!

Don't download anything else. You need the CUE and the BIN file in the same location. Put them on your desktop or something easy. Open the CUE in Daemon. That will run the BIN file and should be working.

When I mount the cue in daemon, all I get is a 600kb CD with 6 folders, all of which are empty or contain meaningless files. Can't autoplay it either. I think there is something wrong with the download.

When I use isobuster on the .bin, I get those 4 folders Sadio was talking about, except in the mpegav one, there is just a file called AVSEQ01.dat. I extracted that to my desktop, and I am once again stumped.

Here is the picture of the final folder I get btw

okay the .dat file should be a pretty big file, just rename the .dat file to .mpg and that its, the file should play in media player!

Yeah, on some of the movies you have to open it by opening media player and typing in the address of some file. Those are really stupid, most of the time you get actual movie files or files that will play like DVDs in Daemon.

Hate to bump this thread, but I'm having some trouble again. The last few movies i've downloaded gave me the same thing. After extracting all the .rar's into a .nrg, I opened it with iso buster, and when trying to play the AVSEQ01.mpg file, it gives me the error message "SECTOR 450 COULDN'T BE READ". The same thing happens if I try and extract the whole "Track 1" subfolder. Is it something I am doing wrong, or is the download corrupt?

I don't think it is to do with being an *.rar file.

Chances are the download is most likely corruput( the .nrg file that is, if it can't read a sector)

btw you can also try some other programs for the .nrg file and see if it works at all( another program to extract the video file that is)

As far as .rar files are concerned, you should always have a series of files named .r00 - .rxx (xx being whatever the final number is) followed by a .rar file. Opening the .rar file will unpack all the other files.

The .dat file you found when you were done unpacking it was part of either a VCD or SVCD. When burned, the disc might have been playable in a standard DVD player (not all dvd players are compatible with bothe VCD and SVCD and some don't play either). If you just want to play the file, you can rename it as was stated earlier or you can right click the file and select 'open with' and use either your computer's dvd software or DivX player.
