WTF! I kid you not, I was 5 minutes away from making a thread on this very subject, I guess great minds think alike.
Back on point, yeah, awesome doesn't begin to describe how I felt after seeing this trailer. At first I thought it was fake, until I saw that actor from Undisputed II and Spawn. Did a quick Google search, and yep this seems pretty legit. The whole aspect of the MK lore being set in a realistic comprehension is a fresh concept, which is surprising when considering how far this franchise had been rode into the ground. Definitely looking forward to it. |

Wow......looks awesome.
That Baraka looks much more intimidating than the Baraka in MK: Annihilation. |

That does look pretty sweet, and this seems too detailed to be a fan made trailer, especially with Jeri Ryan in there. The idea of a reboot could be pretty awesome, considering how ridiculous the games have gotten.

Wonder if they'll still have guys getting frozen to death or having their hearts ripped out.
And how will they handle Goro? |

That was pretty cool.
If Michael Jai White has a starring role in a movie it's probably not going to be good. I kind of think this fake though. |

What was the department thinking putting a famous person like Johnny Cage undercover?

I wonder what "the tournament" will look like. I thought for sure Michael Jai White was going to reveal himself as Raiden at the end. What is all this 'possible' stuff? Is it not official? It's clearly a real production, as Michael Jai White and Jeri Ryan are in it. The only other possibility would be that it's an elaborate cinematic for a video game. I've never seen an 8 minute trailer before. |

That's one of the reasons why I don't think it's "real."
What you see is real obviously, but I think this Trailer is it. I don't think there is a movie. |

Well in that case it would have to be part of a video game. I don't think they'd get Michael Jai White and Jeri Ryan for a fan film. Not that they're highly demanded actors, but they're still names.
I'm not sure. I wouldn't be suprised if it was to create big hype for a movie, but I also wouldn't be suprised if it was just a cut scene from a video game. |

Actually the fact that the actors are that low rent might point to it being a video game. A Mortal Kombat movie might not attract A-listers, but if the project was going to be this ambitious you'd think they'd shoot a little bit higher for the cast.

Maybe Lou Diamond Philips is Sub Zero. Dean Cain and Antonio Sabato Jr. are also possibilities

Warner Bros. looking to reboot franchise, but Threshold Entertainment filed new breach of contract lawsuit to prevent it from moving forward.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0293429/ 'Mortal Kombat' Movie in the Works as a 7-Minute Introduction Arrives 44 minutes ago | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news » Ian Anthony Dale as Scorpion Talk of a new "Mortal Kombat" movie has gained steam over the past year or so and today it seems to have boiled over as a new seven-minute video starring Michael Jai-White as the video game character Jax and Jeri Ryan as Sonya Blade has hit the Internet and Chud has confirmed it is related to a new film. Devin Faraci writes: This is for the movie, and it comes from the mind of genius fight choreographer Larnell Stovall. He's the guy who did the fights for the excellent Undisputed 3: Redemption, on DVD and Blu-Ray right now. I hope that this movie gets made with Larnell plotting the punches, because this guy isn't just a geek like us, he's also got an incredible skill and ambition to create the next generation of fight choreography. I've only seen the 1995 version of Mortal Kombat based on the Midway video game, » - Brad Brevet New ‘Mortal Kombat’ Film Trailer 1 hour ago | GameRant | See recent GameRant news » Early this morning, a mysterious trailer for an unannounced Mortal Kombat project appeared on YouTube -- posted under the title Mortal Kombat Rebirth. The trailer is over seven minutes long and features high production values -- including performances by Michael Jai White as Jackson “Jax” Briggs and Jeri Ryan as Sonya. It’s unclear at this point whether the viral trailer will ultimately lead us to a new Mortal Kombat film or a new video game installment. However, given the real-world spin, I’d say we’re looking at a new film. Check out the Mortal Kombat Rebirth trailer after the jump: Looks a bit too ambitious for a fan-made trailer, right? However, the logistics of a new Mortal Kombat film are a bit complicated. Warner Bros. was moving forward on a Mortal Kombat reboot -- with writer Oren Uziel already attached to pen the screenplay, but shortly thereafter, the » - Ben Kendrick http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0293429/news#ni2782669 Looks like it's a go. The Youtube account was made recently and it's the first and only video it has? Looks good. I don't know if anything is official yet since I see nothing about it on Michael Jai White or Jeri Ryan's imdb.com pages. I also see nothing on the Mortal Kombat page either. I'm thinking either things just got official today or this little trailer is a show of promise and things still are uncertain or unclear. At first I thought it was cheesy to have these supernatural characters based on real people and becoming them because that kind of changes what we know about Reptile and Scorpion and Baraka but they are trying to make it workable and not so much like a video game movie. But in a way they seem to have kept things the same. Jax and Sonia are the same with little differences. I have a feeling Scorpion is an assassin and Sub-Zero was a member of a Triad or Yakuza clan so they are basically the same. It's like just change the fact that they are on Earth and it's more modern times but it's still essentially the same. Like Romeo and Juliet in more modern times can the story of Scorpion and Sub-Zero be as well. |

The Undisputed trilogy is not bad actually. I like the first one with Wesley Snipes but the third one I like because of the main character. With that said Scott Adkins needs to be in more cool movies. He's like a better version of Ray Park.

Well the buzz seems big. It should work.
I was going to say, if it did turn out to not be for a movie, there would be such an outcry that they'd probably just use it for the upcoming movie anyways |

Looks fucking awesome. But not gonna lie, this film will seem all big and well-hyped, and will end up being one of the bigger-budget straight-to-DVD releasees.

I loved it..with the exception of Johnny Cage getting killed..always been my favorite!
Reminds me of how after MK vs. DC, the Mortal Kombat guys were running their mouths about giving us a more mature MK. I am excited for the project either if its a movie or a game. |

In some regards I think this is just a really well done fan film of some sort partly since Cage is dead plus the acting quality of the cop is worse then some done in the previous movies.
