I see this being much better than 3, but much worse than 1 and 2. Pretty much on the same page as Thed. I don't see the need for non-Cameron Terminator. If it has to happen though, I'm obviously pulling for it to be good.
The concept here is nice. I wish they just did this as part 3 instead of re-treading the elements of the first 2 for an hour and a half in 3. |

Well yea, I'm comparing them on the notion of who's making them. The academy award winning director who created them and has only made top tier movies vs the guy who directed Charlies Angels 2. I just feel there's not much point in continuing to cash in off Cameron's baby without his involvement, but like I said, if it must be done I like this direction.
I hope its good is all I'm saying. The fact that it's a different type of movie is where I'm giving it props though. I think that's the best move they could make. Instead of re-treading the same type of story as the first two, with the hunter vs protector chase storyline, they're going in a new direction. They should have done this last time around. |

Actually pretty interested by this whole exploration of them beginning to replicate humans. I don't know about them seemingly having "souls". Seems to undermine what made the relationship between Connor and Arnie in T2 special.
Either way, it's interesting. It's a ballsy gamble that I will credit for ambition. It will either make the movie way better, or way worse, than it would have been playing it safe. |

An unexpected thought/complaint I had was: "Do we need another good machine?"
I've noticed that every piece of Terminator media released since T2 has had a good machine. I wouldn't mind having every machine be 'evil' in Salvation. Just a thought. |

I think we need another machine as much as we need another Terminator movie. I guess that's just the route they want to go. I got the idea from the trailer that he's the villain though. Pretty sure he'll be an attempt at a grey area villain who thought he was a man, and snapped when accepting what he really was.

Seriously, T3 suffered because it was essentially the same format as T2. I thought it would have been awesome if both terminators were after them, as that hadn't been done.

Def. Biggest problem with T3 is that they tried to replicate something that was nearly perfect in execution. I can't give them enough credit for going this route, regardless of the end product.

I don't have a problem with the good terminator in the new one, as there is at least fresh twist on this one. Not just arnold back to prtect John Conner yet again.

This movie actually seems to be very similar to the Dawn of Fate video game that came out for PS2 back in like '02.
I remember it not being the greatest game in the world, but a ton of fun. A friend and I stayed up all night playing it once. The story was great. |

It may just be in my head. I think I've seen another trailer with them fighting in the woods? That could also be just a scuffle.

Also, if this is a trilogy, I think Kyle Reese is going to get sent at the end of the second film. Or maybe even this one. Dunno, but I can't see the trilogy ending with it, because the war is still going when he gets sent back.

I'd like to see them incorporate the T-100's and their backstory at some point

I'd be totally for a nod/crossover with SCC at some point. Technically, the other 'Reese Boy' should be around. |

It definitely will happen at some point, but the trilogy shoul end with the war ending, not with the beginning of T1, otherwise there is absolutely no closure.

What would happen, hypothetically, if Reese died in the future war before getting sent back? Would Connor cease to exist? Would the universe collapse? Would Connor send himself back to save his mother (anonymously)? Would someone else rise as leader of the resistance as a result of the latter?
I think that's interesting territory |

Oh god, please let's not get into debating the nuances of a time travel plot. No time travel movie has ever been without plot holes.

I think that's because the human concept of "time" and existence is full of plot holes

The series may never end, since it's one big-ass time loop. Connor and Skynet created themselves by sending back agents to begin with. There could be the idea that they knew of their own origins, but we'll never know for sure what really started the war.
All we know is that both Connor and Skynet f'd up by securing their own tools for each other's defeats. Skynet's 'T-Arny' in T1 left it's arm, which led to the creation of Skynet. Connor sent Reese who eventually fathered him. Oh, then T3 came and shat on all that with the whole 'it's destiny' bullshit. I liked the time related theorems in place before hand. Some people hate the arguments that appear in scenarios like that but I like them. |

I HAVE JUST CUM IN MY PANTS. New terminator trailer
http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi3424453401/
i haven't really just cum, but only because i've been wanking too much upon my return. seriously though, holy shit. i was sort of apprehensive about it being lame and stuff from the past trailers which only showed glimpses, but this looks like it could be up there with the first two, albeit in a different kind of way. fuckkkk..
