Booty-O Tag Tournament


So I watched both RAW and Smackdown this week (I know, surprised me too) and I wanted to discuss the Tag Team Tournament. So the first round was pretty standard, with two "standard bearing" tag teams (Usos and Dudleys) advancing, and the two new teams getting the wins. My question is..... if they had two "surprise wins" in the tournament, would you be more interested in the tournament?
Like let's say, it was the Ascension who destroyed the Lucha Dragons to advance and the Social Outcasts beat the Dudleys (Vaudevillians beat the Usos and Enzo/ Big Cass beat Fandango/ Goldust). Would you be anymore interested in the tag tournament if the semi finals was four teams that haven't been WWE tag champs before?

Nah, this tournament seems to be going pretty much the way it seems like it's supposed to. Enzo and Cass vs. Vaudevillains in the finals. Fine.

I find it really hard to engage with tag team wrestling on the main stage. I guess I've just been burnt too many times.

I hope not. Dont like the Vaudevillians at all and see them as the next Los Matadores. I like Enzo and Cass though. Never watch tag teams in NXT as I skip around and don't care for many of the NXT teams. But having 2 NXT call ups in the finals just buries your current tag teams. Always hate it when guys or girls get called up and are instantly in the title picture. Not really excited for the tounament because WWE Tag Team division is shit. WWE really need to sign more tag teams as a package like they did wirh Gallows and Anderson. ROH probably has the best tag teams division in the world.

Goldust and Fandango are? I know they've been building Golden Truth on Raw and figured the tag tournament was where they would come together. Goldust/Fandango was just a wasted spot. Should have called it the NXT Tag Team Showcase featuring the Dudleys.

They're giving this tremendous build-up to the Goldust/Truth team, but does anybody really want to see it? If only they put this much effort into getting younger teams over.

I guess I could see Enzo and Cass winning the tournament too. Them and The New Day trading verbal barbs would be fun, but who do the fans get behind? I guess you can have bitter Vaudevillains fuck over Enzo and Cass and keep that program going.

Then you've also got The Colons coming in. Fucking hell, I've wanted them to drop the matador shit for ages, but they're coming in soft again. I guess you can put them over The Prime Time Players (who have to be considered pretty much dead as a threat to the belts now, right?) a couple of times and build stuff with the Lucha Dragons. But then you've got the US Title on Kalisto still. Do you have Ryback win it in the next couple of weeks? Do you have Epico take it off Kalisto, Sin Cara take it off Epico, Primo take it off Sin Cara, etc?

Having a Puerto Rico vs. Mexico tag team feud as fun filler on RAW and SmackDown each week could be pretty good. You don't need to put much thought in, and I could see it getting pretty over. I'm about ready for Carlito to come back and for The Colons to feud with The New Day too. Enzo & Cass get their title shot, get screwed by The Vaudevillains, New Day move onto Colons. But then you've also got The Dudleyz. Anderson & Gallows? They seem to be heels, but they're going to be cheered like shit anyway.

From the "staredown" post match, I kinda felt like we were gonna get an Ascension vs Enzo / Big Cass feud.... but considering Victor just got suspended for a Wellness Violation

I love The Vaudevillians so if they get to the finals I'm quite happy with that.

That said it's weird that they are being protrayed as actual heels (and since it's on SmackDown they can pipe in boos). Have a feeling that they'd get big cheers on Raw not just because they're NXT alums but because they're just so good at their characters that it's hard to actually boo them.

I love Big E, but I find there is something too fun about his personality. Like he needs to get darker if he's going to be *the* guy. I'm not trying to be too old-school smarky Cornette-style with the "funny don't draw money" thing, but it's true to an extent. Time to get more "big star" E. Also, he should get the "Langston" back.

Dudleyz needed a win to have them face Enzo & Cass to further their feud when The Vaudevillians (heel) face The New Day (face)..... I don't imagine they'll have Enzo & Cass win and face a face team and lose....

Feel like the Usos should have beat the Vaudvillians. Enzo and Cass would gain more from. eating the Usos at Payback. I'm sure these two teams have faced each other plenty of times in NXT. Basically WWE is telling you that NXT > WWE with this booking.

