People shit on face Christian way too much.
He did little things during his matches when he was a face that most faces wouldn't even think of. He was amazing as a face just because he would change his repertoire to fit his disposition. And it always worked perfectly. You could tell he was having a blast as a face in a manner that no one else was able to show. |

You think all that shitting on Christian's face is the reason for the big blue dot?

I still feel just awful for the guy...he paid his dues properly up through 2005, and in fact actually wrestled a match as Captain Charisma, with a whole humiliating looking "superhero" outfit and everything, goes to TNA for a while, returns to WWE in 2008 or 2009 and wins the most meaningless title in the company (if WWE's version of the ECW title can be CALLED a championship...), and wins the WHC 2× for a combined total of around a week.
He's the Rodney Dangerfield of WWE, IMHO...he has tried and tried to bust through the glass ceiling, only to get no respect from management and even at times the fans. So sad that he'll probably (never say never, but when's the last time in recent memory any wrestling fan has actually thought about him main eventing or being champ?) never get the chance to break through the glass ceiling. |

RVD may also qualify, although as high as he probably is 98% of the time, you'd never actually know he was disappointed about anything ever...

What's so bad about Christian as a face? I prefer him as a heel, but his ECW face run was perfectly acceptable. It was actually pretty good, even.

What about Cesaro? He must be feeling pretty upset right now.
I haven't watched Wrestling since Wrestlemania, but the guy was on the verge of becoming pretty huge. The crowd was popping huge for him, and that 'Airpline' move or whatever was the most over more in the WWE. Furthermore - his persona fit 'Swagger's theme' music perfectly. They should have kept Cesaro exactly as is.........and should have given him Swagger's theme music. Another guy who is probably among the most disappointed of all-time is Randy Orton. Orton probably knows that he could have and should have been much bigger than he ultimately became. Two times in his career, this guy had a GOLDEN chance to be absolutely massive. 2004 and 2009. At Summerslam 2004, Orton was massively over, but the WWE "busted their nut" and turned him face way too soon. He faltered after that. In 2009, shortly before Wrestlemania, Orton and Legacy were over HUGE. Orton REALLY could have gone to the next level had he punted Stephanie in the head, and then defeated HHH at Mania, but none of those things happened. |

It was great. He's like Randy Orton in that he just knows how to work the crowd as a face during his matches.

Christian is one of the people that comes to mind when ever I hear the WWE spout that BS about grabbing that brass ring.
I love the guy and I really hoped his WHC win would elevate him but alas. Kofi's blown opportunity with Randy Orton is another sore spot. I'm not sure these count because IMO both failures occurred on the management end. |

Do you mean as a character, or did you not find him "heavy" enough in the ring? Both valid criticisms. I feel like the stories told by Christian as a face were tremendous, however. He just never got a chance to sell them on the mic. Except probably in ECW.

Shelton Benjamin should be pretty disappointed with the way things turned out for him. He got two consecutive wins against Triple H on the heels of WrestleMania XX, a solid Intercontinental Championship run and what looked like a potential push to the permanent upper mid-card. Instead he ended up being fodder for Randy Orton's rise to stardom, became the Gold Standard, and then disappeared.
Maven was the first ever Tough Enough winner (an accolade he could have touted his entire career) and eliminated Undertaker in a Royal Rumble Match. If he had actually found a gimmick, he might have been somebody. Probably pretty disappointed in himself for not finding the right tone with the audience. That John Cena guy is also probably pretty disappointed with the crowd reactions he gets every night. He just tries so damn hard to be likeable. |

Shelton Benjamin reunited with Charlie Haas to take on Teddy Hart and Chris Sabin at a JAPW show, and Kurt Angle appeared in their corner. Would love to see them get another crack in a televised promotion as a tag team supported by Angle.

Through no fault of his own, his character at that time was still treated as second-rate and I don’t recall him ever recieving a shot at the WWE title or hardly any other chance to become the main-eventer that fans back then would’ve in all likelihood supported big time for a huge title push and run. Obviously, nobody can fault the guy for jumping over to TNA for a few years when he’s treated that way. It was great when he returned and held the ECW title for a while, but after that he held the WHC for a grand total of maybe a week over two runs. He was probably lured back by WWE with grand promises of multiple WWE title shots and WWE Championship reigns that never came to fruition. I don’t blame him one bit for being frustrated, disappointed and/or fed up with WWE management. |