I think I now want to see Enzo & Cass win at Payback, but for The Vaudevillains to either cost them the match against The New Day or help them win it in a "you beat us, so you make sure you're the champs" sort of arrangement.

Really like Enzo & Cass. My brother that doesn't even like wrestling has been saying " and you can't teach that" since he seen them on Raw. Don't think they should beat New Day but feel like they can be major players in the tag division. Vaudevillians could go back to NXT for All I care though.

The Vaudevillains are an odd call-up. The whole team vibe is odd these days. I actually like how commentary has been trying to get them over though. I'd probably switch the belts on a RAW to Enzo & Cass after they become #1 Contenders with Vaudevillain assistance. New Day have a gripe, Enzo & Cass have something to prove and The Vaudevillains are these evil third wheels throwing a spanner into their program. At Extreme Rules you can do a Triple Threat Tag Team Elimination Match. Take a page out of Survivor Series '02 and have The Vaudevillains eliminated first, but they grab steel chairs and give all the babyfaces a good whack. Xavier Woods fights them off, but the referee sends him to the back as well as English & Gotch. Clean fight finish for the recovering teams and Enzo & Cass win so New Day can move on to whatever it is next for them.

Really want to see New Day with a singles title. Could easily put the US title on them. Also could have them all go after singles titles. Xavier with the US, Kofi with the IC, and Big E holding the WWE WHC. Won't happen but they really have that kind of ability.

I do like Kalisto, and I think putting him over Ryback at WrestleMania was the better option, but they really need to get that US Title off him. He's had a nice little run and has proven he can beat bigger guys. It's now time to prove he can be beaten and he's human so that people can get behind him. I'm not big on Ryback, but him winning the US Title now and then dropping it off to Big E before Kofi and Xavier Woods also consider themselves US Champs and take turns defending the belt could be something fun.

I'm not usually a big fan of personalised belts, but The New Day introducing a US Title with unicorns, rainbows and cereal boxes on it (with an element of class, of course) could lead to some pretty epic merchandise sales.

Love the Vaudevillians but I kinda wish they set up the brackets for Dudleyz vs Enzo and Cass to meet at the PPV. Just because I think they did a good job building the match up for a couple weeks with just promos. Made me wanna actually see them finally face off in the ring to the point where it would have made an excellent addition to a PPV card. Which is very rare for a tag team feud nowadays. (Any feud really... but especially in the tag division.)

Vaudevillians and Enzo/Cass had a pretty good back and forth promo on Smackdown.

The Shane story thing is about new guys getting chances. Makes sense that two NXT Tag Teams are in the finals.

Later on Dudleys and Enzo and Cass can have a longer match when it's just about them and not moving on to the next round or even moving on to a tag team title match.

Maybe not. They might have started with the Dudleys just because they were the only heel tag teams booked in a match on the Raw after WrestleMania (League of Nation is a Stable). I skipped most of the Dudleys/Usos match getting some food and going to the bathroom.

New Day are not even in the tournament. I suggested Lucha Dragons to win and lose to New Day and then New Day to request a US title shot. Its not to illogical and WWE does that all the time. You beat the champ in a non title match you get a title shot.

Definitely not illogical for the stipulations of a match to state that if a guy wins he gets control of the company only for him to lose said match but still get control of the company.

You simply cannot judge any WWE storyline with any sense of real world logic.

Look I know you're just a "Simple Fan" but that booking doesn't make any sense. I was poking fun at you with my initial comment, but since it seems to have sparked a discussion...

TNA is beyond the point of repair, "good booking" won't save it. On top of that, if your main talent is Drew Galloway, Booby Lashley, EC3, and The Hardy Boys.... wtf are you still watching that shit for?

I like wrestling and Impact is a wrestling show. I think the guys you named are all great talents and are mainly the reasons I watch TNA. Big fan of EC3, Hardys were my favorites as a child. If you enjoy WWE and only it that's fine but I watch a lot of different promotions.
